William is 9 months old Today!

Wow what just happened to by little baby??  Well he is 9 months old today he is as old as it took to bake him in my belly.  I love this little man more than words can describe.
Here is an update on what he can do and what he has learned in 9 months!!

  • He learned how to to breast feed, or should I say I learned how!!  It only took him a few months to figure it out.
  • He loves to sleep in his own bed now!!  But still wakes up at night not sure if its because he is hungry or he just wakes up needing somebody to hold him.  Its a work in progress and I know it will get better!  He went from waking up every 2 hours know to about every 4 hours.  But last night he was asleep from about 9:30 to 4 am so I think thats pretty good.  If he can only keep that up!  Or even better sleep the whole night!
  • He loves his morning naps!
  • Eating solid foods,  Started rice cereal around 4 months, then onto oatmeal cereal, now he can feed him self! Peas, green beans, pears, cooked carrots, crackers all sorts of things!
  • He can drink from a sippy cup
  • put his binkey in his mouth
  • Loves splashing in the water for bath time
  • He sat up like a big boy all by himself around 6 months
  • He started crawling at the end of his 7 month
  • He has begun to pull him self up into standing positions
  • He can say "baba" "baba" and "MA MA MA MA" Not that he knows what he is saying but thats what comes out of his mouth!
  • He loves looking at photos and having you tell who the people are in the photos
  • He loves it when we read a book to him before going to bed at night.
Any way he has learned so much in 9 months and we love him through and through! here are some photos from the last 9 months!!

Happy Anniversary

Wow 8 yrs ago today Ben and I were getting hitched!!  It only seems like it was yesterday.

We have accomplished a lot in just 8 years.  I finished up school with both an associates and bachelors degrees from Boise State in Radiology.  Ben is just about done with his turf management degree at Walla Walla Community College. I have a great job with St. Alphonsus in Nampa in Ultrasound. We bought and sold our first home and then bought another home in Horseshoe Bend,. and who could forget our handsome little man William, made us parents in July.

I am looking forward to the next 8 years and to see what joy and excitement it will bring.

This was our first family photo.
Happy Anniversary, Love! I love you!

Happy Birthday to Ben and our new Nephew Derek!

So another year has past and Ben turned another year older on September 19th.  So Happy Birthday LOVE. Also on this very special day for my husband, he now gets to share his birthday with a very special nephew, Derek.  My sister Janae, or Derek decided that is was time for him to also come into this world a little to early as well.  He was not due untill October 28th so he was born 6 weeks early, unfortunately my sisters water broke and Derek decided to take a turn in her belly so he was feet first instead of head first.  So they ended up doing an emergency C-Section.  Thank goodness everything was alright with both baby and sister.  Bad news is Derek came 6 weeks early and really was not done baking in the oven yet.  However he did end up weighing more than William when he was born.  Derek weighed 6lbs 7 oz and was 6 weeks early William was 5 lbs 14 oz and just 2 weeks early.  It was probably a really good thing that Derek was a little bit bigger so that he can get stronger and breath better everyday.

The reports that I am getting is that he is doing great and gaining weight.  He has to stay in the NICU, untill he can gain a little weight and is breathing good as he is having spells of apnea where he stops breathing and oxygen and heart rated drop, but doctors say that is normal for his age and he will grow out of it soon.

I am glad that William will have a cousin that is just 8 weeks apart,  that is pretty exciting, they can share clothes and toys and be the best of buddies.

I am very thank full for my husband and all the hard work that he does.  SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ben and Derek.

Happy birthday Daddy!

Happy birthday Baby Derek

Our move to Horseshoe Bend Idaho

So this is a belated post for sure!!  We sold our first home back in May and we were able to rent our same home from the people that bought it until we found the home we were looking for! We were kind of specific in what we were looking for so we gave our Realtor a tough job.  So long story short we finally found our home in Horseshoe Bend, i only took 2 months to find. plus it originally had another offer on it and it fell through so we were thr lucky ones to pick it up!

