country fair 11'

today we headed to the county fair, mainly to see the animals

today was a perfect 70 degrees and sunny

i'm fairly certain our farmer's tan got a shade darker :)

emi looked so cute in her sunglasses

(she picked out her own outfit today, not too shabby)

{and she insists on those shoes everyday}

first stop was the animals

she was pretty freaked out... and would say:

i don't wanna! translation = i don't like this!

we went close to an oinking pig, a turkey gobbled and other animal noises

she pretty much cringed, like get me outta here!

she knows she is safe in daddy's arms but is still a little unsure.

she was more comfortable with the huge cows.

she is making a moo! noise in the middle picture.

emi enjoyed running around and using her stroller as a jungle gym.

tanner's friend had a few cows to show

we were able to see him prep them for their showing.

i was surprised how comfortable she was with these huge cows

but was totally nervous around the other smaller animals.

we also ran into whitney, ashley's husband david's sister.

follow that? my sister ashley's sister in law whitney.

that was is confusing!

she placed first and the purple ribbons mean something too but i forget...

then gpa took emi into the petting zoo.

no joke, when she saw me she said: mom, help! mom!!

and then gpa handed her some food to feed the goats.

he had to hold her hand because she would pull away

but once they ate out of her hand she was so excited!!

it was so cute to watch.

she then tried to feed the baby goats

and this older goat would come try to eat the food she had in her hand

she would say hey!... like that's not for you!!

we ended the day with the world's largest waffle cone.

it was 6 scoops of ice cream, half gallon

emi dug right in! luckily she gets away with anything with gpa.

swim'in

i was just looking back at pictures from a year ago.

and this picture was from last year to the day.

playing at the splash pad at the louisville zoo.

 

this was yesterday.

she looks like such a big girl to me.

she refused to look at me, this was after calling her name

for what seemed like the 50th time.

she was just so excited to go swimming

even if it is still freezing like a lake.

we decided we aren't going to put her in any formal swimming lessons

because she would be in the toddler, getting use to the water class

well she is use to the water, she just doesn't have the swimming techniques down.

so we have been working on it with her a little bit.

she still isn't sure about floating on her back though. 

and this has absolutely nothing to do with swimming

but she has learned to bow. and it's the cutest thing ever!

she will twirl in a circle like a ballerina, then do a bow.

i can't wait to see how she does in dance class, it starts in 3 weeks.

emi loves to have eddie lift her up to shoot baskets.

 

every time he let's her down, she does a happy dance

which consists of her running in circles with a huge smile.

i asked emi to smile and she gave me a super duper cheese smile.

her neck is all tight from smiling so hard, ha!

 

while emi was outside she wandered over to a big weed

she tried so hard to pull it out and it wouldn't budge!

her reaction was hilarious, like what the heck is wrong with it?

8th grade promotion

on friday the 20th

tanner graduated from 8th grade.

it was fun to be able to be here to support him.

 

emi stayed busy eating and watching dora & boobs(boots) ha!

eddie was in charge of carrying the goods!

not sure how many are in his class

but they split the group into two

one group to the left of the stage and the other group on the right side.

tanner was on the left side, among a sea of students.

i thought it was hilarious i caught him yawning.

and i caught him "fixing" his hair.

when he walked across the stage all you could see was his back

luckily i was able to catch him walking back to his seat.

my dad dared him to do the "dougie"

{you can google teach me how to dougie, if you don't know what that is...

but most likely if you don't know what that means, you probably won't care}

tanner claims he would of done it, but didn't get the text in time.

a few things i want to remember

emi is changing at such a rapid rate.

it's sad and scary how quickly she is growing up

and lately she has been doing some things i wanted to remember.

emi eating out of her "treat" bag!

i left the room for a few minutes and came back to a purple mouth and hands.

i decided, what the heck... let her live a little

she would spit out all yellow, green and orange jelly beans

which is funny because when not given a choice she will eat any color.

i said to her, o.k. don't tell daddy.

what happens the second he comes home?

daddy, me eat! while pointing to the jelly beans.

