Smelly ...

... but nice smelly - lol!

Honest.

A girl ... well this girl, just loves her smellies, nice smellies of course.

Better still, a girl, this girl, loves her smellies even more when they are duty free.
Just saying.

I'm not coping ...

nope ... I'm not coping with the drop in temperature !!!

It's more than a little cruel really.

To go from something like 25 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius ...

To this ...

It was still minus 3 degrees Celsius at 1.00 pm yesterday ...
Nope ... not coping!

Yep - another layout

Love the way this one came together. Just goes to show you that you don't need to use the Capella range for just feminine layouts and wedding layouts.

You can still do a masculine layout using the range.

This really is a special moment in time ... this photo was taken the day that my Dad celebrated and renewed his wedding vows to mark 50 years of married life.

A truly awesome achievement ...

on this layout I've used cardstock [from the kit] and used my Tim Holtz alterations dies ... OMG I love these alterations dies - big time!!!!

Right then, moving along.

Flowers ...

A girl can never have too many flowers ... honest ... whether they be Prima, Prima or more Prima ... lol.

But every now and again you just feel like making something, something special for your layout or cards, or perhaps just cos you can ... and one of our challenges this month with the girls over the ditch at Country Papercraft was to make handmade embellishments ... namely flowers.

These flowers are made out of papers from the BG Capella range - 6x6 paper pad.

I've grabbed a couple of round punches, I've inked, torn, distressed, rolled and inked some more. I've used pop dot foam adhesive to help with the layering.

I've also used some old lace that my scrapping buddy across the ditch sent me [thank you Judy] - totally gorgeous lace and then I've added a little Prima bling and/or button.

I've also used a Tim Holtz tag and inked the edge and added Diamond Dust to the edge as well - oops looks like that close up is missing.

In the pic above you can also see another wee flower ... this is a handmade rolled rose, sprayed with glimmermist.

There are many tutorials showing how to make flowers ... find one you like and go with it. Be a little creative!!!

So there you have it.

Another one from the newsletter

... that went out at the start of the month.

Using the contents of the monthly kit ... I've handmade the wee envelope and I will get Mum to journal some of her memories and tuck it away in the envelope for safe keeping.

I've also handmade the wee paper roses and popped a pearl in the top as well ... the scrolls came in the kit and are absolutely gorgeous and then I threw in a little handsewing on this one ... just cos !!!

I guess you could call it ... an elegant layout.

Should be another layout to share using the kit contents when the mid month newsletter comes out.

A little bit posh ...

It's not too often that I go shopping in this shop ... but I did recently.

The name says it all really ...

I would far prefer to spend my money on scrapping supplies or at the jeweller's ... lol.

I love a little Basic Grey

and most of you know that ... lol.

So when the Capella range put in an appearance as the June monthly kit with the team at Country Papercraft, I thought to myself ... yes ... punching the air and doing the happy dance.

So I played with this layout ... and I mean I truly did play ... I cut out a shuttered window and I've inked and inked and inked some more ... I'm sure there is something like 3 or 4 different inks used on those shutters.

I also played with my scissors big time with this layout, throw in a little punching, distressing and inking, a couple of Prima flowers, a little lace - underneath the Prima flowers ... and then I think was done.

This photo is a photo of Mum and Dad on their wedding day ... DH's parents ... they would have have been married 60 years this September ...

On that note.

Scottie Crafts ...

Woo hoo, I had a pizza box land on my door step on last week from Scottie Crafts and wow, what an amazing array of goodies.

I’ve got the new Cuttlebug embossing folder ‘Scrollwork’ to play with and it just had to come out of its packet ... Just. About. Right. Away.

On the base of my layout you can see Orange Bazzill cardstock, inked around the edge. I’ve cut out a square section from the middle and put it aside to use elsewhere on my layout and then I’ve used Bo Bunny double sided paper on top of the orange and inked black around the edges. I’ve grabbed another piece of cut-off Bo Bunny paper and flipped it and put it through the Cuttlebug using my new embossing folder. Sometimes when you use an embossing folder, totally depending on the thickness of the cardstock or paper you use, it may lift some of the colour and I have absolutely no problem when it decides to do that, it gives another effect. In this case though, I grabbed a piece of sandpaper and sanded gently along the edge and a little more into the scroll work and then inked lightly over the top of it.

I’ve cut away a corner from one of the LYB papers, which was also double sided, I’ve water edged and curled, distressed and then inked the rolled back edge to add another layer and dimension to my layout.

I’ve used a piece of chipboard as the template for my leaves – note that this is the reverse side of the Bo Bunny paper – one side is dotted and the other side a plain green [truly, there is nothing plain about it ... it’s a gorgeous rich emerald colour] ... I’ve used my paper piercer and water pen to gently roll the edges of the leaves back and then I’ve inked them – again in black.

I’ve used a round circle punch to make the handmade flower embellishment, two different sized punches for the layering. I’ve then distressed, ripped and inked the edges and threaded some flower stamens through the middle.

A piece of lace and a couple of staples and I’ve added some MLS alphas ... the colour was quite simply perfect.

And there you have it. I think that my niece and my sister are going to absolutely adore this layout.

The girls at Scottie Crafts have all the scrapping goodies on hand and will be able to point you in the right direction.

and a little close up ...

Happy creating.

You may have seen this ...

if you subscribe to the Country Papercraft newsletter.

Our stash challenge this month was to use Cosmo Cricket and I've used the Get Happy range.

Throw in a little glimmermist mist, just cos I can - I've used a lime and denim blue, a little distressing and inking, a few BG buttons and BG fibres and voila.

Quite like the way that this one turned out ... love this photo of N from a few years ago now.

Just sharing.

Time to share a little creativity ...

One of our challenges this month with the girls from Country Papercraft was to scrap a budget layout [under $5 and price it out].

I've used a sheet of Bazzill - $1.10.
Patterned Paper - Pink Paislee 6x6 pad - $9.95/30 sheets x 2 = $0.66.
Pink Paislee borderline stickers $5.95/5 and I used 1/2 strip = $0.60.
Bella Chipz - $6.50/132 pieces = $0.05 each - title = $0.15.
Allowed $1 for Prima flowers, cos they came in a big bucket - 650 flowers or thereabouts.
Beads from a bracelet which cost $2.50 for 10 strands when I pulled it apart and I used 2 strands - $0.50 and Carolee's mini alphas and 3 brads [price unknown].

Add paint, ink, packaging [free products] and it definitely comes in under $5 and then I've also used the quote for this layout as well by Dr Seuss.

It's amazing really when you go to cost out a layout what it actually costs ... sometimes though, I just would not want to go there!!!!! Those dollar signs would be ticking over big time ... but that's okay ...

And yet when you do a true budget layout ... it just goes to show you ... that you can truly scrap on a budget.

Right then, till next time.

Hi there and welcome back. Yep, I'm on a roll. I realised that I hadn't shared this layout - another one ... White, green and orang...