W closed on our new home July 9th,We started our move the weekend of July 12th the same day as my baby shower.  We gave our selves about two weeks to move out of our old home and into the new one.
Our first night in our new home was July 21st.  We had tons of help from family to move all of our stuff. sand my great sister in Law put William's room together the very first day we started to move! I was so grateful for her help I would have never been able to make it as cute as she did!

We tried to put stuff in there place as we moved it in that way it was done and done!  And with me being 36- 37 weeks prego, well I tried not to do too much, but told people where things needed to go!

We were moved into our home for only 6 days and then William was born, we did not have much time to get used to our new place really before he came!

Our home sits on just over 6 aceres, we have a pasture, that we need to get some animals on because the grass is so long,.  Iv'e got this awesome orchard with all sorts of fruit trees.  So I really need to learn how to can now!! A great place for a huge garden, another thing I need to learn.  A big chicken coup, so we can have fresh farm eggs! We still need some chickens though!

Its a pretty sweet home the only down fall is that it feels so far away, however Ben as just over a 30 minute drive into work me on the other hand since I work in Nampa it takes just about an hour, not to mention all the miles we will be putting on our truck! But it will be well worth it.  We love our new home!

These pictures are just of the main living area, there is also a daylight basement with a bedroom, bigTV room, the laundry room and bathroom,  the upstairs portion of our home is just Ben and I's bedroom and bathroom.  Thankfully we were mostly moved in upon Williams arrival.

William is 4 weeks old!

What my baby is already 4 weeks old today.  I feel like I just had him!  how the time flies.

So William and I are still trying to figure each other out.  I am trying to learn what his cries mean, sometimes that is really hard on me as I don't know what he needs and than he cries a lot because I can't figure it out. But it is getting better.

I am trying to keep him on a three hour schedule where he will nurse for however long it takes and then try and keep him active and awake for an hour then a nap for an hour.  I try to feed him every three hours.  It seems as long as we keep somewhat of this schedule going than he is much happier baby.  He eats better as he is really hungry after three hours!

He was the perfect little baby last night he only woke up to eat every three-four hours and then went bsck to sleep. So mommy and daddy actually got some sleep too!

We are so thrilled that this little guy is part of our family!

Here are some pics that were just taken yesterday while he was sleeping.

William Russell Doherty

No one ever told me that being a mom was going to feel this way... So much love, emotion, frustration, no sleep, lots of wet and poopy diapers, baby throw up, changing of clothes, and so much more, but so worth every moment.

Our little guy decided he stayed long enough in mommy's belly and he wanted out to meet his mommy and daddy.  I wasn't due until 8-12-13, but he wanted his birthday to be 7-27-13.  Just a little over 2 weeks early! He topped the scales weighing in at just 5 lbs 14 oz. and just under 18 inches long, he was born at 9:02 p.m.

Williams birth story is a little wild so here it is.

As you all know this was my first pregnancy, and it went with out any complications, other than the nausea, hogging the bed at night with all my pillows, fat, swollen feet near the end, oh and we must not forget about the constipation issue.

Alright so I was always concerned that I would not be able to tell when I was in labor, or questioned wither or not I would know that I was having contractions. Everyone that I ever talked to said that I would know when I would start.  Well little did everyone know I had no idea what was going on when I had actually begun laboring.

Saturday 7-27-13, I had just gotten off the phone talking with my sister Janae, about what items would be good to pack and take with us to the hospital when we actually went to have the baby, I think we also talked some about what contractions would feel like and again asked if I would know! I got off the phone with her just after 4:00 p.m. and felt some fluid leaking from down yonder, it was not a lot of fluid in fact it felt like I had peeed my pants, but I had never done that before.  So I ignored that feeling, and went outside to water my orchard, and then it happened again, and then I started to wonder what is going on.  I then came back inside took a shower and again more trickles of fluid.

