Kindergarten!

Today is Kaylee's first day of Kindergarten! Where has the time gone? I can't believe she's in school now! (I saw this on pinterest- have them write their name on the first day every year and see how it changes.)

Kaylee was excited to start school, but also a little nervous. This school is a lot bigger than her preschool!

Her new class room.

I have mixed emotions about Kaylee being in school. I am glad to get on a better routine (and have a little more kid free time.) I'm happy I don't have to worry about entertaining her and hearing "I have nothing to do" everyday, but at the same time I'm sad to not have her home with her sister. They are best  friends right now and I'm afraid that will change. Kaylee is going to grow up a lot faster now.

I hope she makes friends and doesn't get lost in that big school. I hope he loves school and makes good choices even if her friends don't (did I teach her well enough?)  I hope she doesn't lose too much innocence. She is a smart girl and a really good girl so I shouldn't worry, but that's what moms do right? I have to admit I got a little teary eyed driving away from the school without her.

8 Months

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

I've been a terrible blogger lately but lets play catch up...
I organized a play group Olympics a few weeks ago.

I think they are future gymnasts.

We also had target shooting, relay races, shot put, and discus.

Everyone got a gold medal and an Olympic torch (popcorn in an ice cream cone.)

Our land lord finally sent someone to cut down the big dead tree in our back yard. I'm pretty sure they were the cheapest labor she could find. It's been 2 weeks since they first cut it down and they still aren't done.

It looks strange without the tree. Once they finish cleaning up, and once it's not so hot, and when we don't have to worry about getting West Nile virus (there's  a lot of it here right now) from mosquitoes we'll have a nice big space to play in.

We've been trying to beat the heat by swimming at our friends pool. Thank goodness we have friends in apartments that let us swim!

Doesn't Brooke make those goggles look good?

Of course I can't post without putting in a few pictures of Austin. He has his 2 bottom teeth now.

He is also getting around pretty well now. He can inch worm his way across the room and he can go pretty fast if he wants to. I don't blame him for not crawling on hands and knees- it hurts on the hardwood floor.

This is his favorite pose lately. He puts his head down and just stays there for a while. Maybe he's doing yoga?
