Little Cat Feet

Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Toby Makes A Blog Appearance

Here's Toby our guinea piggie munching on his timothy hay! He's still doing great. Mom loses track but we think he's about 6 now. That's getting up there in piggie years.  She picked some flowers out of the garden and put them in a jar by the kitchen sink. They are cheery and bright. Bachelor Buttons, Orinch Cosmos and some wee purple Hollyhocks.  We wonder if Toby might like to munch them?  Better safe than sorry, he won't get any.

Mars Needs Purrs

Neighborkitty Mars needs some purrs. He's the orinch kitty who lives next door who comes over to see our mom when ever he can escape without being noticed.  He likes to sit by our Mom when she goes out to read on the porch. He knows a good cat lady when he sees one! He's a older kitty, about 13.  He's not been feeling well lately, throwing up his foods and losing a lot of weight.  His Mom Lady told our Mom that he jumped off the counter today, ran into a wall and had a little seizure. He wasn't walking right and fell over a couple times, then was ok. This made mom cry when she heard it because it is exactly what happened to Scooby except he died in her arms. Mars is a precious little guy with a teeny tiny "mew" and if we can get the blogosphere purring for him...well, those purrs can move mountains!  THANKS!

Nap Cushions

Summer is when the cushions come out for the outdoor furniture.  Mom brings them in every evening because they really get soggy if they get rained on in the night.  They're old, not the new modern weatherproof stuff.  None of that modern stuff in this house lemme tell ya!  *sigh*
The cushion pile is a popular place for Shaggy & myself to perch upon and rule over the kingdom or snag a much needed nap.  Sometimes we are even on them together!!! -Scout

Good Bye Patches

Yesterday

Patch & Dad: Best Buds
Today Patches went to his new home. His original momma, Mary Kay came over to our house with her daughter, whom he will be living with now.  It has been 10 months since we took him in as a favor to Mary Kay since she was moving to assisted living and could not take him with her. Patches himself is an old cat, 18, but very spry for his age, and in great health!   Her daughter could not take him originally because she had two elderly cats of her own and could not take on a third one.  She said if for some reason it didn't work out for us to give her a call and she'd figure something out. Of course at the time we thought this was "for keeps" but he had been an only cat all those years and he did not adjust to Shaggy & Scout....mostly Scout.  He started peeing all over the house and since March he's been confined to the spare bedroom only coming out under strict supervision.  I couldn't turn my back on him at all or he'd trot off and pee somewhere.  I called her daughter last May, she told me both her cats had died in the meantime, and she said she'd be glad to take Patches.  Only thing is, she had water damage in her small apartment and it was being gutted and redone.  She didn't want to bring him into that situation and asked if I could keep him a little longer. The work was to be done at the end of June. I said I'd had Patches all this time, a little longer wouldn't hurt. So contractors and schedules being what they are, here we are in August. Her floor still isn't done but she'd committed to me to take him on the 16th, (today) regardless.  My husband loves Patches to pieces and spent these last two nights sleeping with him in the spare room.  Mary Kay claimed Patches hated men, but Patches and my husband bonded tight.  He would go in and give him brushie time every evening after work, nap with him on weekends. I love the little guy too, I'd been his catsitter for 8 years before I took him in and our parting was hard for me too.  I wept, but he just couldn't live out his life in that spare bedroom so this is the best thing all around, for Shaggy & Scout too.   He was so stressed here, it's for the best all around.  Thanks for sticking with me and reading this, I felt a need to share the whole story.  Mom Lynne

Bed Rest

Here I am attempting to nap on mom's nap blankie.Yes, she's a grown woman with a nap blankie.  Great Gramma Julia made it for her from yarn she had mom pick out. Great Gramma did that for her 3 grandchildren (one of which is our dad), their spouses (mom)  and her 5 great-grandchildren (2 of which are my boys) in the years leading up to her death at 101.  Great Gramma is our Dad's gramma.  It's a great blankie, made even warmer by my furs which are on it too.  Mom & I have had many great naps with it -Scout

On Patrol

Here I am on patrol in the back yard today.  I was stalking some evil voles when "guess who" came prancing over with the camera!
Thus, no voles today.

Somebody's Watching You.....

Mom turned around from where she was sitting on the couch and....eeek!....there I was just quietly watching her as she was reading.
I love to creep her out like that.

Stepping-Stones on a Summer Day

Happy Sun & Stars
It's a nice lazy summer day, one of those we'd like to bottle up for February.  We walked along with mom as she took pictures of our stepping stone collection.  We showed the ladybug ones last week, but since we are showing the collection here they are again.  Some people like butterflies, some like dragonflies, mom likes ladybugs. Ever since she was a wee little girl they have been her favorite insect.

UND Fighting Sioux gnome with hockey puck
Today we went out on the porch with her to snoopervise her book reading.  Lots of obnoxious woofies being walked by their humans and peeing on everything.  It's quiet again now that the chainsaws are put away after taking care of all the trees that blew down last month in the Big Storm. In other news, I caught a moff in the grass! It was delicious!
