Blog Crush!

So admit it, You have a "Blog Crush?" I do!! And probably more than one too! Well, over the weekend, I actually got to meet one of my "blog crushes" if you will. I walked right up to her and told her my name and that I have been a "blog lurker" for quite sometime! Yeah, guess I am kind of BOLD like that. It was like meeting someone famous. She had her adorable girls with her too! I felt like I knew her kids cause I have read her blog for so long!!!
Andrea- It was so exciting to meet you in person! You are super fab and I am so excited for your family's new adventure! Take care and I will now be following not as a "lurker" anymore!

Lil'G's "Sloppy Joe" Guitar

This Lil'G man is my rock star!!! He loves music, making music so much and his dad loves him so much that he made Lil'G his own electric guitar, Lil'G size!!! Where did the name "Sloppy Joe" come from you ask? Lil'G loves the band Green Day and the lead singer is named- Billy Joe, thus Lil'G's guitar is made after Billy Joe's. But Lil'G couldn't say the name right and it came out "Sloppy Joe!"

Lil'G is in heaven to say the least! His dad rocks at what he does too! What Brandon makes with his hands always amazes me!!!
So if you are in the mood for a little jam session, you know where to come!

My Gluten Free Girl!

My Miss P got diagnosed with Celiac Disease this past summer. It all came about from a blood test. She really didn't have any symptoms and was otherwise healthy! Very interesting enough was that 2 years prior when Miss P had blood work done, her celiac numbers were totally fine. This time around they were off the charts, so to speak. And not only did she have to get a ton of blood work done, after we found out her numbers were high for celiac, Miss P had to go in and get an upper g.i. done to get samples of her small intestine for the 100% diagnosis. This is a picture of Miss P on the day of her procedure at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. We love that place!! (Miss P is a pro since she had already had 2 outpatient procedures done there, she knew the routine.) Sure enough when the Dr came out to tell me what she saw, she said I could see "cobblestone" like on the inside walls of her small intestine, which is the celiac, it's suppose to look more like fiberous finger-like villi, which she had none of. Of course, the Dr said to wait for the test results to come back just for the 100% diagnosis. Yep, Miss P has Celiac Disease. The Gluten Free diet begins!!

She has been quite the trooper about it all and even told me she was hoping to have celiac disease. Funny girl!! Yes, the whole family had to be tested, we were all negative, but will be tested every few years for it. Miss P has restrictions on everything in her life now- to toiletries to food. I will have to be looking into the make-up products she uses when she gets older too!! She already uses Gluten-Free chapstick, toothpaste, and shampoo!

Here is a sampling of the food Miss P has. She has her own cupboard in the kitchen with all her Gluten Free foods. Her school teacher has been great to work with in helping to keep extra Gluten Free snacks we give her in case there is a surprise treat in class. Miss P has to take a home lunch daily since the school does not provide Gluten Free lunches, yet, so who knows in a few short years that could all change!

This has been a real eye opener for the whole family. We have never had to deal with any allergies, besides seasonal ones, so this was kind of new for us. Miss P and I met with her dietician for like 3 hours to learn all about Gluten Free living. I have now had to become a "label reader", which I thought I never would be.
Miss P- you never cease to amaze me!!! I am so proud if you taking on this new challenge in your life and taking it in stride! You are an example to us all!
Keep it up girly! I love you!
