OAKVILLE : Snarled traffic and delays greeted Ford of Canada workers yesterday as they crossed the first picket lines they've seen at the plant in almost 20 years."

Sounds like a pretty good record what with not having a strike at the Oakville plant in 20 years.

Reality is that the CAW has been in a power position there for that long. They have driven up the costs of operating those plants and reduced the competitiveness of the company. This has endangered the local economy, the Provincial economy and the National economy. Politicians and governments on both sides of the spectrum have been using tax dollars to underwrite the operations for even longer than the 20 years of 'labour peace'. And the union (CAW) continues to act as if they were a part of the management team. Pure hubris!

BUT that is all just the background theme for this latest labour instigated fiasco.
The CEP is a union that represents a very small group ( 17) of employees at the plant who are essentially working in the old steam power plant and operating equipment that is being phased out.
Old technology in the plant uses compressed air from the steam/power plant. New technology in the assemply plant is all electric. The CEP workers do not look after electric power and controls in the plant
In other words it's like the days of the steam engine! As soon as a diesel motor came along the coal stokers were out of work.

Their arguments include pension issues and job security among other things but the bottom line is that a handfull of people are willing to stop operations at the Ford plant to defend jobs that are completely redundant.
The company has only indicated plans to lay off four of the members to date and has offered severance and retirement packages far above the industrial norm.
And the CEP wants to argue about that?

Where's the "solidarity" among labour brothers in the CAW?
Where has this CEP been in all the years leading up to this situation?

In case you have not noticed guys! The auto industry is in deep shit and you are part of the problem!

Where The Money Comes From - And Goes.....

Lesson Number One:
The government does NOT have any money! The government takes money from the citizens in the form of taxes and borrows money from a number of sources to cover expenses that exceed its means.

Facts About the Federal Budget:

With a current debt of about $486 billion this means a debt load of about
$32,000 for each working person in this country.
Current costs of maintaining this debt are around
$34 billion anually.
This means that taxpayers are coughing up about
$2270 each year to pay the interest.

With a total budget of around $ 220 billion we have federal government spending at about
$ 7 thousand for each living body in this country every year.

Lesson Number Two:

Why do we have a budget surplus? Because we are being over taxed by the government!
The government is taking more money than it needs to operate.


Facts about the Surplus:

Current budget surplus $13.2 Billion. This means that every working person in this country has been taxed $900 dollars more than what is needed operate all of the current programs the federal government is running.
The surplus is not necessarily a bad thing in the short term. As long as the surplus is used to pay down the long term debt we can expect the surplus itself to become a thing of the past.

Lesson Numer Three:

Paying down the debt puts money in the federal treasury.

Facts about the Federal Treasury:
The federal Treasury is NOT a piggy bank for the Government!

The federal treasury is like a current account for the nations citizens that is run by the government.

The treasury holds all of the revenues and the accounts payable and the accounts receivable of the citizens of Canada. It is the account from which all cheques are written and all deposits made to on behalf of the citizens of Canada.

Just as ALL of the money in the account belongs to Canadians so too does ALL of the Debt attributed to the account.

When the total amount of debt is decreased the Net Worth of all Canadians is increased and the interest on the debt is decreased.
When the interest on the debt is decreased the Net Worth of all Canadians is increased.

Paying down the Federal Debt allows the increased positive cash flow to be used for things that Canadians need WITHOUT increasing taxes on Canadians.

With the effect of increased cash flow available a carefully managed budget will allow BOTH reduced Taxes and Sustained operation of necessary and valuable programs.

I was really pleased to see the Government of Canada announce yesterday that the entire Federal Budget Surplus will be used to pay down our National Debt.

In 2004 Dutch film maker Theo Van Gogh was stalked and murdered in Amsterdam by Islamic Thugs because he made a documentary about radical Islam.
His son and surviving family in Holland have continued to be threatened and attacked ever since and the Dutch Police and security services have done NOTHING to protect the family.

The family has left their home and is in hiding now.

What Pope Bendict XVI Said WAS Right

The immediate reaction of Muslim clerics world wide was to exhort their followers to protest the Pope's words and in some cases to violence against christians.

Nothing could have proved the truth of the words more clearly.

What the Pope did was quote another Christian leader from 7 centuries past.

He stressed that they were not his own words, he quoted Emperor Manual II Paleologos of the Byzantine Empire, the Orthodox Christian empire which had its capital in what is now the Turkish city of Istanbul in the 14th century.

The emperors words were, he said: "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

How little things have changed!

Even if the uninformed and gullible find the quotation disturbing or inflammatory he was right to make this point in this context.

The reaction of the Islamist theocratic thugs was predictable and drawing out the SOB's gives the civilized world another opportunity to see them in their true light.

Back to Gun Control Again

Well that took about a nano-second!

After the news today of a deranged person shooting up a school in Montreal the first thing I read in CP reports was mention of Marc Lapine and the Ecole Polytechnic shootings.

CTV online immediately had a poll question on the website asking whether we should have more or less access to guns.

CBC talking heads were asking if all the victims were women and if the shooting was motivated by politics.

Basically all of MSM-dom were hot after the spin or potential for spin on the story.

Not one person asking who and what this person was who instigated this attack.

Oh yeah they all managed to ask how many got shot and how serious are the injuries and if anyone died yet.

But every last one of the MSM dufusses made darned sure they got the spice on the story before bothering to get any facts about the story.

Now I suppose well have to listen to the usuall call from the anti-gun zealots to immediately ban all guns and of course Taliban Jack Layton and the dippers will be blaming PM Harper.

And so on .....ad nauseum!

At least the Montreal Cops got it right! .......They shot the MF dead.

