Screenshots of Incompetency

Just another glimpse at the effectiveness of copy editors and the half educated interns who work for them.

The Unwary Relaxing at Home

I was in a good mood this morning. Relaxing with a coffee and my laptop I was caught off guard when someone knocked on the front door.

I was thinking that it was maybe another delivery for my internet shopping obsessed daughter, or maybe another bunch of flowers for my wife's never ending birthday. It could have been another city works employee to tell us they were cutting off the water to repair the broken mains again.

Nope, it was a guy in his going to church outfit and a fistful of pamphlets telling me that I was invited to a very important event.

Punked by the Jehovahs Witnesses!

For the record, I went to a JW Sunday school and summer camp as a kid. I've heard all the crap they have to offer and I figured out the bullshit before most of these door knocking, smarmy little pests were born. So Fuck Off.

You may have tricked me today but the net result for you is that you get wet and cold feet and hopefully fucking pneumonia. You are NOT getting any closer to buying your way into heaven when the rapture comes and you are not doing anything useful in the eyes of man or God.

Losers.

Our Happy Socialist Paradise

There's a pet shop owner in Winnipeg who just got educated on how bureaucrats run free in a socialist state.

First water pipes to the shop freeze then the the shop owner fights for a month with the city to get them fixed. Then the shop owner goes to the media for support. Then the very next day the shop owner is investigated by the province for animal cruelty.

A Page out of Obama's Playbook

Maybe she should call PETA?

Exploiting the Culture of Ignorance

I've been reading various blogs that are linked through the list/blogroll I keep here at OMMAG.

One interesting writer and commenter I like to check in on is the Neo-Neocon, who has hit upon a theme that is most relevant in today's social and political reality.

Keeping them dumb and happy?

My own take on the addiction to popular culture and celebrity worship has more to do with the effect of mass media, which exploits for entirely different reasons than the political left. However, the question that never gets answered is "What can reasonable conservatives do to fight the problem?".

For the left it is easy ... uninformed and intellectually stunted youth can be be manipulated because of who and what they are. The message is "Don't worry, you can have everything you want and you don't have to do anything that you don't want to do." This message gets reinforced with stroking from political messengers that says this is the cool and smart outlook and we are cool and smart just like you. The suckers get everything they need .... until reality sets in and by then all the damage has been done.

For the conservative it is a much more difficult task. This is because the victims of this society wide manipulation must first be clued in to the fact that they are being used as suckers. Of course just telling the suckers that they are being used results in defensive hostility to the messenger and any longer process of education gets diluted by the incessant bombardment of the media.

I am afraid that the only thing to do is let the dumbasses have it all .... and watch it all come crumbling down.

We're The Government and We Are Here to Help

Tim Blair

Britain’s female genital mutilation helpline receives an unexpected call:

A suspect contacted an FGM helpline to request the procedure for his two daughters after misunderstanding the purpose of the service for victims.
Mark Steyn comments:

What an unfortunate “misunderstanding”. The gentleman had called the Female Genital Mutilation Helpline thinking it was a helpline set up by Her Majesty’s Government to help you find someone to genitally mutilate your daughters. In the rich, vibrant diversity of the modern multicultural state, it’s easy to see why the poor fellow might make that assumption. Just give it a couple more years, sir.
It’s a life-imitates-art moment. Observe this scene from Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator.

One Down

The premier of Alberta is now the former premier of Alberta.

Thanks to the grass roots of the Alberta PC party the ex-PM has been forced to account for her inability to control her impulsive and spendthrift behavior.

This is a sound lesson to conservative party associations everywhere. You do have the power to take back your party from CINO and progressive frauds who hijack the organization and/or betray the principals of the party.

Keep up the good work Alberta.

Teaching What They Know (?)

Pop Science, Race Baiting Revisionism and Moral Decay

From the blog iNoPasaran! ... an article by Benny Huong examined:

It’s because our schools fail to teach civics, just the same way that they fail to teach history, foreign language, and nearly every other subject. The only subjects they seem to be good at teaching are environmentalism, critical race theory, and queer studies. If kids today graduate school knowing anything it’s that humans are poisoning the earth, white people are evil racists, and homosexuality is an unqualified good.

When I juxtapose the multi-state cheating scandal next to the Long family’s legal battle to homeschool their children, I can come to only one conclusion: there’s something fundamentally backwards here. Parents have to prove, to the satisfaction of the state, that they can educate their children, when it should really be the other way around. Year after year public schools award diplomas to twelfth graders who can’t perform at a twelfth grade level and yet no one removes the captive children from their custody.

… Maybe it’s time for the government-run school systems to start proving to parents that they are up to the task of educating children. The way we do it now is backwards—parents groveling for permission from the state to educate their children at home.

I agree!

Third World Winnipeg

While we were away to Florida's Gulf Coast, a friend in Winnipeg was bemoaning the unrelenting cold that he was suffering from. Apparently, many areas of the city were experiencing frozen water mains and supply lines from the mains to the houses. Home owners were advised to keep a cold water tap trickling to allow water to move and stave off a completely blocked line.

After returning, we heard from some who were affected. They called the city works to be told that they were 800 on the list.

Now, granted there is no way the city can predict that the weather would remain so cold for so long. However, it is not a new thing and we've had similar problems before. In fact, there are locations that freeze and rupture almost every winter in this city.

The problem is not that the weather is unpredictable. The problem is that the city has consistently refused to perform upgrades and repairs in a planned and proactive manner.

Just one of the problems we share with decaying and corrupt shitholes around the world.

The Best Way to Spend a Week of Winter

Go to Florida! Spend more than a week if possible and as long as you can in any case.

Some thoughts on a trip to the Gulf Coast:
  • The worst day on the Gulf is better than any day in -30 degree Winnipeg.
  • Waking up to 60 F still means you can have coffee on the deck in your PJs.
  • A day of 80 F weather means you're in the right place at the right time.
  • A walk on the beach is better for your soul than anything else I know.
  • A nap on a deck chair in the sun is a close second to  walk on the beach.
  • Fresh seafood alone makes the trip worthwhile.
  • Cruising the gulf boulevard in a convertible is the best.
  • It's hard to find food that is not fried, extremely heavy or a salad in Florida. You may as well give in.
  • There are lots of really stupid drivers in Florida .... many may be from other places, but the number of FL plates involved in the seemingly non-stop display of traffic incidents and close calls is staggering,
  • The political ads are unbelievably insulting, A special election is underway for a congressional seat. The Democrat ads consist of nothing but hysterical fear mongering and lies. According to Democrats ... stating facts (by Republicans) amounts to slander. However, blatant false claims (by Democrats) amounts to fair and honest criticism. The reek of desperation is thick.
  • Local TV people in Florida are as dumb as they come!
  • The good thing is that the TV has an off switch and the Gulf is just outside. Fuck politics.
Thanks Florida!
