May Happenings

Danielle and I got a little date night away and she was super excited to get some ice cream.
I got this special note from Lexi on Mother's day and it totally made me tear up.  It reads, "The flowers we gave you, you thought they where so sweet. Mothers Day is a special day to give you candy that says I love you but the special thing about Mother's day that I love my Mom."

Lexi's school did Muffins with Mom.  It was a crazy morning but she was so excited that we could eat breakfast at her school.

One of a millions reasons I love where I live. I love the church and summertime is amazing around here with sunsets.
Sometimes I never know what I will find when I check on my kiddos while sleeping.
For Memorial day we ate dinner Sat and Sunday night with Grandma and Grandpa at their campground which was only a few minutes from our house.  We had lots of yummy food and lots of fun being outside. Lexi became our go to marshmallow roaster.

As soon as we got in the car Danielle asked, "Mom can I go to sleep because I am very tired?" I think even if I would of said no it wouldn't have mattered.

Last night our whole family did our first 5K together called the Glow Run, which is a fundraiser for cancer.  100% of the proceeds go to cancer plus it is just fun.  I walked in honor of Dad, Grandma Horsley, Grandpa Horsley and Gi-Gi who all battled cancer in their lives. The run started at 9pm and we got all decked out in glow in the dark stuff.  Johnny, Lexi and her best bud Ella ran a lot of it.  I pushed Samantha and Danielle in the stroller and my best bud, Betsy walked it with me.  The only running I did was when the sprinklers went on us at the end and I was trying not to get Samantha soaked.

These balloons where a hit if you can't tell.

Samantha's blessing

Month three went by even faster then the first 2.  Little Samantha has gotten a lot more aware of things around her and has become a smiler! She will smile at anyone that is willing to talk to her.

She has even already nailed the selfie with me.  She loves to look at herself in my phone but i am lucky if I get a smile that way.
She started sleeping through the night a little after two months.  She likes sleeps best when swaddled but she usually manages to get those arms out.

For her blessing we had Aunt Mary, Grandma Cindy and Grandma Horsley come to stay with us.  There was a lot of baby hogging going on. (surprisingly mostly by Grandma Horsley)

They enjoyed a couple of naps together. :)
We had a nice dinner with the family and some close friends.  Then we had some more close friends and families come for dessert to celebrate.  It was an amazing day.  Johnny's blessing was beautiful.  I wish I could remember more but I do remember he blessed her with keeping close to the Lord and being a great example to everyone around her.
 Four generation picture.

She was pretty upset because I woke her up from a nap to get ready for her special day. So this is how she felt about her outfit.
Love fills my heart when I see this picture!
Can you tell what is going on in this picture?????
Her sisters continue to adore her and fight all of the time of getting to talk to her.

My little chunky monkey!  I love that her rolls are filling in nicely

This picture shows how much she loves Lexi! It has been such a blessing that Samantha loves Lexi because Lexi finds joy in her baby sister, who I thought she would have no interest in because she never really has loved babies. I love their little bond that is already forming.

A decade together

Today is our 9th Anniversary but we have been together for more then 10 yrs now.  It is amazing how quickly life has passed by and the amazing changes we have made together. We have hard some sad times with the lose of babies and other loved ones but we have had even more wonderful times. I am over the moon in love with this man and couldn't ask for anyone better.

Some of my favorite things about us are

  • We can still be silly.  He attempts to tackle me even though he knows I hate it, and in return I tickle him because that is the only way to win the fight.
  • We communicate pretty well.  We are not prefect and are still learning but for the most part we make sure we understand each other
  • We disagree sometimes, but fight not so much.  I think I can count on one hand our fights and they were mostly because of lack of communication
  • We support each other in dreams, parenting and church callings.
  • We make time for us. It is difficult many times but sometimes it is just a little chat at the end of the day but we make time for it.
  • We push each other in making weaknesses into strengths
  • We make super cute kids!
  • We have never not slept in the same bed due to disagreements
  • We can laugh together over dumb things.
  • We tolerate each other's passions.  For example I tolerate his sports on the tv, while he tolerates my craft stuff everywhere at times.
I sure love this man of mine and I am looking forward to the rest of ours lives and eternity together!

Lexi's 7!!!

I don't know about anyone else but I have been feeling like there are way too many toys at our house lately so I came up with an amazing plan for the birthday girl this year.  Instead of us buying her gifts, Johnny and I would just take her to do something fun for a couple of hours. So Lexi and I got our nails done and then we had lunch at Wing Stop of course.  It was so fun to see my not so little girl get all pampered. She was so funny because she had this look of "I want to smile but I am being shy." Also my favorite thing was she saw a little Buddha shrine thing and said this place was like from the country Mulan is from.  And then later I was laughing inside watching her face as she was trying to figure out what the ladies were saying, but it sure wasn't English.  I too benefitted from our special day but it meant more to me then just getting our toes done.  It was taking the time to show our daughter how very special she is to us.  It was a fun day and we will have for sure do this again.

And of course we had a friend party.  For my own sanity this year we made it simple simple simple. We had pizza, dancing on the wii, twister, presents, movie, cake, and treats.

I love this girl so so so very much! While they were watching the movie she came and snuggled a little with me.  Now that NEVER happens let alone when she has friends over.  Lexi you are one amazing 7 yr old and we are so lucky to have you in our family.

Things Lexi is up to lately:

  • She is in first grade and it rocking it in reading.  In march her teacher told me that she is already on a 2nd grade reading level and that is as high as she can test at right now. She is bringing home chapter books and yesterday she scored 100% on her reading test.
  • She loves playing soccer of course
  • She loves to sing and dance but I am not aloud to watch
  • Danielle and her love to play fashion show with all their stuffed animals, and they like to doll them up with hair clips and accessories
  • She is excited to be able to ride her bike to school next year
  • She loves to go swimming and rock climbing
  • She is a great helper with making Samantha smile when I need to do something for a few minutes or when I am trying to take her pictures.
  • Lexi has really come out of her shell this year.  She talks to new people easier, she even teases her friend's dads.  I love that her confidence continues to bloom all the time.
  • She loves the color turquoise
  • she is getting a little better about her clothes.  Still refuses to wear jeans or any pants that even resemble jeans in any way
  • Wanted to get high heals for her Easter dress, so we got some wedges.
  • Johnny and I can't ever win playing memory with her.
