miss emi

just a little update on emi.

and how boring i have no cute pictures to add.

i've had "take some pictures of emi" 

on my list of things that i need to get done soon.

hopefully this week!

emi is now 27 months.

it's so awkward when someone asks me how old she is.

feels weird to say x amount of months

so i just say 2, and that she was born in march

not sure why it's so weird to me, but it is

she says: bless you me! when she sneezes. 

if we are in the car she will ask for a tissue

fake sneeze a few times, then 'blow' her nose a few times.

whenever we go somewhere emi asks:

a-go? (where are we going?)

and she will ask numerous times and if i don't respond

she says: mommy where are you? over and over.

when she says mommy, it sounds more like mummy.

when she complains about something, or i give a suggestion to something she is doing

she always says: ok(all drawn out) i will!

her favorite shows are olivia and caillou

she won't sit more than 10-15 minutes for a movie.

the longest she has ever made it

is to when in TS3 they arrive at the daycare.

seriously like 10-15 minutes in.

and then she will just turn off the t.v.

her hair is seriously so crazy when she wakes up.

in the morning or after her nap, it looks like medusa.

one time i said it looked like a bush and she laughed so hard.

i'm sure she had no idea what i was talking about

but for some reason she thought it was funny.

emi loves to get herself dressed and pick out her own clothes.

sometimes she is adamant on what she picked out

other times she can be swayed into something else.

and if we don't give her the opportunity to pick something out.

she will say, no!no!no! me do it!!

then she says: hmm? let's see?!?

and then picks out the same exact same thing we did.

she just wants it to be her idea.

there is a huge water tower in the next city over

every time we pass it, wook! (look!) a big ball!!

she says: gotch you me! (you can't catch/get me!)

when running from us.

my mom calls my dad honey and emi has picked up on that

she says: hi honey when he gets home from work. ha!

and randomly she will say: me gpa honey.

and i say: oh, your gpa's honey? and she says yes all lovingly.

sometimes when i ask emi when she is being naughty if she needs a time out

and she will say yes and go sit on the time out chair

emi also knows all of her colors.

can count to 10 and say her ABC's with help.

i say it, she repeats.

usually when we get to Q she wants to quit.

emi loves to read books by herself

lately she reads it, then hands it to us to read.

every time she says her prayers her first word is church

for some odd reason.

emi loves orange juice, when i ask if she would like milk or water

she always says: no orange juice!

popcorn, fishes, grapes and freeze dried bananas.

those are her staple snacks.

i guess that's it for now. 

*when we took her to her 2 year appt.

she saw a new dr. since we've moved.

and on the paperwork it asked questions like when she did this

and when she did that...and i seriously had no clue

thank goodness for this blog, i have that all documented.

sleepyhead

after swimming the other night

emi fell asleep in gma's arms

something that never happens! 

i just had to take some pictures of her while she was holding still.

i had to change her out of her bathing suit and into some p.j's

so of course she woke up

she wanted to lay in our bed to go back to sleep

at first she was fake sleeping, but she was truly still sleepy.

she kept peeking to see if i was still there

then she would smile and close her eyes.

after making her scoot over to daddy's pillow

and after she covered her face she fell right to sleep.

she's such a sweetie when she is asleep :)

i had to laugh when i pulled the covers off of her

because she use to sleep with her arms out like that when she was a baby.

the sink bath

the last couple of days we have been swimming every night

after dinner but before bedtime

we thought it would be fun to take a bath in the bathroom sink

emi was totally for it and had a fun time.

it was hilarious to watch her because she was so big

and had little room to move

she inspected her toe nail polish and was showing eddie she needs her nails re-done.

she seriously asks every morning to have her nails done

{eddie sees it as: i've created a monster, i see it as: a future pedicure buddy :)}

she just laid there. i thought for sure she'd want to play with water

but she never asked....

i left her in there for a second and came back to this

such a funny sight....what you can't see is....

she was fake sleeping!! ha!

 

and if you click on the picture you can see her unibrow 

tanner asks me almost daily if she will always have it.

i think it is so funny he is so concerned about it.

it was quite the task to get out.

i have a feeling she is going to want to do that again.

 emi and i think you are the best daddy ever.

you do such a good job and we are proud of everything you do.

 i love your answer when people ask if your discouraged about not finding a job yet

you always say no because you get to spend time with us.

thank you for always helping out when you don't always have to!

we love you eddie!

and happy father's day to all the daddies we know.

the rose garden

at our local post office, there is a memorial rose garden

sometimes when i go to the post office

i will walk around with emi, and look for lady bugs.

