Little Cat Feet

Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Mr. Toad Lives Here

We have a resident toad living in our backyard, near the coolness of the deck. The yard is always kind of cool & muddy there, dad tries hard to grow grass in that spot but it doesn't get much sun. Mom has some shade loving hostas that like that spot, and apparently so does Mr. Toad. Mom almost ran him over with the lawn mower. That's how we discovered him, now we see him all the time. He blends in pretty well with his surroundings doesn't he.

Pretty Zolie GIrl

Zolie loves to hang out on our deck now that is is warmer out. She keeps pretty much to the garage in the winter and colder months. She will sit on either the front porch or the back deck just like she owns the place, which she pretty much does. She doesn't seem to leave the yard much anymore either. She has all she needs right here.   Mom still cannot get close, but she tells her how beautiful she is every time she sees her. And she truly is a beauty, but a wild one.

Glow Cat and a Thank You from Mom

Mom was feeling kind of low after her mother died this spring and a good friend of hers saw this while out shopping and bought it to cheer her up.  We have named him Glow Cat because that's what he does. He has a solar cell and he glows like crazy in the dark. He looks a little menacing, even though he has a welcome fish in his mouth, but that's just so people will know the inside of the house is also guarded by some real live cats who happen to be very fierce.
"Thank you"
He is almost the same size as Zolie, and for awhile when mom would glance at the steps she would think it was our Zolie girl sitting there!
Mom would also like to thank everyone for their sympathy and well wishes following her mom's passing. Grandma Ruth lived a long full 92 years and was an amazing woman who loved animals and especially cats very much. She would have loved all of you too, just like we do!

Growing Goosies Gaining Ground

There I was, just relaxing with mom on the deck helping her read when all of a sudden came the gaggle of neighborhood geeses traipsing through our yard. The babies have grown from darling fluffballs into lanky adolescents in no time at all. With one parent in front,  and the other pulling uip the rear and watching for stragglers they looked just like the groups of pre-school children who also traipse through out neighborhood with their teachers from the nearby day care business.
The geese continued their tour of the street, eventually ending back at the neighborhood pond, where they hatched and live and will probably come back next year to have their own little hatch-lings.  I didn't rush at them, by the way, just sat next to mom and let them honk their way across the street and down the block.  -Scout

Easy Like Sunday

Fabulous at 15 and 10
Thanks everyone for all the Happy Birthday wishes for Scout and Myself these last couple weeks! Our birthdays are so close together it makes it hard for mom to forget them, so that's an added bonus!
In other news, I had my annual check up on Friday. Since I am now 15 mom opted to have the added bloodwork extras done including thyroid, liver and kindey function, blood counts and diabetes screens. Dr. Rich was so delighted with the results he called her from the airport while he was waiting to catch a flight. Not one reading was slightly higher or lower than it should have been....everything was in the center of the scale smack dab normal!! He said even the lab sent a message back with the results...."Fabulous for 15!"
