We have been wanting to check out San Antonio for a long time now.
With the kids having a longer weekend than usual we thought it was a perfect time to go and check it out.
First stop check out the Alamo!
We could tell walking around at night this place was pretty special.
After using the stroller to get around and proving that it was a bit difficult to do so we opted to go on the boat tour and then have the availability to a water taxi for the rest of the day.
The tour was very interesting and worth it.
We instantly fell in love with the trees and the architecture.
In the summertime there are performances on the stage behind Violet.
Can you spot the creepy faces?
Theses along with gargoyles were put on this financial building to ward off any bad luck, not a year or two later the great depression hit...so much for that.
We got off at the black pearl area and headed to the farmers market and finally had some good nourishment.
It was really a cool area.
We went the entire length of the river and then headed back to the Plaza where the Alamo is located.
Lot's of beautiful mosaic everywhere.
We wandered around the grounds.
Then Papi needed a nap and the kids were dying to go swimming.
The pool was so cold, so the Jacuzzi was the favorite spot.
Then we wandered over to the Plaza of the Americas area.
and found an "Epic" playground according to Violet.
Walking back to the river walk we come upon random activities for kids and adults making music waiting for the light to change.
Everywhere you walk in the area you just see beauty.
Big trees, beautiful plazas, these with the charming lights hanging.
Last time on the boat for this trip.
We got to eat on the river-walk, but it had to be kid friendly so Rain forest Cafe it is.
We sat outside and got to enjoy people watching. I would take the kids around the inside of the restaurant to enjoy the fun it offers.
It was a win-win.
Sunday we went to church at a chapel that was a Spanish Ward.
But we also noticed they had the churchs name in Spanish outside.
It was pretty neat.
Leaving town..
We LOVED San Antonio. By far the coolest city we have been too in Texas.
We can see ourselves coming back for sure.
Other cool fact we never got back in the van until we checked out of the hotel.
On our drive home we drove thru some of the German cities of Texas they were interesting but the kids were ready to come home.
On a side note we stayed at La Quinta, and Benicio kept saying "I wanna go to La Quinta" he really loved it.
Surprise! The Easter Bunny came!
The kids were excited. They missed the Easter egg hunt but we said we would do it another day.
It was a fun getaway!