it's been raining her for days and she has insisted on being wrapped up.

and says brrr... me cold!

i also have been putting socks on her 

and she insists on taking them off for nap time

but wants them back on once she wakes up. silly girl.

speaking of nap time. today i said ok, let's go read some books, it's nap time.

she said, no! i mah (mad)!! i said your what?

so she swung her arm and said it louder, i mah (mad)!

i said oh, your mad it's nap time...in which she said uh huh with a big smile.

i think we are finally making some progress with her talking.

emi has been fascinated by the rain 

and we have been singing a lot of the wise man song.

along with popcorn popping because her favorite snack is popcorn.

the last few days emi has had a hard time settling down 

and falling asleep on her own.

so she's been giving us the poop excuse, is what we call it.

we have a routine that never changes.

bath, p.j's, brush teeth, books, potty, another book, prayer and into bed.

and right after we end our prayers she holds her butt and says poop!

if we say no she cries, if we say ok she giggles the whole way to the bathroom.

so we have been just saying this is your chance when she goes potty before bed

and let her cry it out...crossing our fingers she won't actually poop. ha!

another thing i wanted to remember was her first actual more than two word sentence.

she had popcorn the day before and had left her bowl in our room

when she came into our room the next morning

she walked right by her empty popcorn bowl and gasped!

she said: oh no! me(my) popcorn is all gone!

i said what?, from shocked at what i had just heard.

in which she repeated it again.

this is going by way too fast!!

seven years

happy anniversary to us!

we were able to go to the temple to do some sealings.

while emi took a nap, thank you tanner for babysitting.

then the three of us went out to dinner and enjoyed each others company.

woohoo!

can you believe it?

after a lot of hard work, eddie is done with graduate school!!

congratulations eddie! 

we are so proud of you and all your hard work!!

i'm so happy you'll never have to study again. 

and maybe once you get your diploma, since your not walking...

i will take a picture with your two degrees.

we love you!!

first swim of the season

this past week it was nice and toasty outside

so tanner and eddie decided to take a swim.

emi was begging to go in so we stripped her down and in she went.

 

eddie would take her around the pool then back to the stairs

where she would beg to go in more.

i had to laugh at this picture.

she was actually telling ozzy no!

 

she loved swimming!

the only bad thing...the water is still freezing!

like swimming in a lake freezing.

once she was out of the water she was freezing! if you couldn't tell by her face.

 

hopefully next time it will be warmer

and we will actually put a swimming suit on her.

good job!

last night tanner was recognized for having 

a 3.5 grade point average in 7th and 8th grade!

good job tanner!

after next week, you'll be in high school!!

keep up the good work.

last week

tanner had some friends over for a little swim party and hot dogs.

emi enjoyed watching to guys play in the pool.

 

tanner was trying all sorts of crazy tricks.

this was a requested pose by tanner.

i have about 4 others that look very similar to this.

with his crazy side-ways tongue.

emi loves popcorn so much!

she was trying to hurry and eat it before ozzy got to it.

we didn't stay out long though

because it was freezing! 

the pool is still cold, like a lake but the guys didn't care.

also last week emi helped me in the garden and orchard.

we usually are still in our p.j.'s when we water the trees.

the tree to the left of her is a fuzzy peach tree

planted just for emi...since she was fuzzy like a peach when she was born.

and cousin claire has an apple tree, since she is the apple of gpa's eye.

who knew artichokes grew sort of like pineapples

i can't wait until they are ready to eat! yum!

mother's day 2011

i had a wonderful mother's day this year.

spend a relaxing day at home. 

while eddie was my slave served me all day!

i was able to sleep in, until 8am

and when i woke up i had a nice pancake breakfast.

these are the pictures we made for all mothers (grand & great)

i was also able to take a nap, while emi napped.

except we stayed up playing words with friends for the first hour.

my little brother tanner made me a power point and wrote me a haiku.

so sweet! thank you tanner!!

we ended the day g-chatting with momo and poppy 

russell and niki joined us.
