My latest wee gadget

I’ve hummed and haa-ed about one of these wee gadgets for years … yes I have …

But I no longer need to hum or haa …

Cos this wee baby has come to live at my house and yep, it’s out of its packaging and used already.

Heat Guns - Pink : New scrapbooking and craft products

Why, oh why, did I wait so long to add one of these to my stash … easy peasy and so quick … so I’m thinking I no longer have to sit and wait on paint to dry …

Well, perhaps some paint.

Check it out ...

I’ve never taught a class before, never even gave it any thought to be honest, but the girls are doing their SENZ thing up in Auckland this weekend, so from afar, I thought I would be a little creative as well.

So, if you want to be a little creative this weekend from the comfort and warmth of your own home or want to have a nosey at how I put this layout together ... well you can check it out here ...

http://scottiecraftsnz.blogspot.com/

When I was putting this layout together I had been surfing here and there and saw that the latest word challenge over at Bird is the Word is 'amazing' and you guessed it ... ummmmmmmmmm ... well you can that's what I called my layout ...

http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com/

And ... as you can see, I've been playing with those cake plates again ... and just quietly, that would be again, and again and again as well ... just saying. ROFLMAO ...

They are so quick and easy to put together ... honest they are!!!

Right then, if you are out and about this weekend, wrap up warm ... better still, just stay home and be a little creative.

P.S. love me a little green and purple ... ummmmmmmmmmmm ... but I think you know that!

Don't fall off your chairs now ...

OMG ... I'm getting better in my old age ... at what ... you are probably all thinking and nope, no smart comments required thank you very much ... just saying! Thought I would get in first.

I'm scrapping photos of me, just a little bit more ... I would still far sooner be behind the camera than in front of it ... but I'm getting better ... did I just say that ... lol.

In years to come I don't want anyone looking through my albums thinking to themselves, well where am I ... lol ...

When I was wandering around the $2 shop recently, that really is no longer the $2 shop ... no idea what it's called to be honest ... well anyway, I came across some round cake plate things ... made out of corrugated card ... and wouldn't you know it, they just had to come home with me - they did ... honest! and have I got some plans for them ... well that's if I keep any out of the packet - cos I'm churning through them at a great rate of knots.

I've used a little glam or glaze not sure which one to be honest off the top of my head, but it's oil slick, that much I do know ... well anyway, I've used it on my butterflies and on my Twiddleybitz lampost ... makes the lampost look almost cast iron-ish up close and personal. Love the effect on it. I've grabbed the punches again - funny that and I've double inked with distress ink in places as well. Ummmmmmmmmm, got lots of it on my hands too ...

This is another layout put together using the contents of June's kit from Country Papercraft ...

Right then, that's it from me.

P.S. Dad, if you are catching up on my blog today ... Happy Father's Day ... love you. Mail is on its way.

and another one ...

A little Kraft cardstock on the base of this one ... just for a change ... lol ...

Throw in a little handsewing, that butterfly punch had another outing again and I wanted to leave this one a little more simple shall we say, elegant ... yep ... kinda like that ... a simple and elegant layout ...

Another layout whipped up using the monthly kit from Country Papercraft.

And wait for it ... Meg can journal her little heart out.

On this day ...

Well a wee while ago now [only two months ago] ... this young lady was married ... isn't she stunning ...

Now this young lady is very close to a special friend of mine ... that special friend of mine would be Miss Meg and this young lady would be her sister ...

Well I had the privilege again to scrap a little more with the Velvet Ensemble range of papers that landed on my doorstep from Marg at Country Papercraft in June's kit. The whole kit is absolutely gorgeous ... lots of bits and bobs in it and love my bitsers to add here and there.

So Miss Meg is getting a few more layouts to add to her album.

This layout has a piece of transparency in it ... I cut a hole out of the cardstock and the transparency is adhered behind the cardstock ... love this wee trick - came across it in one of the Scrapbooking Memories mags recently. In this layout it is showing white ... only because I popped a piece of white paper behind it for photographic purposes ...

I've added a few more punches to my collection just recently ... a wee rose leaf punch and very 'noice' it is too, together with a butterfly punch ... had a wee play with this one when I was at scrap camp and thought to myself, I'm having me one of those thank you very much. So I've used both of them on this layout and my trusty wee frond punch ... just saying.

Right then ... I have a layout that is now sitting on the bench ... waiting for the paint and ink to dry - you know how it is ... lol.

Wrap up warm people, keep yourselves dry as well ... and for my friends in Canterbury, may there be a little less rocking and rolling going on over the weekend.

Take care.

Later,

M

And now ... wait for it ... I'm going to share with you my creations ... just cos I can and just cos I'm still so excited ... still in shock really ...

Here's my treasure chest ... and truly, what a delightful wee treasure chest it is ... easy peasy to make up.