Mind you I am home alone when this all started, as my husband had to make a quick trip to McCall, when he had left that he told me not to have a baby today, and that he would probably be home around 5:30.  I get out of the shower and place a towel on the floor in case more fluid were to come,  as I am getting dressed and coming out my hair.  Ben finally calls and says he is on his way home, however this was about 5:30 and he was just leaving McCall which is about an hour and a half away from our new home in Horseshoe Bend.  I must have had a concerned voice over the phone as I said you are just know leaving McCall.  Ben said yes why whats going on, I told him that I started leaking fluid and that I was not sure what was happening, I had not yet started contractions or any pain yet.  I decided it was probably time to contact the Dr. and let them know what was happening and what I should do, because it was the weekend there was the on call physician so I had to wait for her to call me back, She called just before 6:00 and told me that I should probably head on into the hospital.  So here I am all alone in Horsehoe Bend with a 30-40 minute drive to the hospital.  I decided it probably was not a good idea to drive my self to the hospital, with Ben only being an hour and a half a way I decided I would probably have plenty of time as with first pregnancy labors they say can take anywhere from 8-14 hours.  Since I had only had a few contractions at this point I figured I could wait until Ben arrived home.

None of our bags were packed so I was running around getting everything I thought we would need and since I had just made a list of things with my sister over the phone I had a pretty good idea what to grab.  I grabbed lots of stuff and everything for Ben including his contact case and solution, the lab top and clothes for him the only thing I forgot was clean undies for him to change into.  Alright so with all the bags packed and waiting for Bens arrival.  The contractions were starting to come more often. I started keeping track of contractions and writing down what time they would start and for how long the contraction was lasting for.  All of my contractions were in my lower back and quite honestly did not hurt all the bad.  I kept track of contractions for a good hour and they were getting more closer together and lasting a little bit longer.

Finally Ben made it home just past 7:00 p.m. he had the trailer and four wheelers that were hooked up to the truck with other things that needed to be unloaded from the truck.  He came inside and asked if we were going to have a baby today, I sill wasn't completely sure that we would be having a baby, my due date was still 2 weeks away.  Ben asked if he could take a shower and I told him that he better hurry because we still had a little bit of a drive with horseshoe bend hill and all.  He was finally ready and we were off to the hospital!

I think the drive made my contractions a little worse, contractions were still all in my back and they were for sure getting stronger and closer together. It was pretty funny in between each contraction i was able to hold a conversation and be normal but as soon as a contraction would come I could not say a thing but to concentrate on getting through the contraction.

We finally make it to the hospital, Ben drops me off while he goes to park the truck.  I walk in get all checked in, the hospital staff was anticipating my arrival.  i get changed into the hospital gown.  'They left us in the room what felt like forever before they came back.  I remember looking at the clock at 8:15 p.m. just shortly after I had changed.  The nurse finally made it back to my room and had asked me if I would like an epidural, I had told her yes, she asked how soon I would like it, I told her as soon as I could get it.  She then did a test to see if my water had broken and sure enough it was positive.  She then went to check me to see how far dilated I actually was, i think the time at this point was probably 8:30 p.m.  She told me that I was already dilated to 10cm and 100% effaced.  I remember say what really why am I going so fast?  The nurse said that a lot of things are going to be happening and they are going to happen pretty quick, lots of people would be in.  She told me there was no time for the epidural.  they had to get the standby doctor in the room just in case I was ready to push, as they could not get a hold of the actual doctor as she was occupied with another patient. I don't recall the standby doctors name but he was explaining how to push a baby out and what it would feel like.

They finally got a hold of the other doctor I think her name is Dr. Bradford, she arrived just in time for me to push about 4 times and the little baby William came into this world.

What an amazing experience, to have given birth to this beautiful baby boy and what a blessing it was that my labor really only lasted about 4 1/2 hours. Thank goodness we made it to the hospital just in time. I am very thankful for my husband for what a wonerful man he is.

here are some adorable pictures for your veiweing! William looks exactley like his dad! Well for now he does it will be interesting watching this little man grow and to see his little personality develop.
