2013-07-08 Family Vacation to the Oregon Coast Beach Time

Our last evening we spent hanging out on the beach.  This vacation was just what mom needed.  I am so blessed to have my family!

2013.07.08 Family Vacation to Oregon Coast Crab Pots!

It was hard to know who had the most fun crab potting!!  I LOVED it.  It is my style of fishing.  You sink a pot down to the bottom of the ocean.  Hang out, visit, eat a snack... pull the crab pot up and see what you got.  The crabs shell had to be about 6 inches long for it to be a keeper.  So we would pull up the pot and dump the crabs out, they would all start to scatter.  They walk sideways so eventually they all made it back to the bottom of the Ocean.  But it is a race to measure them before they dive off the peer.  We were very fortunate to get a Keeper!  It was the only Keeper of the day.  The people that rented us the pot were great with the kids too.  The boiled the crab, gave Colton the shell, and then let us all try it.  It was delicious!  The rest of the trip we spent a lot of time walking like a crab ourselves!

2013-07-06 Family Vacation to Oregon Coast Exploring Tide Pools

We woke up early so that we could catch the low tide.  We wanted to check out all the tide pools.  We had a blast running and jumping in natures playground.  We found barnacles, sea anemone's, starfish, crabs, oysters and jelly fish.  We enjoyed using all of our senses to discover all that the Oregon coast had to offer.  Brian peeled a starfish off a rocky cliff so the kids could see it.  When they were done he threw it back in the Ocean.  Scout went in looking for it without really thinking about it.  He wasn't too sure what to think of the Ocean.  He was pretty entertaining on the beach with us.

2013-07-05 Family Vacation to Oregon Coast Hunting Seashells

The Oregon Beach is such a friendly place.  We were able to let Scout run and frolic and everyone loved him.  While we were playing with Scout we found a sand dollar jackpot.  It was so neat to see them whole just laying around the beach.  Colton found a crab and figured out how to pick him.  If you put a stick near it, the crab will pinch the stick and then you have him to check out.  Brian and Colton had a lot of fun playing with the crab.  Jillian, Jace and I were entertained with drawing pictures in the sand and dodging the waves!!