Originally painted in turquoise Kaiser paint mixed with antique cream Kaiser paint – once dry it was still a little too turquoise-y for me against my paper choice used from the Pink Gelato collection of papers – obviously it takes a while for paint to dry [no kidding] and when it had dried, I was thinking to myself, holey ska-moley ... you've mucked this up big time and then thought to myself, come on Michelle, make it work ... so to tone it down, I over painted with Tim Holtz distress crackle paint and once dry, dabbed with pinecone ink to give it a more distressed look, but still leaving some of the turquoise colour to show through.

I’ve paper curled the edges of my papers on the top and sides to give my treasure chest a shabby look.

I’ve dabbed a little distress crackle paint on the edges of my Kaiser blooms sitting on the top of my treasure chest, added a Kaiser key, painted with distress crackle paint and dabbed over the top of it with pinecone ink as well.

I’ve tucked in a little gauze bandage, intermingled blooms, leaves and punched out leaves as well on the top and used a little Kaiser bling [light blue rhinestones].

And there you have it ... lol ...

And moving along.

Creating with the Velvet Ensemble collection

I’ve used my Making Memories Slice to cut out scrolls and a Martha Stewart punch for the fronds. I’ve used a Tim Holtz die to cut another layered flower and popped it under one of the Buttercream paper blooms and lifted it with foam adhesives to give it a little more height. I’ve wet rolled and inked my paper edges. I’ve pulled apart one of the paper blooms and popped in a brad – I did originally stamp over the top – but oops, I had a wee smudging and opted not to use that ...

Miscellaneous chipboard for the hearts sprayed with Glimmermist Chalkboard Charcoal as well as on the background paper. Glimmer Glaze [oil slick] painted on the punched out butterfly.

I’ve tucked in a little bit of tulle between the layers on the right hand side and popped on a few strands of pearls and voila!

and then ... yep, we have more ...

Looking at the range of papers I used I thought to myself, how about a ticket/voucher holder ... it went along with the theme ... and this is what I came up with.

and a wee close up ...

I’ve cut out a 6x6 piece of paper and scored it in half ... I’ve cut a strip of the reverse side of the paper and adhered it to form a pouch to hold the tickets. I’ve used a selection of stickers and popped them on the top.

I’ve used a circle punch [half circle] each end, cut out a few of the small admission tickets from the paper, pop dotted one of them for dimension, cut and curled a piece of the film strip to make it look like a fake roll of film, popped on a couple of tags, added a little piece of lace and a Kaiser bloom to make an embellishment cluster and added/sprinkled a few Kaiser self adhesive pearls here and there.

And then I put together another layout using the same range of papers ...

Isn't she gorgeous ... wedding photos are of Meg and her sister Amber on Amber's wedding day ... ummmmmmmmmmmm ... Meg ... perhaps we should let Amber know now ... lol ...

Keep an eye out ... this range of papers is fab-u-lous to create with ... go on you know you want to ... those wee tickets, the wee film strips ... awesome!!!

So after creating with the Velvet Ensemble papers I thought that I would have a wee play with the Pink Gelato papers and whip up a layout ...

Had a wee play with this one, a little paint, a few baubles, used a few punches and voila ... adored the photo of my cousin's wee girl ...

So ... there you are ... are you still awake ... you've done well if you've got this far ... imagine how I felt putting it all together ... nuh ... just jesting ... although in saying that ... blogger has been driving me nutty again. It suits itself where it puts pics when you upload a few of them ... and then I've spent like forever dragging them here and there trying to tidy them up ... it's been a mission, let me tell you that ... the joys of technology ... grhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

But on that note ... I'm still stoked ... to everyone else that made the team ... if you are reading my post here ... congratulations ... it's going to be fun ... it's going to be challenging ... but it's going to be fun ... oops, did I just say that already ... you know what I mean.

And to the ladies that didn't make it this time around ... it's never easy getting a no, not this time ... and I for one, am not sure what to say to be honest ... but I guess we all need to remember when we create, whether we create for the memories or to bring out the artistic side of ourselves ... we do it for ourselves and for future generations ... and we shouldn't ever forget that.

And on that note ... I'm so outta here ... we had a really cold start to the day this morning and I'm thinking that it's going to be another cracker frost overnight tonight.

Wrap up warm people

Has anyone seen one of these...

around the countryside???

A work colleague was recently gifted one of these as a birthday present ... and in case you are wondering, it's a scarf ... it has silver bead things on the tassels and then big silver rings, the bauble and the heart dangling from it as well.

This scarf was purchased a few months ago in Christchurch from one of the malls ... one of the stalls that you see in the middle of the malls ... not sure that they are truly called fly-by-nighters, so I hope that no-one finds that term offensive in any way ... but they are there for a while, then they pack up and head elsewhere.

Has anyone seen anything that resembles l scarf like this??? Cos I would love one myself ... let me know.

I'm not normally a silver person to be honest, but I adore this scarf. I've been adding a little colour to the wardrobe in the last few months ... scary ... I know!!!! Instead of black, black and black with that ... I've added a little white, purple and this colour electric blue.

As I said, let me know.