 

 as she was walking around yesterday, she came within inches

of this chicken/rooster (?) 

he must be the post office pet because i have also seen him in the parking lot

hanging out in the shade under a tree

when emi saw it she said: ahhh! and ran towards me.

and she kept calling it a chicken bug.

i wanted to take some pictures of her and she wouldn't look at me

she would just make her mouth into a forced smile, like the picture below.

every once in a while she would actually look my direction.

it makes me laugh how she wears her shoes.

when we ask her to put some shoes on those are her go-to shoes.

probably because she just slips them right on.

even though we didn't see any lady bugs she still had fun.

purp-it!

i finally got a picture of the thumbs up.

she was happy with her yogurt.

she went a little topping happy, i let her do it.

and she won't be doing it again.

she chose lots of candies that turned rock hard.

and i took this picture last night.

she has to have it be dark! like really dark.

so dark that she has to be completely covered, head to toe.

except for her hand was hanging out.

i actually made that blanket right before she went to bed

because her other blanket is double minky

and she has been sweating so bad, even with a fan on her.

so we needed something lighter.

we she has actually has been having some rough nights.

she gets hot so she uncovers herself, so then she wakes up

because she isn't covered and it isn't dark.

for some reason she can't figure out how to cover herself back up.

i hope this ends soon, because i'm tired of getting up in the middle of the night.

lunch with oma and opa

oma and opa means grandma and and grandpa in german

in case you didn't know.

well oma and opa invited us over for lunch on friday

we had a lovely time, it was so nice to chat and visit

without all the usual family around

they are both cancer survivors and we were able to hear their stories

since we lived far far away, out of state

we never really heard how they discovered the cancer, just that they had it.

 

emi thoroughly enjoyed herself.

oma had gotten her some treats she could snack on.

they also had gotten emi some apple juice.

a special treat for emi, since she rarely gets it.

she was seriously chugging it

and used the bathroom at least 5 times while there

because of how much she was drinking.

while waiting for lunch, cheeseburgers and brats

emi explored the backyard

she loved running around, and she does this often

flying like a bird. she learned today at dance, butterflies fly the same way!

she also picked from the cherry tree with eddie's help

and she was so proud when she would pull one off

she would go show oma, then shove it in her mouth.

she also enjoyed chasing their super shy cat around the yard.

the cat would come within a few feet and the second emi moved

the cat would take off and emi would go chasing it.

which i'm sure confused her because the cats at home love to be petted.

emi got to sit in the red high chair we all sat in as children

and i'm sure we even wore that bib.

waiting for  the burgers and brats.

 

emi warmed up very quickly to them

which was great, because i can count on one hand how many times 

she has been around them.

this was hilarious. that is not actually a hat.

it is a tea/coffee pot warmer, which oma's mother made.

 

we all got a good chuckle.

this is when she first put it on.

it was funny to watch her walk around with it

because it is heavy and her head would lean back.

 

eventually it covered her eyes and she didn't seem to mind one bit.

we were there for most of the day 

we had a great time and can't wait to do it again.

thank you oma and opa for having us over.

miss emi

is doing some funny things lately.

i wanted to to get a picture for each action but that didn't happen

and i wanted to blog about it before i forgot. 

these pictures are from emi 'helping' me clean the bathroom

which means she 'washes' her hands the entire time.

 she just kind of zones out and stands there.

she also has two grapes in her mouth, which is common

she hoards them and keeps them in her cheeks for a while.

refusing to chew on them until she is ready.

onto the things i wanted to remember:

• emi puts her thumbs up and say purp-it! (perfect!) she does it anytime something is good in her eyes...when her hair is done, when she gets completely dressed, a pb&j sandwich... 

• i have this tiny little button, like the size of a nickle. it is a blue car, every morning and at random times she goes around the house saying vroom! 

• every time she goes to sleep, take a nap or go to bed for the night she h.a.s to be completely covered from head to toe. making it "dark", we even put a blanket up to block the sun. the two things she says when going to bed is dark and pat, meaning pat her back. I count to 10 while patting her, and then I say good night, see you in the morning. then she yells goodnight as we walk down the hallway and she can't hear us walking anymore.

• she says just a minute and i'll be back, all the time. obviously she says, just a minute when we call her for something and or try to get her attention and she says i'll be back when she wants to show you something. or if she has hidden something and you ask if she has seen it, she says just a minute and brings you the item.

i think i might go back to updating things on emi

because i keep thinking of things i don't want to forget.

the only reason emi likes going to a park is for the swing.

she could careless about the slides.

 

so today we finally installed one into the backyard

since my parents backyard is practically a park, minus a slide

so eddie got to work and hung it up.

while eddie drilled the holes, emi begged for my camera

she loves to take 'pictures'

i had put the camera down for two seconds to hand eddie something

and i turned around and she was wearing it

and refused to give it back, so i forcefully took it from her

she also worked on her balancing. 

she loves to walk any line she sees.

she was seriously so excited! jumping up and down excited.

eddie helped her in, i loved her face

a little nervous, like are you sure this is safe dad?

she only wanted gma to push her, which is fine by us.

having so much fun!

then gpa came home from work and played a little.

i also wanted to include these pictures

the berry bushes are well on their way

looks like we will have lots of blackberries

and emi's fuzzy peach tree finally grew a peach.
