Fear Loathing and Liberal Guilt

Without getting into a long winded rehash of all the reasons for its existence and what White Liberal Guilt is, let's just admit that it has been one of the factors in play getting American Liberals to vote the vile little man that is Barack Obama into the Presidential Office TWICE.

However, the damage has been done for now and it raises the question "What Next?" ...

Beyond the upcoming elections in 2014 we are still faced with with the the same problems of how liberal voters are motivated and who is doing the motivating.

#1 - FEAR

Fear of being accused of not being good enough or smart enough to understand what is "at stake". While "what is at stake" is never clearly defined, it is implicit that the only way keep really bad things from happening and to satisfy the expectations of your moral and intellectual superiors is to vote Democrat. Fear is a favorite thing of the media.

#2 - LOATHING

Loathing has two faces. First the outward looking loathing that can be directed at perceived enemies and second the inward looking form that is a toxic brew of self doubt, anxiety, fear (funny how that seems to keep coming up) and prejudice. If you are not good enough you can't be "one of us". How convenient! Just let your moral and intellectual superiors tell you what is wrong with you and then let them "Save" you from your self. What a beautiful scam. Self loathing is the favorite thing of the "progressive" left.

#3 - LIBERAL GUILT

Liberal guilt, especially white liberal guilt is the result that progressives desire to instil in people who should rightly be afraid of the progressives. Once fear and self doubt has been successfully seeded in the minds of liberals the guilt can be used to cement the whole nasty mess together.

Fear, loathing and guilt are the three toxic parts that combine in a miasma that blocks reason and destroys the individual. They are weapons of the mind that destroy perception of reality and create a vacuum that will be filled with something. That something will not be reason or truth.

We know how the parts have been stirred and seasoned to bring about the acceptance of Barack Obama. How will they be remixed for Hillary Clinton?

Piling On in the Twitter-verse

The recent flap about Justine Sacco has taken a strange turn. It seems that certain people in the media are offended more by the fact that the social media crowd were so quick to jump on the "bash Justine" bandwagon and that her employer was so quick to fire her.

Just to put this in context ...

• Justine Sacco was a Public Relations director for a web hosting business.

• She is supposed to know how electronic media works and should have known better than to pull a juvenile stunt like that.

• Regardless of her intentions, Justine's twitter comments were not only stupid, they were completely uncalled for, unnecessary, unprofessional and obviously an embarrassment to her employer.

• Her employer HAD to fire her for all of those reasons.

ALL of this is quite regardless of what the social media jackals did to propagate the incident.

Of course there is a certain morbid fascination (like the proverbial train wreck) of seeing something like this unfold. Social media followers knew she was toast while she was still in the air and were waiting for the inevitable to unfold once the plane landed. But, I find this sudden concern by MSM types to make her a victim very comical .... I've seen quite few examples of these "Moral and Intellectual Superiors" broadcasting their mental excrement in the same way. Perhaps they are just a little concerned about something like this happening to themselves?

Of course if she was Canadian ... she might try claiming that she had been "cyber bullied"

Center of the Universe

AKA Toronto ON, after a weekend of snow and ice accompanied by electrical power outages the pressing issue in the minds of Trawnatonians is apparently that Mayor Ford did not declare a "State of Emergency".

Never mind that the power company crews are effectively removing the fallen trees that are the primary cause of all power outages as they knocked down or simply cause arcing and blown breakers.

Never mind that most of Ontario lies outside the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and that many of those areas have far more work to do to clean up the mess.

Never mind that all of the work is getting done without ANY participation by any politician ANYWHERE.

And mostly never mind that that the ONLY thing these political clowns in Trawna have had to say is this feeble minded suggestion that the Mayor of Toronto is wrong for keeping out of the way of those who actually are working to restore utility service.

BTW ... Toronto the perfect has a bylaw making it illegal for home owners to cut branches or remove trees from their property. The city also does not keep trees pruned and does not remove any branches or trees unless they are diseased. They leave it up to the utilities to perform removal AFTER incidents like wind, snow and ice storms. This does not constitute an emergency ... it is willful neglect leading to expensive consequences and disruption.

A&E hit show Duck Dynasty is getting flack from the usual suspects over Phil Robertson comments.

I for one just KNEW this was going to be coming. The typical response of those liberal/lefty elitists who feel free to denigrate EVERYTHING about the Robertson clan and the TV show in the most vile and disrespectful language is always AOK eh? But tell the simple truth about the social cripples who are the darlings of politically correct thought and it's all  out war on the messenger.

Phil has opinions about perversion and sinfulness that is rampant in our world and he is right about the destructive impact on our society that comes from the acceptance of deviant behaviour.

So ... A&E has decided to punish Phil for his perceived affronts. Too freekin bad for you liberal shit heads. Nobody has any obligation to accept deranged and perverted behaviour nor do we have any obligation to withhold our opinions on the matter.

I always get a big kick out lefty clowns who try to pretend that their once public debauched  lifestyles did not happen.

