summersaultin'

D has had this little trick down for a while, but recently he does them for hours! I hear "mommy, watch it" and away he rolls sometimes of the couch, sometimes off the bed- always followed by giggles or a "whoa".

More from Louisanna

After saying goodbye to Rex as he headed to the airport...

We drove through lots of swamps.....

Dawson spotted some ducks to feed....

and we stopped for some genuine Louisiana BBQ!
(notice the lack of "green" on my plate- Jillian Michaels would yell)

After not recognizing several things on the menu, I asked our toothless waitress what Boudain and cracklins were she replied with a shocked look on her face "you ain't from here honey, Boudain is dirty rice with meat and here we do it smoky, now Cracklins are friend pig fat Cajun style."
hmmmmm, still not sure what they are

OPERATOR won't you put me on through...........

I gotta send my love down to Baton Rouge!

I was so very sad to find out that I could not fly home to see my little brother when he came home from his mission (with the baby due so soon), but so very happy when I found out that Baton Rouge is only 4 hours from Houston and his mission president said "Come on down!"
We surprised Rex by driving down to see him the day before he was headed home to Utah. As we arrived in Baton Rouge and found the temple Taylor and I had butterflies, we were so excited. When Rex (well Elder Parry) walked through the church door he did a double take and then looked shocked and happy, it was so great to see him. He kept saying "Wow, you're here"

Dawson who was only 1 mo old when Rex left to serve the lord in Louisiana instantly loved his uncle.

How do you hold this kid?

there, that's better

I was able to go through the temple with the missionaries, it was so neat. (Taylor babysat D- thanks babe) Then we headed to the mission home for a yummy dinner and testimony meeting. It was so great to see my little bro, I am so proud of him!

4th of July

My favorite holiday has come and gone again, we had our first Texas 4th and it was great. We headed up to Gilmer to spend the fabulous day with the Dawsons.

There were wonderful fireworks, Dawson loved them and kept saying "BOOM, BOOM!"

Puppy Love
There were adorable puppies at the BBQ. Me and D begged and begged to take one home, but practical Taylor said no.
These cute cousins were so sweet to D, it was a great holiday.

Hello hurricane season

I did not take this pic, but I saw several scenes similar to this one today.

As Hurricane Alex hits northern Mexico I read that we should expect thunderstorms here. Thunderstorms, no big deal right? Whoa!! Houston thunderstorms is more like the ocean falling from the sky!
It was raining when I woke up, but so what its rain, so I continued with my plans of seeing several condos, as the day went on it got worse and worse on my way home it was insane!! There were cars stalling everywhere, I saw an ambulance with water up to its windows! I kept thinking- "get to higher ground"- its Houston there is no higher ground! At one point I drove up onto the sidewalk so that only half of the car was leaking in water. The manholes (are they called manholes? ya know those things that the ninja turtles would always pop out of) were shooting up water like geysers, I don't understand city drainage systems, but I am pretty sure that is not suppose to happen.
It would have been a lot more stressful if Dawson wasn't yelling "Weeeeeeeeeee, ooooooooo big splash!" from the backseat making me laugh. After gunning it through a river to get into out apartment complex, then wading through knee deep water we made it safely inside. It was quite the adventure.
This is a random mix of: adventures from teaching at Snow Canyon Middle School, weekend hikes, different pregnant belly sizes and everyday life.
