D-lightful moments

6/18/2010
When he noticed his bandaides from getting his shots, he got really excited "stickers!!" He began to pull them off "oh man, oowie stickers!

6/18/2010
I noticed that look.... "lets go poop on the potty" D: NO!! me: "Boys who poop on the potty get a sucker" D: pause, "A yummy green sucker?" me: yep D: ok! What a negotiator.

6/20/2010
Dawson was sitting on the potty when he farted then looked at me and said "I burped"
(Sorry if you find the f-word(fart) offensive I just can't bring myself to call it a toot- to me trains go toot toot, Tay prefers "let one" which seems kinds of strange also, what do you call Flatulence?? If you actually tell your kids to call it Flatulence I don't think we can be friends ;)

6/22/2010
When D wakes up he comes and cuddles in my bed until we are ready to get up. He was patting my back one morning and I said "Are you ready to get up and eat some breakfast?" D closed his eyes and smiled and said, "shhhhhhh I'm sleeping"

6/24/2010
D completed his farm puzzle all except the Rooster, he looked and looked for the piece and then asked me "Where's the cockadoodle?"

Bluebell Update

Just in case you have not been regularly checking our bluebell icecream rating system on the sidebar, I thought I should inform you that we found a 4 Scooper flavor and a 5 Scooper flavor in 1 week! that is big news at our house.

The 5 Scooper and my new all time favorite is Summer Berries

The 4 Scooper that is super yummy is Butter Crunch

Just because you are dying to know .....

My top 3 flavors are :
Summer Berries (tastes like summer+heaven)
Peppermint (is almost as good as my Aunt Penny's homemade peppermint ice cream, which is one of the best things on this planet!
Banana Pudding(tastes like banana cream pie- yummy!) ok there is a tie for 3rd- Century Sunday (tastes like a gourmet Sunday with double maraschino cherries)

Taylor's top 3 flavors are:
Pecan Pralines and Cream
Pecan Pralines and Cream
Pecan Pralines and Cream

He has pretty well decided that he will never need to try another flavor again because he has found perfection.

Summer Fun!

Summer is flying by, in between looking at a million different condos and houses, potty training, packing and errands we had some fun.

Our AC was out for a few days- Houston Summer + no AC + very pregnant is NOT a good combination. Me and D spent a lot of time in the pool

We headed to Surfside beach with some friends and had a blast. We grilled up some hamburgers and stayed until dark, the waves got really big and it is a little tricky to boogie board with a big prego belly, but I managed. I love the beach!!

Dawson has been very hesitant with water in the past, but this trip he just dove in and would not come out.

We went to a park close by and heard the Houston Symphony play. D loved to dance and applaud.

D was invited to a fun B-day party at "Pump it up" and with all of the big inflatable slides and toys he stuck climbing up and down the ramp- go figure.

Things you should NEVER say to a pregnant lady

I have found that when you are pregnant complete strangers say really dumb things to you......
(Just in case you are having a "dumb moment"- this is NOT my belly)

Things you should never say to a pregnant women- or risk being yelled at, cried on, peed on or glared at

1. Are you having twins? Really people?!? most likely they are not

2. You know, there is a chance your baby will be born with a full set of teeth- thanks for the nightmares.

3. Wow that baby is about to pop! - first of all I am not a toaster, 2nd I still have 2 months- geez

4. Have you had hemorrhoids/constipation/inability to control your bladder? yuck, I don't want to hear about your toilet issues.

5. Was it an accident? that makes it sound like I crashed my car into something AND babies are never accidents, if anything there are surprises.

6. You are having another one already? duh- this isn't a watermelon

7. My sister/friend/neighbor is as far along as you and you can't even tell she is pregnant.- good for her.

8.you must be having a girl because your nose/feet/butt are big. I can't see my feet, but thanks for the info

9. Wow you are pregnant, no wonder you have been so ornery. -gooo

If you are still in doubt- just hand over some brownies and smile.

fun project

I ended up with a bench from my grandparents house that they used as their toy box. Even though it is heavy and a bit ugly we have dragged it with us through several moves because it has sentimental value to me. I decided that I had had enough of the brown wood finish and green and black checked cushion and braved the humidity out on our patio long enough to get it painted.

before

after-almost, I still need to get some fabric for the cushion.