Lenore Zann complains    that a twitter post showing her naked in a TV drama where she portrayed a lesbian prison inmate is illegal. Citing legislation that is yet to be passed the 54 year old ex actress and NDP MLA in Nova Scotia is threatening a juvenile twitter commenter who pointed out her past professional behavior. Her complaint is that the juvenile is "bullying"her.

That's rich!

"Actress" performs graphically violent and pornographic scenes in 2008.
"Actress" becomes politician in 2009.
Politician is exposed in social media in 2013.
Politician responds by making threats while complaining of being threatened.
Politician cites non-existent legal grounds and runs to police for support.
Politician complains that the "work" she did was not pornographic (in spite of the explicitly violent and sexual nature of the video).

The concept of "Too Big to Fail" holds no water in the land of Oz ...

Holden Motors Shutting Down ...

Australian Broadcasting Corp ... ABC (the equivalent of CBC in Canada) Blames the Conservative government ... of course.

They fail to mention that in spite of decades of taxpayer funded subsidies Holden Motors was losing money and losing it big time. Holden just waited out the end of the subsidies and once it was clear that there was no more coming ... pulled the plug.

Other factors include, UAW style compensation and benefits (unsustainable) and pension plans.

Never mind of course, government environmental restrictions that are beyond absurd.

Australia is a tiny domestic market and there is NO place for manufacturers to export to.

Ford had already announced that it was shutting down Australian operations in 2016.

Toyota remains the only manufacturer in Australia.

Labour governments have effectively wiped out 20 years of economic prosperity in the three year term of Julia Gillard. I'm sure Australians thank her for her service.

But I'm sure they'll have him back after things cool off.

How about that Martin Bashir stating that he wished to see someone shit in Sarah Palin's mouth? Fired! We'll see when and where he resurfaces.

Let's not forget the incessant slobbering love affair of Chris Mathews for all things Obama and hate  on for anything and anyone who questions the Chicago Jesus? Just yesterday the creep was embracing Al Sharpton ... both literally and in the spirit of slandering the GOP as worse than "apartheid" supporters.

But the best of the best and the reason we need a capitol "P" in MSNBC has got to be Melisa Harris-Perry. Perry went on an on-air rant in which she determines that the use of Obama's name is in fact RACIST ... so long as you are not given implicit permission by being a) Black or b) Liberal.

A Measure of What Exactly?

Recently, a number of reports were delivered to the House of Commons as a follow up to a Liberal MP's  question about the use or abuse of Government Copyright.

While it may be good to know what our various government bureaucracies are doing with materials we tax payers are paying for, it seems that demanding a status report on copyright issues from every last agency is more than a little high handed. Not to mention ... most likely counter productive.

First off, I really don't believe that policing the use copyright material is a proper function or responsibility of  the agencies.

Secondly, any material that is produced should be considered the property of the taxpayer and available for free and unrestricted use.

There are terms of use posted with any government sourced material that usually prohibit unauthorized reproduction and especially reproduction for commercial purposes.

Personally though, I see little reason to complain about anyone making it simpler to access maps. charts and data that are provided on government web sites for public use. The reason being that most of this material is obscured by inefficient or even non-functioning search engines and incomprehensible data base structures.

If anyone wants to copy National Film Board movies, I say fill your boots. This stuff is supposed to be in the public domain. Hurry up and get it ALL on You Tube.

Archives of public documents? What are we protecting here? If it is not already classified, there is no good reason to be restricting access or use.

So ... Just What Is The Deal?  Well, for one thing I find it kind of coincidental that the demand for reporting only goes back to January 2006 ... the end of Liberal governance. Perhaps an opportunity to manufacture another faux controversy?

I can just imagine the sort of sensational headlines in the G&M and breathless ledes at CBC etal....

"Conservatives  Fail to Secure Public Property" or some such drivel. Of course ... no question about the status of this property previous Liberal governments!

Survival Basics

I inherited a Woods winter bag that was made in the 1950s.

It weighed over 40 pounds and had a down inner bag like a duvet that slipped between the layers of the waxed canvas outer bag. The inside surface of the canvas was covered with wool blanket (very scratchy).
The whole thing was 7ft long when put together and the downside was the weight. Used properly it would protect you at any temperature.

Woods rated the bag at -60 f  but even if that were hyperbole I can attest that it kept me warm and dry in -28c weather. All I needed was a sled to haul it.

Like many things of that era ... it was the quality of design and materials combined with decent manufacturing skills and quality control that made the sleeping dependable and rugged.

Today ... with seemingly endless standards and ratings protocols you can't rely on anything to do what it is supposed to do. Leaving us to ask the question ... just why the heck are we paying for all this crap when we were better off relying on manufacturers who cared what their customers said about the products ... and our own judgement.

Winter Sleeping Bag Temperature Ratings .... seem to be less than reliable.

The key take away from this hiking enthusiast magazine is that women need at least 10 - 15 degrees more protection than men. And everyone needs bags that are rated for lower temperatures.

That being said ... there was never a woman who complained about cold in my sleeping bag.
