Trunk or Treat

Lexi just loves dogs and she always barks back at them. So I thought she would like being a doggie for Halloween.
I couldn't get the hood to stay on so no one really could tell what she was. She did well walking to all the trunks and not being afraid. But it took her awhile to figure out what was going into her pumpkin. I put a cookie in it later when we were done and she found that and before I knew it, all gone. What a good mother I am for feeding her a cookie for dinner.

Tag #2

5 weird things about me, I think Johnny could do this better than I can but I will give it a shot

1. I have really bad circulation so my feet are always freezing. So I take a lot of showers in the winter or I just give me feet a bath in the bathroom sink. No worries I do it only in my sink and clean it after.

2.I am addicted to eBay. I love bidding on things and getting a good deal. The other day I got some cartridges for my printer, i know finally right? I got 2 blacks and 1 color for only $25 bucks! They work great too!

3. As you can see I love to share my great finds to others. I show Johnny what I get when I am shopping whether clothes or food and I just have to let him know how much money I saved him. I know he doesn't care but I am proud of myself!

4. I like many others hate their hair. I always go to the salon, ask for something new, and really it always is the same. I like it long enough so I can put it up, but short enough that it doesn't take 30 minutes to blow dry. Someday I will be brave and do something radical, but today just isn't it.

5. I don't think that in our marriage that I have ever cooked the same thing more than 10 times. I just love trying new recipes. I always like the dessert ones but I have to have an excuse to make them, that is why I love the holidays.

Now for the 5 victims: Brooke, TyLeen, Lisa, Effie, and Mary Beth

Craving vs Eating Pumpkins

So for family home evening this week we of course carved those beautiful pumpkins that we got.
This is a pretty dorky picture but I wanted to get a picture of this hairy beast of mine. And you better believe that I wouldn't let him grow it out like that, but it is for Halloween and it will soon be gone the day after on wife orders.

Here is Lexi digging in but wait just a minute... this stuff is edible. We couldn't get her to stop eating it. She first ate the seed and didn't really enjoy that so much but the tops...well those were too good not to sink the teeth into.

And here is the finished product. I think anyone could tell that Johnny's is the black diamond symbol on the left, Lexi's is in the middle and mine is the one on the right. I think we did much better than last year!

So what are we going to be for Halloween that Johnny needs that long beard you ask? Well here is a little hint.

18 months

My little girl is 18 months. And yesterday was her first official day in nursery. Yeah for Mommy! I just had to get a picture of her first day! (she put the necklace on herself and it never seems to amaze me how she always picks the one that matches her outfit! Watch out fashion world)

She did so well on her first day. Her best friend, Ella is in nursery too. I literaly walked her in and she took off, so I just walked out the door. When I went to picked her up, I couldn't get her to leave. I even took her to the Bishop's office to get some gummie bears which she devoured in less than 10 seconds.

When Lexi was 15 months I made a list of all the words that she could say. So at 18 months I added to the list and I am so amazed to see that she has more than doubled her list. Everyday she seems to get a new word. These are some of her new ones that are my favorites: bubble, pumpkin, purple, grandma, grandpa, and Jesus.

Now this picture does not do it justice. First of all, I have to say that we go to church from 2:30-5:30, which means no nap til after church. We have to wake her up after about an hour so she can eat dinner and go to bed at a decent time. Needless to say she is not a one hour nap girl. So to make her happier we usually let her watch her favorite show, Pooh Bear, and I usually have to hold her til she is more awake. So I was cuddling with her and I put my head on her shoulder and she wrapped her little arms around my neck and held me. I thought my head would be too heavy for her but she held me for a long time. This little girl made me feel so loved. I hope that she will continue to share this love for the rest of her life.

Our little climber

So can you tell what she sees her daddy doing?

So normally when we go to get into the car it is almost a fight to tell her we are not getting in the stroller and going to the park. Now instead she likes to go over to daddy's wall and "climb" like daddy does. I couldn't get the video to download but as she reaches for a hold she grunts just like her father. Priceless

So I thought of some more random things about Lexi that I wanted to remember:
  1. In the shower she puts her hand unto the spout to my shampoo bottle, without getting anything out, and then either rubs her belly or she cleans my legs for me.
  2. Every night she goes to bed with a Care Bear and when she wakes up she wants to carry it around for awhile.
  3. When she is done eating she will slouch in her chair which drives me crazy!
  4. She loves to look at pictures that I have of my family that live far away and we have to name them all.
  5. She will close the door for me and then say "thank-you"

My Little Miss

I decided since I am not good at journaling I would use this awesome tool to remember some things about Lexi that I love so that I can remember them. So I guess this is more for me but I hope you all enjoy it too.

