The term Neocon is being bandied about quite loosely these days!

I got called that a little while ago by someone who didn't quite have the guts to say it to my face but rather chose to use the term as an epithet while talking behind my back to a mutual acquaintance ..... they shouldn't have been so worried about it! I'd admit to the fact that I meet the definition of neocon.

But I guess the fact that these people who believe it to be an ultimate sort of slur are too ingrained in their own self righteousness to understand that the foundations of neo-conservatism lie in very real and undistorted understanding of the ultimate futility and falseness of modern Liberalism.

In most cases it seems that those who use the NeoCon label as an epithet don't even know what it means! Other than that someone who opposes their POV might be one and is dangerous to their sense of self importance.

Irony Irony Irony ..... that the self described "Progressive" is really at heart a self loving chicken heart who always believes their self to hold the moral high ground regardless of the falseness of their assumptions and the hypocrisy of their own behaviour!

Yep! Go ahead and call me a NEOCON only next time say it to my face!

BTW - In order to actually be a "Neo - Conservative" I think I would have had to be a Liberal first and in the early post WWII years of 1945 to 1953 or there about ..... subsequently having an awakening to the reality of the utter fallaciousness of modern liberalism and it's adherents!

As it is the more accurate term would be "Post Neocon" or possibly "Post Modern Conservative" !

In any case it really does not matter because since I am NOT a Liberal I feel absolutely NO need rely on such labels to define myself.

Gone Fishin' - Saturday

Summer Time .... and the livin' is easy... Cat Fish are jumpin' ...... with that tune running through my head Shere Khan (Dust My Broom) and me from here got busy with a day of fishing on The Red River just a little north of Selkirk .....

I was reminded of the Joe Peschi/Danni Glover movie with that title for some reason..

Not that Shere Khan or I had any slapstick gaffs or comic pratfalls to report.

Well... maybe just the little oversight of forgetting a tie down that kept the boat attached to the trailer when we were launching ...... BUT Hey !! Stuff happens when it's 06:00 and the Tim's hasn't kicked in yet!! Right??!!

Ok ... I am not making fun of Shere here but poking some fun at myself because I did stand there watching the trailer floating sideways with the boat ..... away from the dock with only a single ..... ? wtf ?.... completely failing to connect the dots as to the possible causes of this abnormal behaviour by a trailer! :)

No harm done and we got launched by 06:20 without any other drama.....

As we settled in on a nice quiet spot and the sun climbed high enough to shine over the banks and burn off the mist ..... we started to see a few wild friends. A family of three (yes 3 can you spot them all here?) deer came down the the west shore for a morning drink! Mom and two Bambi's......


Earlier there was a sandhill crane nearby but with the mist we couldn't get a picture.

Later on a Red Tailed Hawk and also a Bald Eagle!

The Catfish were jumping all day and no bugs to be seen. It was a lazy day and the only thing keeping me from having a snooze was that other guy catching all the fish!


This cagey guy was edging closer with every pass as he meandered around our stringer!















Day's End .... 18:00hrs! That's 12 hours in the boat gone by like a cat nap on a mid summer afternoon!















Day's catch .... the take home! Shere was catching them at about 10 to 1 for my efforts.
Not that it mattered though .... this was a really great day that went way too fast.

Do Liberals or Conservatives Read More?

And ... Does it make a difference?

An interesting question brought up by commenter Ted over at Small Dead Animals in the reader tips post today.

There's some data from a poll by AP and Ipsos showing that those identified as Liberal tend to read more.

As a fairly well read person I've found that material worth reading has become relatively scarce.

Re-reading classics is a lot more rewarding for me that suffering through the half baked work of often uninformed, misinformed and deluded modern authors.

If Other conservatives feel like I do about the state of affairs of non-fiction writing then I can understand why they would be reading less.
It's highly likely that some are Reading more and getting less value for their time and money.

There is an art to learning how to be discerning.

In any case the real question about reading is why a person reads. Escapism or education, gratification or growth?

To gargle or drink from the fountain of knowledge??

Judging by the behaviour of liberals in general the kinds of choices they make and the ideas they tend to support along with the kinds of argument and reasoning offered by those that I see....

I'm inclined to think that the tendency of those "well read" liberal folks is to gargle a lot!

The Globe and Mail folks have been busy too ... with 1500 anonymous edits!
They too do not mention their own activity while implying impropriety on the part of others!

New York Times write about other's questionable editing and fails to mention their own 1300 plus anonymous changes to Wikipedia!

The BBC On-line offers a mea-culpa ( sort of) !

Now when and where exactly did the BBC find the time to investigate the 7000 odd anonymous edits? I've tried to do this kind of cross checking and it is tedious and MANUAL.....
I'll give Peter and the Beeb a D minus for this. It would have been an A plus if they had bothered to substantiate the claim about all those "Good Faith" edits. Failing to do so is just indicative of deeper problems at the BBC.
Another question that they fail to address: Why is it that people working at the BBC find it necessary to make so many edits in the first place?

