Easter Afternoon

Taylor has had a very stressful month of school and tests and it was sooo nice to have him home with us for Easter. We had a lesson on the Resurrection, dyed eggs, ate yummy food and had fun with the boys.

Taylor had a non-traditional Easter basket because he had been wanting a tortilla warmer and yes those are 3x5 cards- what can I say he studies all the time!

Pineapple-honey glazed ham, lemon pepper asparagus, garlic potatoes and gravy- yum yum!
Oh and Razzleberry Pie for dessert(Marie Calendar helped me out with that one)

There was a little excitement while I was preparing our Easter Feast- flames, lots of flames. Now there is a new meaning to COOKbook.
I have ZERO counter space and my favorite cook book was sitting on the front of the stove, while the potatoes cooked in the back, well I turned on the wrong burner. Oops! Lots of smoke and flames and in the end Betty Crocker got a little toasty.

Chocolate bunny/telephone I over heard this rather one sided conversation.
"Hi Grandma, Easter Bunny came I cut up onions and FIRE FIRE!" Then he started singing "Who let the dogs out!?! who! who!"

Easter Morning

I was up late Saturday preparing for Easter, finishing my lesson, getting all the Sunday clothes ready, cleaning etc, I told D that he had to go to bed so the Easter Bunny could come- he kept yelling from his room...
"Mom! I hear the Easter Bunny vacuuming!"
"Mom! I hear the Easter bunny doing dishes!
"Mom! Tell the Easter bunny I am sleeping, (followed by loud snoring noises)"

It kept me laughing as I got things ready.
One of my favorite things about being a Mom is making holidays special. I love all of the build up and excitement and then it is so fun to watch the boys enjoy everything so much.

The Easter bunny had a hole in his basket and dropped candies in a trail around the house. This took D FOREVER to get through because he had to pick each one up and then recount all of them in English and Spanish.

Finally he got to the goods!

Stockton found his basket too.

D-man was quite wound up for church and had a chocolate mustache the majority of the day.

My hair is frizzy, my boys smell like sunscreen, we are stocked up on bubbles, sidewalk chalk and Popsicles- It must be summer in Houston.

My favorite side effect of swimmin' and splashin': long naps

Dawson has been doing more and more on his own lately and constantly asks if he can do the dishes, vacuum or make soup. - Let the slave labor begin! :)
putting on his own shoes and socks- excellent fashion sense

Vacuuming- he always says "Mom, the Vacuum is hungry"

Mr. elevator operator

what a gentleman!
As soon as he can wipe his own hiney and buckle himself into his car seat- we're having a party.

Makeover monday

Before...

After

Before...

After

the silver toothed stallion

When I think of metal teeth.... I think of

these guys....

and these guys....

but NEVER these lil guys

but alas, remember this:

apparently when Dawson had his accident a few weeks ago, he killed his front tooth. A trip to the dentist quickly turned into Dawson being strapped to a board and having a root canal, they drilled his cute little tooth until it was gone. :(
sniff....sniff ok so I went home and bawled my eyes out.
But to Dawson it is "a special cool shiny tooth"

So without further adieu............. introducing..................

The silver-toothed- stallion!

Blue Bonnets

So we had heard of the famous Texas blue bonnets and we spotted a few patches on our way home from the ice cream factory. Here are the boys enjoying the state flower.

I scream, you scream.......

We all scream for ice cream!
not just any ice cream, but bluebell ice cream. The boys and I made the beautiful drive out to Brenham, Texas to visit the bluebell factory. We saw how their ice cream is made and got to sample some of the heavenly stuff at the end.