  1. Lexi is all girl. She loves: princesses, necklaces, purses, shoes, dolls, care bears, and all the girly type stuff

  2. She always walks on her tippy toes

  3. When she runs her legs remind me of propellers on a boat.

  4. She will play in her bed for a long time after bed or nap, so quietly that I don't hear her. This morning at 4:30 am I woke up to a little voice saying "uh oh" in her bed. She never cried she just played a little and went back to sleep.

  5. She knows when she is in trouble and quickly stops what she is doing, says "uh oh" and runs away.

  6. She loves playing outside with her Daddy. She of course loves the park and the favorite is the slide.

  7. She is really good at doing puzzles. I was just some amazed the first time I gave her one to do. I showed her how to do it once and that was it. Nowadays you are more likely to find the puzzle pieces in a purse or in a stroller instead of in the puzzle
  8. You can never get just one kiss. She will gives me one then runs to Johnny and gives him one and then back a forth a few times.
  9. She loves the bath and any type of water. If you ask her if she wants a bath she says "bath" and goes running into the bathroom, it sure makes my life easier

  10. She runs away while laughing when I try and change her, cute...but not always.

  11. She gets mad fast when she can't do something...sounds quite familiar

  12. She is compassionate to others. If someone is crying she starts too. My favorite story is when she watches her favorite show, if someone falls down she will start crying. I am not sure if she thinks it is happening to her or not but I makes me laugh pretty hard.

  13. She has tons of facial expressions, the pout, courtesy smile, the lip, and a really serious look.

  14. She is a really good eater. She loves just about anything that you put on her plate.

  15. When you laugh no matter if at the tv or something else, she joins in with her courtesy laugh.

  16. She doesn't like being touched especially if someone tries to grab her hand. I have just barely have gotten her to hold my hand when we are walking somewhere.

  17. If you ask her what she is doing is says "good"

  18. Whenever I am cooking she will come in the kitchen and say"hot hot" um wonder where she got that one?

Those are just a few things I enjoy about my Little Miss. She makes me laugh everyday and I am just so amazed of all that she learns. I have been blessed with such a wonderful gift!

Fall Hayride

On Saturday our family enjoyed a nice cold hayride to a pumpkin patch. On our journey we enjoyed some music, hot cocoa and the nice cold cold breeze. Lucky for us we had some friends who went on the hayride before us and they lent us their blankets. Thanks Shannon and TyLeen! I thought to myself oh it is cold outside today I should wear my hair down....what a mistake that was, I am still trying to get all the tangles out! Really there is no point to wearing your hair down here it is just too windy!

We went with the Kemps, Ella, Betsy and Dave. This is a picture of us after our nice cup of hot cocoa and out pumpkins picked out. Lexi was so serious when we were riding along, we just had to take her picture.
Lexi kept trying to pick up all the pumpkins but they were just too heavy for her. This beauty is my pumpkin that I will be craving in a few weeks.
Save the best for last. I just love this picture. There was some flowers more like flower weeds and Lexi of course loves to pick flowers. I would have some nice flowers out front of my house but she keeps picking all the good ones. Anyhow I just love the colors and the flowers she has. I am going to make it black and white and put it in my house somewhere!
We had a great time and we will be much more prepared next year! Like Betsy said at least it didn't rain on us!

Open Gym

So around the Tri-Cities there is a lot of gymnastic places that have open gyms on certain days and times. My good friend Betsy found this one and it was free for the first visit. So we decided to take the girls and try it out...why not it is free right? I was so surprised when I walked in of all the great things that they had for the kids. They had tons of toys, trampolines, balance beams, bars, a foam pit, rock wall and even a big bounce house. There was tons of people but there was enough stuff that it wasn't even a problem.
This is Lexi's best friend Ella. They play so well together and just love seeing each other. If Lexi is being cranky I will ask her if she wants to play with Ella and she gets all happy. It is funny!
They had fun on the trampoline together but the favorite thing for Lexi was one of those stand alone slides. That girl can not get enough of slides.
This balance beam just brought back so many memories of being in gymnastics when I was little. Maybe in a year or so I will enroll Lexi but for now I think we will stick to these open gym days.

Do as I'm doing

Um... so can you tell what mommy does a lot? She can finally climb up on this chair and she thought she was hot stuff scrapbooking like mommy.

So this is a picture of my new furniture piece! I love it so much and I finally found some baskets for it. I am so excited because now I can actually have my scrapbooks out for others to enjoy. Lexi especially loves pulling them off and looking at herself and saying "Xei, Xei" every once in awhile she will throw in a Da-Da but Momma is a rarity.

This picture isn't great but the LOVE pictures I made. I was so proud of myself and how cute they turned out. This was my first craft all by myself! I think I am addicted to crafts now, so if anyone has an inexpensive craft idea please send it my way.
