Our sweet little D

March 6th started like every other Tuesday for us, Jeff went to work and I was babysitting two little girls from my ward. Then lunch came and our lives were changed in an instant! Our adoption caseworker Chad called and told us about this beautiful little boy who we were chosen to be parents for. He was born that morning at 12:48 am and he was waiting for us to come up and meet him. As much as we wait and prepare and talk about adoption, those phone calls seem surreal! I gave Jeff a good scare when I called him because he was driving and I told him I needed him to pull over so I could talk to him (he was certain someone had died!). When I told him we had a baby waiting for us, he just started laughing. It was awesome. I brought Hailey in to get her shoes and socks on and told her there was something really important I needed to tell her. She looked at me all serious (because I was crying) and I said there is a little baby boy at the hospital who is waiting for us to come and be his family. Her eyes got wide and her mouth gasped "We're gonna have a baby?!!?" To which I replied "Yes, you're going to be a big sister" and she jumped down from her seat and ran to the living room to tell her friends the news. It was seriously awesome. We quickly dropped the girls I was babysitting off, and got to the hospital by 3:00! Derek was all bruised and swollen and an absolutely beautiful little miracle. The nurses were all crying when we got there and it was so exciting to see him and hold him for the first time. It truly was love at first sight! We had no doubt in our minds that we were meant to be his family. We were able to stay at the hospital with him until he came home Thursday afternoon. It has been wonderful, we completely adore him. Hailey loves to sing to him to help calm him down, and put his binky in for him, and kiss his head, and talk to him, sit by him, hold him, anything with him. She is a fantastic big sister! It has been an amazing first month with this little guy, he is wonderful. My heart is still overflowing with gratitude to his birthmother, who we didn't meet or know, for making such an incredibly hard decision for Derek. I feel like the luckiest woman in all the world.

Family Vacation Time!

SPLASH PARKS AND SWIMMING WERE HAILEY'S FAV'S IN VEGAS!
HIKING WITH THE COUSINS
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
DVPT REUNION AND GRANDPA'S BEAR STORIES IN ISLAND PARK.
FISHING WITH DADDY!
We've had some great family time this summer. I'll have to post pic's of our garden, because Hailey has been an AWESOME helper with weeding it, except yesterday when she pulled the pumpkin plant up :( We're trying to re-grow it. Family time is definitely fun time!

Time Flies

We've been saying for a few days that we really need to update our blog and our FB pages with pictures and all of the exciting news in our lives; then we realize we don't have super exciting lives. But anyway, I swear I can't keep up with the growth of Hailey. That girl is amazing and smarter than a 12 year old. She has no fear issues and I'll prove that with the following examples:
1. Climb out of your tree swing buckles by yourself.
2. Climb to the top of the ladder which ends at the top of the roof.
3. Ride your bike as fast as your little legs will push you.
4. Touch the snake at the zoo like it's a fluffy little bunny.
5. Jump off of the trampoline by yourself.
6. Go down the fire pole at the playground.
These are just a few of the things that are turning my hair gray. (I haven't actually found any gray hairs, but I think my heart has stopped a few times). She LOVES her balance bike and cruises around on it everyday. She is really good at it and is pretty safe, and extremely cute riding it.
We've got an eventful summer of camping trips, visiting Las Vegas, swimming, bike riding, and lots of park time-they'll all be fun!
I feel so lucky to have this amazing little girl and of course my best friend as my husband to go through life with. We're hoping for lots of pictures in all of the next posts which may or may not appear until 3 months later :)

March...Really?!??!

Can it seriously be March already? I don't know where the time is all going, but I can definitely say it isn't being wasted around here. We had a really fun time celebrating Jeff's 31st birthday this year. It's been pretty fun for birthdays recently because Hailey LOVES to sing happy birthday to everyone. February Jeff and I had the most incredible date weekend ever! We got to go to Utah and take Hailey to the discovery museum (hello, running and touching everything and not getting in trouble for it? She was in heaven!), then Jason & Alisa took her for a sleep-over while Jeff and I went out for dinner then to the Jazz vs. Suns game...6TH ROW! It was so much fun and Hailey loved her very 1st sleepover. Since then, we've just been busy with church callings, working, and trying to stay happy in all this snow. I may or may not have asked Jeff several times to move me back to Las Vegas ;) Spring weather please please please come soon.

Update

I guess it's about time for an update! These are some of my favorite recent pics. The last is Hailey in her new princess jammies that Grandma D. made for christmas. (sorry i can't figure out how to flip it) She think's it's a halloween costume and not jammies, but she sure likes to dress up in them. We all had such a great christmas being around our families. We even got to see Bud's family for a few days before christmas. Hailey loves her cousins, all of them! Anytime we are headed to a grandma's house she says "my cousins there?" It's so cute. Hailey rang in the new year trying to sneak out and play games with us, but we kept sending her back and she ended up falling asleep in the hallway. She's so cute. Some of the cousins were over at our house and all had candy bracelet's on one day. It was so cute to see them all in a circle just chowing down on their wrists! We went bowling for Uncle Mike's birthday last week and all the kids sat patiently waiting their turns...for about 1 minute! Then we were off chasing them in every direction the rest of the time, but they had fun. I still can't believe 2011 is here and January is half over...Jeff's almost 31! We hope 2011 brings everyone happiness, and us another little one ! ;)