I support the right of law abiding citizens to own and use guns.
I condemn the Liberals and all who support the state sanctioned theft of private property.
I condemn the criminalization of law abiding citizens by the use of draconian legislation.
I condemn the waste of taxpayers money to pursue these ideological attacks on personal freedoms.
I condemn the politicians the anti-gun activists and the MSM who use tragedies like this to justify their agendas.

I applaud the Montreal Police for their quick response and appropriate action in this matter.

F1 and Michael Schumacher - End of and Era!

The man has entertained me on most sundays for well over a decade and now it looks like he's stepping out of the circus.

After a career Spanning 15 years in formual one racing the motor sports most successful competitor has announce his forthcoming retirement.
At the end of the current season Schumacher says he will be leaving the sport.

The Most Impressive carreer of Michael which includes 7 world driving championships with 90 Race wins garnered in 245 Grand Prix starts will probably stay in the record books far a very long time. This year is also not over yet so we may yet see some more magic from Schumi as he now lies only 2 points back of current world champion Fernando Alonso and the Ferrari Team now in the Cat Birds seat for the Manufacturers Crown.

Schumacher has amazed and disturbed race fans with both his ourstanding driving performances and some on track antics that were less than noble to say the least.
Often willing to resort to dirty tactics such as hindering traffic or even crashing out world championship competitors to prevent their gaining points in the series.

In my view he's probably the most mercenary of F1 drivers and despite the antics of some in other series ( CART, IMSA, NASCAR come to mind ) has few rivals for title of biggest bastard in all of racing! He has had the ability to cow many of his opponenets on a regular basis.

He's certainly shrewd, a first rate race tactician and most capable of wringing the maximum performance from a race machine. In spite of the controversies and low-lights that have marred his carreer from time to time his driving performances in clinch situations have been the shining highlights. Backed up by an unbelievable ability to sustain consistent performance his skills have been the key to success over all other drivers to date.

A lot has been said about the relative merrits of the vehicles that Schumi pilots but we must keep in mind that many many races that he contested successfully were in Cars that were not superior in overall performance. His tenure at Ferrari took that team from mediocrity and failure in the mid 1990's to dominance in 5 consecutive years of 2000 thru 2004 and he did it with machinery that was not for the most part dominant on its own. Michael Schumacher may be a prima donna among drivers but he's a consumate team player and the most capable test and development pilot in the business....and that's what makes the Ferrari team successfull!

But what of Ferrari now? I predict that the house of prancing ponies will be in turmoil.
Regardless of who they bring in to replace the man they will not be getting anyone with the same combination drive, intelligence, ruthlessness, experience and ability that Michael takes with him.....no one is even close.
And as I understand there will be other retirements and even defections in the Ferrari camp. It's not the first time that internicine politicing has torn apart the company's race program.
And, there is much rumor and speculation among the sports pundits about the current circumstances of the retirement and the potention fall out.

My prediction is that the Renault Star is once again on the rise and that McClaren will be a major force as well. I also believe that the Williams group will not stay in the ranks of the mediocre for much longer.

Maybe Schumi will even show up in another teams livery someday!

Politics and Military Obligations - Spin for Political Gain ( Lying Bastards)

Recent events on the political front in Canada have clearly illustrated just how foolish and self serving many of our politicos are.

On the predictable far left we have had the NDP doing their usuall song and dance about how we need to re-evaluate our involvement ( Afghanistan). In the rainbow hued world of Jack Rabbit Layton and his group of socialist pals all things military are evil so of course if you listen to them "We must get out of the war!" is the theme. Of course they cannot restrain themselves from connecting that idea to "We must separate ourselves from American policy!" The cheap and senseless hatred of all things capitalistic and democratric is part and parcel of the socialist psyche.

But this week thanks to some leaked platform resolutions from the NDP playbook we discovered just how warped and spitefull the dipper mentality has become. The offending item was an anti-war resolution that with undisguised contempt for our Canadian military that went so far as to use the word terroristic to describe what our forces do!

Although this resolution stood little chance (one would hope) of being adopted and although the NDP have retracted and modified the resolution after considerable and justified criticism, the fact that it was put into motion in the first place tells us all we need to know about the NDP.
They are too married to their socialist ideology and too involved in their own childish world view to be trusted in any way shape or form to speak for Canadians on the world stage.

The Liberals were also running true to form on the military issues. In other words there were as many positions as there are would be leaders of the party. Again illustrative of fact that the party and the majority of its members cannot be trusted.

Lastly the Mainstream Media who while happy to jump on the anti-war rhetoric of the jackass Layton and desperate to interview any Liberal they could were still supplying their own continual drip of anti-war, anti- US, anti-conservative sentiment. Also this week the libcompsimps of the MSM were completing the circle of their self serving missrepresentation of reality by quoting other blatantly unfactual reports as fact and proof of widespread disapproval of actions in the Middle East and and alswhere.

This clearly proves the hypocricy of Layton and the Dippers who knew from the getgo, the facts of the matter and yet choose to undermine our efforts to meet our national commitments for an opportunity to spout their self righteous socialist dogma.

Ditto for the Liberals who know damned well that they were the ones to enter into this commitment and infact were the very same (Graham was defence minister) ones warning Canadians of the scope and risk of the operations.

And as for the MSM....the repeating theme in every major media outlet is negative. Much of it untrue and misrepresented and overwhelmingly aimed at creating discontent in the public.

All three of these groups are working hard to convince the public that we were kept in the dark, misinformed and that the obligation we have undertaken is somehow tainted because it aligns with the very same obligations and policies of our allies and neighbours.
And, all three of these goups know very well that they are LYING for the sake of their own agenda.

Just more proof that you cannot trust the MSM the Liberals or the NDP and that you should be outraged when these people claim to speak for Canadians and Candian values.
Unless of course you believe that self serving deceipt and hypocricy happen to be Canadian values!
