Treasured memories

... yep ... we all have lots of them for many different reasons.

I have had this photo for ages and it's not one that I took. I think my sister gave me this one ... it's a photo taken out at Cosy Nook ...

My hidden journalling reads :

Treasured memories of staying at my grandparents crib at Pahia, known to some as Cosy Nook and to others as Mullet Bay.

Rowing out to the middle of the bay to lift the fish pot.

Freshly caught blue cod; turning the old mincer [and getting it jammed] so that Nana could cook minced paua patties [I didn’t like paua steaks]; crayfish straight from the pot. Truly mouth watering delicacies.

Sunbathing on the rocks.

With love I remember staying with Nana and Grandad – so very special.

Why these colours ... a colour challenge, using sea green, orange, cream and yellow with the ladies over the ditch at Country Papercraft.

The sea green truly is a greener colour than that ... this is almost showing as a bluey colour really. But think the packaging of Prima flowers and you know that it more a greenier colour than blue - lol. And the papers I have used - can't for the life of me think of the name off the top of my head, but they were the ones that came with the owl sitting on the branch on the right-hand side - it's an old range now, but I dug them out from a pizza box buried in one of my cupboards and thought to myself, hello - I can use this range for the challenge. I also sprayed lemon meringue glimmermist and sea foam glimmermist on the background paper - even that looks way better in real life. I've also popped on a piece of paua and a piece of tulle netting that I have scrunched up and stitched and pulled into a circle blob thing - wowser, I've got wonderful ways of telling you things I've used ... pulled into a circle blob thing - crikey - ROFLMAO ... but that's actually what I did!!!

Right then, I was looking for my recipe cards that I put together for the slow cooker recipe swap with the ladies at Scrappin' Patch - do you think I can find them now ... after having had a clean up, then having a totally chaotic mess and a bit of a throw out, quick tidy and now I'm back to a disaster zone ... no idea where they are ... me thinks that I might be putting another set together tomorrow night ... and then ya know what will happen ... I will find them again ... somewhere ... that Murphy fella has a lot to answer for.

Outta here ... keep warm and dry.

Another homework assignment

done and dusted and I really, really, really like this one ... some of my favourite photos of N.

It all came together just like that really.

Maths homework assignment in a nutshell, was all about the number '3' ... three of this and three of that and all sorts of other things divisble by that wee number '3' ... I kid you not ... we had to work our way through our 3 x timetables ...

you know ...
1x3 = 3
2x3 = 6
3x3 = 9

Not going to bore you with my list, but there is quite a list going on - from stitching to beads to brads and some more stitching, from using three different stamps - two different stamps on two of the arrows and then using alphas ... from using my Fiskars circle cutter and then cutting 3 cm width into the curve, let me tell you there was some thinking going on putting this layout toether and I like the finished result.

So you get points based on working your way through the 3 x timetables and you aren't allowed to miss a beat. And by that I mean if you are doing 8x3 = 24 you use 24 of something, then you can't skip a couple and then decide to jump to 11x3 = 33 of something or other, if that makes sense.

Papers had to be cut somehow or another with the number '3' in mind ... lol.

Journalling had to also be done with the '3' thing going on ... think however many words and then wait for it ... the number of letters in total had to be divisible by that wee number '3'.

Definitely had you thinking outside the norm.

It was a whole lot of fun that's for real and for the rest of this weekend I kept doing things in 3's - lol.

Points wise there is no way that I am up there or anywhere near the lead for that matter and I'm okay with that. I'm not a scrapper that can keep adding stuff and I say that nicely, truly - I can't do it, just to build up the points and that's all there is to it really.

I think we still have one more homework assignment to do this week, no idea of the nature of the subject - but I'm sure that time will tell.

So overall it's been a whole lot of fun, I've scrapped outside my comfort zone numerous times and on the whole, I'm more than happy with everything that I have created.

Right then, better whip out to the kitchen and get something organised for my lunch tomorrow.

Enjoy your week everyone, keep warm and dry.

Time to share

my homework assignment with the girls over the ditch at Country Papercraft.

Week 10 has seen us recycling, we had to use at least 50% scrapping supplies, colour theme of brown, green and blue and for 15 bonus points use one of the CPC blog sketches ... so yep ... covered all of them ...

This week was definitely going to be the week to sort out everyone points-wise and how were they going to do that ... for every recycled product you used you earned yourself 5 points.

I'm probably going to bore you all silly ... cos here's my list ...

Scrapping supplies : BG Periphery papers, rub-ons, staples, inking, painting, stamping, brad, buttons, flower, leaves, hand journaling, computer journaling, quote, layering, distressing, sewing, tearing, metal thing and photo - used paint, pinecone ink and distressing inks.

