9.30.11 art class

another sucsessful day at art class.
too bad next week is the last class. the reality it we can do all this at home.
so hopefully she will keep creating.
not sure why this one turned out blurry.
just glitter paint...and i did the red thing on the left trying to get the red to work.

she also played with shaving cream but was obsessed with painting.

grounded

this little stinker has refused a nap 3 days in a row.
first day i was annoyed! i had things to do.
but i sat there feet from her, reading my stack of magazines.
the second day was worse, i was mad.
i even yelled and spanked....something i told myself i won't do
today i didn't yell or spank...today was a new day
i just checked on her about every 15 minutes.
i instructed her, if she got out of bed
tried on shoes, emptied her drawers or closet,
read books or came out of her room...she would be in trouble.
after 2 hours and the start of emptying her closet
i gave her a time out and grounded her
from the three things she loves
movies, coloring and juice.....
i think it's a little harsh, but i want her to know i mean business.
none of this, me no sleepy, me no wanna nap...i watch movies business!
(translation: i'm not sleepy, i don't want to take a nap...i want to watch a movie)
in other news...she drew her first smiley face today!
i seriously can not wait until she starts drawing stick figures.
we have also been working on lines. which she fails miserably most of time.
but yesterday, she kind of sort of made alligator teeth.
oh sad, i just noticed i accidentally covered up her 'name' with that arrow
which by the way she spells it e, i, h, p, s....every single time.

fairytale town

on friday while emi was watching sesame street
i overheard they were going to have free admission
to this cute little place called fairytale town.
i thought, hey! we should go, it might be a mad house
but then we can at least see if it's worth paying to go there
when it isn't free admission.
little did i know it only cost $4 for regular admission.

so on saturday morning we got ready
emi insisted on finding her camera since i was getting my ready to go

she was even nice enough to take a picture of me :)
this is the actual entrance, parents have to duck to get in.
as you can see the lady below walking in with her kids.
 cute miss emi
emi super excited to enter into the king's castle
emi and eddie sitting in the royal seats.
they had this neat pirate ship.
emi was able to climb up mother goose
wrong outfit! a skirt and sandals weren't the best.
emi had fun poking her head through each wizard of oz character.
i can't get over how tall she is getting.
a whole yard tall! no wonder her blanket is too short for her.
she was able to color a cool bookmark.
she colored for a good ten minutes.
she's very meticulous when it comes to markers.
they have to be all lined up. she opens it, puts the lid on the other side.
closes it, and puts it away before she moves onto another color.
 she enjoyed peter pan's playground.
mental note, no skirts when playing on a playground.
she is ready for disneyland, putting her hands in the air.
she loved this little maze.

i think it was her favorite thing.
even over the farm animals.
as we were exiting the library had set up a table to sale books.
the table outside fairytale town were selling $1 a book!
i think it was some sort of book festival
because the day before our library had a sale
where i got all these books for under $7
the most expensive was 25 cents.
so i got a super duper good deal.
this is actually how i have been buying emi's books lately.
when the library has a sale, and it is seriously like black friday.
i show up 1/2 hour early just to get in line.
after fairytale town we headed out for some ice cream
emi enjoyed some bubble gum ice cream
and got lots of bubble gums for just a kiddie scoop.
she would get excited when she would see a new bubble gum
my mom says the zoo here is lame.
but this fairytale town has teamed up with the zoo
as far as memberships go...
so maybe in the spring we'll get a membership.
now if only i can find out when the zoo is having free admission
then i can find out for myself if it's worth it.

9.23.11 art class

emi loved her art class again this week.
most of the kids just hung out at the play-doh table
while emi went through all the stations over and over
like she couldn't decide what she wanted to do

she made this crown on the first day.
i love how it turned out.
the teacher came over trying to interact with emi
asking emi all sorts of questions, like what is your picture of? what color is this/that?
emi looked up after not ever answering her and said:
no talk me! (don't talk to me) the teacher and i rolled laughing.
and of course i apologized for my sass-a-fras!
she basically just added the glue.
when i asked her to put some glue on the body to attach the head
she went around the whole plate, her teacher was very impressed.
her water colors. she loves painting!

remember the days...

when i would just go to the park and take pictures of emi.
i think because we live with my parents
i have slacked on the picture taking and blogging.
i use to blog so much, not only for memory/journal
but because we didn't live near our families.
but the reality is, we still don't live near the majority of our families
just my parents.
so i am going to try to be better...

so today we went to the park after some errands.
she will smile a normal smile. but if i ask her to look at me.
it turns out more like this smile. silly girl.
telling me she is fine! i fine, i fine mom! like don't come near me.
enjoying the whole park to herself.
then some older kids showed up. she likes to people watch.
telling me, this one. which sounds more like f-if one.
i eventually let her climb that one, but with my help of course.
she actually held still for 2 seconds. and gave me the trusty forced smile.
i love this picture of emi.
i wish there wasn't sun/shade spots...but oh well.

9.17.11

what a fun weekend we had.
we were able to drive up to oregon to help celebrate the
marriage of eddie's brother russell and his new bride kailey.

i love this picture of kailey.
the parents.
the grandparents.
the friends.

kailey's family. i don't have a barfield family picture
can someone e-mail me one please?
kailey and her beautiful mom

us. love the smile emi!!
as i was taking this picture i noticed two things.

excited about something.

 it was past nap time
when emi gets sleepy she tends to put her hands in her mouth
maybe that is why we both came home with colds. boo!

momo and poppy had lots of disney books to enjoy.
taking her nap at 5pm, the day before the wedding.
we had a busy day...picking flowers with momo, running around doing errands
and doing last minute things for the reception.
which i didn't get a single picture of by the way!
so can someone e-mail me pictures of the reception too please?
momo and poppy got emi the large plush dolls
ariel, jessi and bulls eye (which she calls yeeha cowboy!)
thank you! she loves them.
on the drive up emi was asleep. we arrived at 4:35am.
slept a few hours and ran errands.
on the way home, she looked like this most of the way
(watching toy story, over and over)
if she wasn't sleeping or reading books.
this was today at nap time...which she refused again
that is a whole different story.
but doesn't she look happy! laying right on top
of ariel and jessi. her red headed friends, ha!

congratulations russell and kailey!!