Oh wow … loving this …

One of these came to live at my house last month …

Tim Holtz Non Stick Craft Mat : Tim Holtz Products - Distress Inks and Embellishments

And I am l.o.v.i.n.g. it …

When it comes to purchasing new scrapping goodies, I’m just like anybody and everybody else … I want to see something for my buck … I want to make something for my buck …

But sometimes we need to make an investment in tools and stuff … and wowser, I’m pleased [nope, absolutely bleedin’ stoked] that I made an investment in one of these.

Seriously … paint, inks and mists … wipe off, just like that … and I mean paint, seriously … it wipes off, just like that.

Wish it came off my hands and my clothes, just like that … but it doesn’t.

Just saying.

H.E.L.P.

Okay, I need a little bit of help ... some might say, I need a lot of help, but we won't go there ... lol.

I've had a bad run healthwise the last few months.

Back in April, I did something to my back, the bottom of my back ... it was painful ... I was at home for nearly a week ... the doctor said I had done something or other to the bottom discs. Antiflams, painkillers, take it easy type thing ... well that was it in a nutshell.

I wanted it to go away and quickly ... it lingered.

I get over that ... I go to scrap camp and sprain my ankle - not nice ... I'm still getting over that ... but down to physio once this week ...

Last week I'm crook, with a sore ear, headaches, headcold type thing ... must have picked that up from DS ... he had been crook himself the week before and spent three days in bed ... I was in bed two days and thought to myself, I'm over it ... and went back to work and quite happily spread my germs ... sorry ...

and now ... the biggie ... again ... I've done my back again ... Friday afternoon I felt the tweak and I thought, you are so joking me ... what the hell have I done to deserve this ... I have spent a miserable weekend at home - apart from the hairdresser on Saturday afternoon [and then I was miserable at the hairdresser] ... so here's where I need your help ... I've been googling about sciatica and lower back injuries and yes I know at the end of the day - well tomorrow actually I will be marching back to the doctor - actually, more like bleedin shuffling ... anyone you know and love dearly suffered from excruciating back pain, sciatica problems ... cos this aint nice people ... this is downright painful ... I'm taking antiflams, doing the hot wheat bag thing, doing the hot bath thing ... but I feel like horrible ... and it's so flippin' painful.

Any ideas on a quick fix ... any ideas on making me feel a little bit better ... I'm happy to work in small increments here people ... bigger increments would be good.

But there's gotta be something I can do ...

I don't want people to feel sorry for me ... but OMG if I have ever even slightly doubted anyone in the past when they have said they have had a sore back ... I'm sorry ... I now feel your pain ... well no I don't actually ... figure of speech ... but I can bloody well feel my own pain.

Talk to me.

who knew ...

... now as I write this story down ... do not be sitting in front of your puta reading said story whilst drinking anything liquid-ey [new word] --- you have been warned ...

OMG you so will not believe what just happened to me, in my own home and in the name of creativity ...

Let me share ...

I came across a tutorial recently and thought to myself ... yes ... I'm so gonna make me some of them ... a hint ... I'm making a particular type of flower ... funny that ...

So I've been playing, buying stuff, making stuff, following the instructions and sometimes we try these things and we aren't always successful ... but I'm not giving up - it will happen ... sometimes these things take a little more time and patience.

I can see the idea coming to fruition, I'm getting close and I am determined.

So anyways, today I bought a new product to try and make these fandangled things happen ... I was after some puff paint, I found a cream colour, was after white, but thought to myself, oh well, will give it a go ...

So tonight I'm standing at my bench in the kitchen, thinking to myself, okay, let's do it ... I am going to make this work.

I've done the cutting out, I'm standing there shaking my tube of paint to get the thing flowing ... nothing is happening ... I shake side to side, still nothing is happening, I'm shaking from side to side and squeezing at the same time ... you guessed it, nothing is happening.

By this stage, I'm getting more than a little p'd off people, n.o.t.h.i.n.g. is happening ... so what did I do, I squeezed some more and O.M.G. I squeezed that bleedin hard the hole lid/nozzle thing came off the tube, lock, stock and barrel and I'm still squeezing ... the majority of the contents of this bleedin tube went over ME!!! and what didn't go over me, cos I was in shock that it was going over me ... well it went all down the side of the cupboards [plural] and on the floor, cos I was obviously in shock and flinging my arms around ... anyone would think that I had been holding on to a croc, instead of one wee tube of paint.

This wee tube of paint originally held 30 mls of paint ... well it did, originally ... cos guess what ... it sure doesn't hold that much any more ... I did get down on my hands and knees and scoop some of it back into the tube. I scraped some of it off my clothing, I even scraped/spooned some of it off the front of the cupboards ... but OMG what a flippin' mess and some.

30 mls of paint can make a bleedin' mess ... and now I know, just how much of a mess it can make ...

Who knew that there was one of those special seals to protect the contents ... that needed to be removed before the paint was used ... ummmmmmmm ... not me !!!

These bleedin flowers are so NOT getting the better of me ... they will come together and when they do ... I will share ...

I can laugh about it right now ... but I can assure you, that I was not laughing at the time ...

All in the name of creativity ...

How about another one ...

Hi there and welcome back. Yep, I'm on a roll. I realised that I hadn't shared this layout - another one ... White, green and orang...
