Can I tell you a story?

I want to tell you how one girl (me) fell in love with one guy (Jeff) and how they have stayed together for 15 years and counting....

One night a group of friends went out for dinner after institute, and it just so happens we ended up sitting across from each other. He kept being sarcastic, but I didn't know who HE was, so I thought he was being rude. I was kind of disgusted with him.  After making small talk, and getting ready to leave, a friend teased and said 'watch you'll marry him.' I reassured her that was NOT going to happen. At the end of dinner he introduced himself, and said he didn't catch my name. We exchanged names, and I went on my way, figuring I'd never be interacting with him again. I had no clue that my life had just changed for the better. Wedid see each other, quite often. A couple of times we were both on group dates, but with different people, somehow we would always end up talking while on these group dates. I was kind of dating this guy but he wasn't someone I could see myself with. One night a group of us went out to dinner, as friends, Jeff happened to be there. After dinner I was leaving and Jeff followed me out and asked for my number and if he could call me some time. By this time I didn't find him as annoying as I did when I first met him, we had actually become friends. So I gave him my number and went on my way. A day or two later I was on a date with the guy I was kind of dating, when we got home my mom pulled me aside and told me that Jeff had called, she had tried to get a hold of me, and I needed to call him back. I am pretty sure my parents knew this guy was not going to be around forever. I said goodbye to my date and went inside and called Jeff. He asked me out and I said yes.

On April 14th, 2001, Jeff and I went on our first date. We started at Cheesecake Factory and after drove around until we ended up by the Temple. The grounds were closed, so we sat outside of the gates and talked. We talked and talked for hours. Honestly, it felt like we were catching each other up on our lives. We eventually decided to head home, after saying goodbye, I walked in and told my mom that I thought I was going to marry him. It was crazy! It was not on my radar, but it felt so right. Now Jeff took a little longer to come to this realization, but he eventually came around. From April to July, we dated off and on, dated other people. I'm not sure what changed but Jeff took a trip to visit his mission and when he came back we spent as much time as possible together. As soon as we were off of work, we were on the phone and making plans for that evening, even if it was just hanging out.

From July 22nd, we had only had one night away from each other. Otherwise we were spending as much time as possible together. On August 21st, 2001, we were with friends at a drvie-in movie. Jeff and I were sitting in the back of his truck  when Jeff told me he loved me. I do not think I can honestly describe the excitement I felt in hearing those words! From then on we expressed and exchanged many 'I love you's' and letting the other know that we truly did love them. The night of September 10th, Jeff and I had a 'marriage talk', we basically told each other we wanted to get married. We both shared our feelings, thoughts and ideas about it all. I was on cloud 9!!! The next day, September 11th happened, and what a day for Jeff to have a birthday. Despite the sadness and awful events that happened, we still managed to celebrate Jeff. It is a day we will never forget exactly where we were and what happened on that day. After discussing some things Jeff wanted to get married in January, I wanted to do November, so we settled with December :) We set the date for December 8th, but due to some scheduling conflicts, we pushed it ahead a week earlier to Deccember 1st. After we were married, Jeff said he wished I would have pushed to have it in November. HAHA!

From September on we were in wedding mode. Planning, looking and getting ready to tie the knot. Registering, making decisions (not my favorite thing to do), finding a place to live, all the crazy fun stuff! On November 17th I went through the Temple in preperation for getting married. Such an amazing day to share with family, friends and Jeff!!! The countdown was one and I could hardly wait! To say it was one of the greatest days of my life, is an understatement. Jeff is truly my other half and we complete each other.

We had so many family and friends attend our sealing, it was so special. And our reception was filled with more friends and family, so many people stayed the entire time and made it such a fun night! I had kind of pictured my wedding day, and this day exceeded any expectations I had. It was beauitful! It was filled with memories, so much fun, and was such an amazing night! That night as we were leaving our reception we realized we hadn't eaten anything (again so many people to see and visit with, we were blessed).

So we stopped at Sonic on our way home, which was hilarious because Jeff was still in his tux and I was still in my wedding dress (that was piled high on my lap). The lady at sonic said 'are you dressed up for winter formal?' Jeff said 'yeah, something like that.' HAHA! Such an amazing day was had, and we were officially husband and wife. I was married!!!!

The next morning my parents drove us to the airport for our honeymoon. Maui, Hawaii was our destination and it was fantastic!!

So many fun things to do and see, and gorgeous weather (even in December), definitely a place to remember!

Life as we know it had just changed! Our worlds were just starting and we were heading down a road that would bring us much happiness, some trials, lots of laughing, and tons of love!
This was just the beginning!

So Jeff and I put off buying pumpkins, the Saturday before Halloween we went to 5 stores, seriously! And they were all sold out!! So we improvised...we 'carved' sugar cookies. Some of the kids were okay with it, others were disappointed, but it all worked out.

Coleman told me that Kahle was going to be so sad we weren't carving pumpkins, as his eyes filled up with tears. I aksed him if he was really talking about Kahle, or if he was talking about himself. He then cried. I felt bad, but I also did not want Halloween night to be stressful in trying to cram in carving pumpkins. So we didn't. Next year I will be sure to buy them earlier so I don't have this same problem :)

Their cookie creations!

Mixing drinks to look like blood :)

Tradition!!!!

Haden and Grant wanted to stay home and pass out candy (we gave them the option). So Jeff and I took the younger 3 out trick or treating.
They were a hit!

After a couple of streets Kahle was done, but Coleman and Delaney wanted to keep going. So Jeff took Kahle home, and then came back and we continued with these two.

I really love that these three took a selfie :)

Halloween was so much fun this year!!! So many fun memories and time with family!