Now my recycled bits and bobs – are you ready ... foil inner from coffee tin, light blue strip from newspaper bundles, green wire [off flower], piece ripped from dictionary on a recycled clothing tag used as a journaling spot under photo, blue cord stripped down and unravelled, title stamped on empty oven bags box cut up and inked, envelope corner, postage stamp of Stewart Island and photo was taken over there, scrunched cellophane depicting sea, paua shell from Christmas cake decoration, till receipt showing printed photos, green hessian mesh – stitches, mesh from onion bag stamped in distressed ink, black plastic strip from vegetable bag, white strip from top of flour bag, cotton used for handstitching from top of potato bag [I kid you not], pizza box lid used as base of layout, bubblewrap used for painting dots, clothes tag recycled on left cluster, thick twine, barcode, piece of white fabric that pins were attached to, peg off a card, another piece of corrugated cardboard with the top lifted off from a piece of banana box, piece from an egg carton on top RHS, used beads glued on mesh to represent pebbles/sand, star paper clip this was off another card, quote printed off on the other end of my inking backing paper and I’ve used one of the sketches from the CPC blog.

And I didn’t use some other bits and bobs that were in my container – felt that I had done my layout justice if that makes sense without it being too cluttered.

So there you have it ... totally amazing what you can use on a layout that has been recycled ...

I've been blown away by everyone's creativity ... all the girls have definitely rocked their industrial arts homework assignment this week.

and OMG ... it's maths homework this week ... can only hope that I'm not cubing, x-ing or y-ing anything ... it's been a while okay???!!!

On that note, keep yourselves warm and dry - we've had a really shitty weekend weather-wise here in the deep south. A few hail storms today. We won't talk too much about the disgusting weather of yesterday, but for you ladies in the area you will know what I mean and our DS had to brave the elements and play Saturday afternoon rugby ... not impressed.

And by the looks of it, this afternoon is going to be a brilliant afternoon for being a little creative.

P.S. and Mother Nature moved the earth for us big time this week ... whoa ... it was not nice! major understatement and bloody scary and trust me on this one, I could be a whole lot more honest than that language wise - you had to experience it to believe just how much the earth moved ... and nope, don't want to do that again any time soon.

Yep, it's me ... again ...

I thought to myself, will do a little bit of housework ...

The fridge is now sparkling clean - truly, rubbish is done ... still have to do something with that bleedin' lux - but I will get there - ROFLMAO ...

But I decided I wanted to be a little more creative. I remember reading on Scrapbook Outlet's forum about a challenge ...

10 minutes to choose photo[s]
10 minutes to select supplies
30 minutes to complete your layout

Well trust me on this one ... this took way less than that ... photos were on my desk, supplies; well I had been using the same for my mini album ... so I just went for it.

I recall seeing a sketch somewhere lately - no idea where - well I should say, I recall a sketch somewhere, rather vaguely ... cos I have no idea if this resembles it or not ... I remember something on the top left hand side and the majority of the rest of the layout down towards the bottom ...

So this is what I came up with ...

Right then ... I promise to now go and run the lux around the bottom of the house ...

Another homework assignment

done and dusted.

This week, well last week - you know what I mean - our geography assignment was up ... we had to put together a mini album and include gazzillions of things - well it sure felt like it.

On the list :

clock
flowers
ribbon
map paper
metal embellishments
pocket
journal block
mask
chipboard
paint

Ta da ...

All covered.

What did I use ...

Clock transparency
Lace fabric flowers - doubled up and joined on the front cover
Ribbon - front cover
Map paper - used on a pocket
Metal embellishments - chain on the front cover, licence plate on the front cover and a staple somewhere or other throughout the album
Pocket - well yep, covered, I hand made three of them
Journal block - used circles and half circles throughout the album
Mask - yep - not happy with it though - I used paint and masked the journalling lines on one of the pockets - stopped there, cos I didn't like the smudging ... lol
Chipboard - yep, covered - front and back covers, arrow, MR oval on the front - you know it stands for Maya Road ... but it also stands for M & R or R & M, depends who is first ... ROFLMAO
Paint ... yep - a whole lot of that going on; blue and silver

I've also used a whole lot of Prima papers from a 6x6 pad and a little bit of Teresa Collins as well and it's all been put together using a 7Gypsies rubberband album ...

And the reason for the licence plate on the front - secret destination ... cos it's secret ... still undecided ... not sure yet where it will be ... but a cruise somewhere next year ... it might be the Greek Islands yet ... time will tell ... those Lotto numbers had better hurry up and come out of the barrel for me - lol.

On that note. Must go. This little album has taken hours to complete today and it's now time that I had a date with the bottle of Jiff ... yep, some housework has to be done, the washing has to be folded, the lux has to have an outing type thing and as you know ... it doesn't just happen by itself!!!

Keep warm everyone.