What A Great Weekend!

Well my old friend Don who I worked with for about 15 years has hit the milestone 50th year for himself. His wife Terri put on a big todo (supposed to be a surprise) that involved a whole lot of people and about 7 deep fired turkeys.

On the way to Sandy Bay I stopped to get our old friend Barry at the family farm near Tyndall.

I just love this spot in the yard!















After a short drive up the end of 59 hwy we arrived at the scene:















Those are the deep fryers waiting for the birds!












A short walk to the shore provided a visit with some wildlife. Loons were busy fishing with the backdrop of Elk Island across the channel in the lower end of Lake Winnipeg















Plates were piled high at the feast and after supper we played guitar and sang Johnny Cash songs until Midnight. A few stragglers talked old times and new plans until 2 AM and that was the day!

My view is that books are not the problem. I firmly believe that laws governing sedition can and should be applied to anyone using a public forum to incite acts against the state or it's citizens.
It is clear that Islamists are doing this and while their Chosen literary relic provides a lot of the fuel for the rhetorical fires it remains an act of choice to interpret and preach the messages of unlawful and treasonous action. It's a choice that needs to be answered for by the perpetrators.

So use the legal statutes already ... It's like using a gun .... all it takes is the guts to do it. The justice and security agencies of our nation have an obligation to take aim and pull the trigger!

Blind Faith?

Exactly! Quick cash and BIG payoffs are there for the taking as Private equity bosses liquidate their personal equity through public sell offs of their business in a new round of IPO's.

Although the author goes on at length about risk management and debt the real story IMO is in the actions of the largest individual stakeholders. These guys and gals KNOW how to hang on to their money and make it grow! Watch and learn.

So in what looks like a trend to privatization of public companies the real story is that this is just a precursor to a new round of rejuvenation as more investments become available.

Laws of supply and demand will prevail!
However, if you are a small investor ( aren't we all?) where do you get the cash to take advantage of the new buying opportunities?
Don't count on credit because that's the underlying issue here! Money supply is diminishing due to the long term effects of low interest rates. That's why the big dogs are going back to equity deals.
The writing is on the wall and that means time to cash out for Joe Schmoe's like me and probably you. Get yourself some liquid assets while the getting is good and be ready for the feeding frenzy that's going to come.

Went to the beach at Twin Lakes Beaches near St. Laurent....

Forgot the darned camera so nothing to show for it except more miles on the old Truck and a bunch of empty beer cans! Cans you say? Well yes..... because they chill the fastest on ice in a cooler!
Nothing fancy to quench the thirst when you're buying beer at the St.Laurent store so it's LabLight and keep it cold pal.

So the Manipogo Festival was on and it's Metis Days.... I wanted to keep in the max relax zone on the beach so kept the sightseeing stuff to a minimum.... there were fiddlers ... there was some bannock and fried fish ... there was corn on the cob to be had over in the town.

Sunday at the cottage had free beer ( for me thanks Rob&Joanne!) and grilled smokies and European style wieners from my favorite butcher shop Millers Meats om St. Mary's road in the Peg. Fresh buns, corn on the cob and a killer Caesar Salad with uber garlic and tons of mozzarella. After hours splashing around in the surf a on really windy day with a west wind ripping in at about 30 klicks with hot sun and fun waves a hearty an simple meal was just what the doctor ordered!

Apparently the hogs are in a lather in their pens at the CBC over news that a CPC insider is working for an HR firm will be reviewing their resumes.

As the search for new blood in senior positions like Director of news gets underway a memo was sent around to internal candidates to send their CV's to Tom Long.
Apparently Mr. Long is a long time CPC member and used to belong to the Reform party.

Scary stuff!

Of course the memo got dispatched quickly to an NDP pol well know for his bloviating and animated displays of righteous indignation , Charlie Angus ... who of course "Raised the Alarm"!
What alarm is that? "Lookout there's a fox in the hen house?"

CTV GlobeMedia are right on top of it and I can hardly wait to see what will come out of the Red Rag of Toronto.....

Well ..... If anyone thinks that the use of HRCs to exert retribution against people who offend will end without political pressure on those establishments forget it.
This instance is telling enough!

HRC Used as Weapon to Silence Opinion! At the Blog Free Dominion.
We have a fembot educator taking offense at someone's opinion. Don't worry we have a taxpayer funded remedy for her hurt!

That an individual is allowed to abuse a public institution under the false guise of "Human Rights" is an abomination.

This is exactly what is wrong with the commissions and evidence of the very real need to define the boundaries of their activities.
Or to eliminate them completely!

We are a nation governed by law and do not require the judgment of unelected and un-accountable bureaucratic bodies to make or define the laws of Canada.

As if we as a nation are better in any way because of a Joe Stalin style commissariat or star chamber tribunal that acts with such impunity!

The HRC's whether Federal or Provincial are a blight on a free society And have no place in this nation.