Another installment of D-lightful moments

In the great name debate(Taylor and I cannot agree on baby's name) Taylor has brainwashed Dawson.....
6/3/2006
D was blowing raspberries on my tummy and giving the baby kisses, I said "oh you are so nice to baby brother" D replied "No Mom, baby Ripkin"

6/6/2010
In my life when the food is ready you stop whatever you are doing and eat. (Food is a main priority) So when we are sitting at the table impatiently waiting for Taylor, Dawson will yell "DINNER! HURRY!" Well Taylor was tickled when we were headed to church and Dawson ran in my room and yelled "!VÁMANOS MAMÁ!"

6/1/2010
As Dawson was getting comfy for his nap holding his toy cars, Lightning Mcqueen and Mater, he said "Mama on pillow, you hold Doc"

After cleaning up too many poopy underwear I decided to try the pull-ups that get cold when you go in them, the very first time he went in them he came running up to me screaming "oowie bum, oowie bum" now when he gos in them he says with a smile on his face "ooooooo wow!"

5/28/2010
I smelled something not-so-pleasant and asked D "did you go poop?" he replied "nope, Daddy" I said it can't be Daddy he is at work. D says "Daddy stinky work"

6/6/2010
D noticed a few crumbs in his water, scrunched up his face and said, Guácala! (yucky in Spanish, sounds like wac-a-la) then he bit into a cookie and said "hmmmm, mmmm, mmm Rico!" (yummy in Spanish)

6/1/2010
We were laying in bed after Taylor put Dawson down and smiled as we heard him yell...
D: Mama book?
Me: no, Dawson it's bedtime
D: water?
no bedtime
cookies?
no bedtime
dinner?
no bedtime
cheese?
no bedtime
pause.........
nose yucky (wants me to wipe his nose)
no Dawson (this sounds mean, but I knew he didn't need his nose wiped)
pause
"ok potty"
now that did the trick, Taylor got out of bed and set him on the potty- he went about 2 drops and Taylor put him to bed and we went through the whole routine again. You might be thinking why don't you just stop responding to him? he will repeat it over and over and over "mama drink? mama drink? mama drink?" thats why.

Toes in the water

Memorial day we headed to the beach at Galveston with some good friends. It was a wonderful relaxing day of fun in the sun!
Toes in the water

Toes in the sand

One of the highlights was when a few of the Dads started pulling the kiddos around of a boogie board- there were a few crashes, but overall it was a hit!

Why Dads DON'T potty train

We have been working on the concept of potty training for a few months now, but when D turned 2 a few days ago he received awesome Elmo and Cars big boy underwear and we said "Bye Bye" to diapers.
He was making it to the potty about 80% of the time, but with 80% it is still a very long, messy frustrating day.
I was in charge of YW, so I went early and then took girls home after so I was gone about 3hours leaving Taylor to the potty business. I told Taylor to set the timer every 20 min and have D sit on the potty and if he says "potty" you have about 30 seconds to get him on it. I kissed him goodbye and wished him "Good Luck"

about 3 hours later I returned to.........

Dawson screaming in his room with a towel taped around his butt.....
a pile of Dawsons clothes, Taylor's clothes, pillows, towlles, blankets etc in the bathroom....
Taylor sitting at the table with bloodshot eyes looking as if he were hit by a truck.

What happened?? I asked....
"I don't care if he is in diapers until he is five! I've been pooped on and peed on and I am done!"

I hugged and kissed both of my traumatized boys, put the peed on pile in the laundry , had both of them go to bed and SMILED.

Taylor happily went to work this morning with a smile on his face as he kissed me goodbye and said "Good Luck".
This is a random mix of: adventures from teaching at Snow Canyon Middle School, weekend hikes, different pregnant belly sizes and everyday life.
