Cabellas

We went to Cabellas the other night to get a few things for the boy's campout and Sibley and Jude were having a lot of fun there. Silly kids!!!

Allen Eagles Football

Because Rob took Gabe camping for the night I had to think of something fun to do with the other two kids. We were so lucky and scored some tickets to the Allen Eagles high school football game. Seriously, the stadium is a little ridiculous. It was over 60 million to build and just opened this fall. But it was a lot of fun. The band was amazing too. We had a good time with some nachos, hot dogs and good old Texas football!

Scout trip

Rob was called to be the 11 year old webelo leader. They had a camp out last night so he took Gabe along. Gabe did great and was able to pass of lots of things in his Webelo book. Gabe really does love scouts! In preparation for the trip we got Gabe his first pocket knife. He was so excited. I was a little nervous but her returned home with all of his fingers so I guess he did well. I sure missed that boy when he was gone.

Birthday plans

Last night Sibley said to me in a distressed voice, "Mom, I don't know what to pick for my birthday. I want to go to cosmic jump, chuck e cheese, swimming, a justin bieber concert, and swim with the dolphins." Tough choice. Oh yeah, her birthday is in 4 1/2 months.

Jude's Flag day

Jude's teacher has a blog and these were some pictures Jude was in for Flag day at their school. I love how loud he appears to be singing!

Beautiful Sibley

Sibley really is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. She is just so lovely and spunky all at the same time. I try hard not to focus on looks with Sibley. I always stress the importance with all the kids about hygiene and looking nice but I try not to just focus on the outside. I think working with eating disorder patients and having one myself in the past I am really cautious with Sibley. I try to compliment her talents and kindness. But I also need to be aware that it is important that she builds a positive body image. It took me a long time to get to the point where I accepted my body for what it is. I don't want her to have the same struggles. On Sunday she wore this new dress that grandma bought her and she just looked like an angel. I asked her to hop outside on a drizzly day and snap a quick picture. She really is just stunning on the inside and out. I especially love her toothless smile! I love you Sibley and you are the most beautiful girl inside and out!

Allen Folk Festival

On Saturday we met Megan and Josh and their kids yet again for dinner and a fun time! We went to Torchy's Tacos. It was ok but we still prefer Fuzzy's. Then we went to Wendy's for a frosty. Then off to the library for the free Allen Folk Festival. When we got there our two families were the only people there under 60 years old. No joke. We got a couple nasty looks but it didn't sway us. There were two performers. The first lady was talented but put Jude to sleep, and half the men in the crowd! I kept seeing wives nudge their husbands. Then The Fox and the Bird played and they were awesome. They were very upbeat and they are based in Dallas. We bought their CD and Gabe got all of them to autograph it. He felt like he met famous people. It was really cute and they were very kind and actually thanked Gabe for coming. It was yet another fun night with the Harris family!
P.S. Don't even get me started on Isa putting laying her head on Gabe's shoulder.

Sick Jude

Last Friday Jude woke up around 5:30 and came downstairs and said, "mom, I don't feel so well." No he didn't! He had a fever so I stayed home that day with him. It was actually really nice. We were able to just relax in bed and watch spiderman all day. He was given medicine around the clock and finally fell asleep in the afternoon. I made him some homemade chicken noodle soup and bread for dinner along with his gatorade. He was a happy boy!

funnies

The kids have said and done some pretty funny things lately. And cute too.
Jude- Hey dad, at school they have a stage where you can come and eat with me. Will you come to lunch with me sometime?
Gabe- Angry with me for not letting a friend come over. I get home from work and go to tuck him in and he says, "well, look who it is."
Gabe was funny the other day. It was school pictures and he was worried his hair was going to stick up so Rob told him to go into the bathroom and put some water on his hands and try to fix his hair. So Gabe got out of the car and bent down and put his hand in the water and wiped his hair. Who needs clean water anyway?
Sibley is really excited to be in 2nd grade and during the first week of school she went to school with an old pair of her grandma's glasses she found and put them on. Her teacher said it was so funny because Sibley just said, "I have to wear my glasses." But the teacher was trying hard not to laugh because she said it was very obvious that Sibley could not see out of them. But being the determined spirit she is she still wore them all day! How did she not get a massive headache?
The Kids are all healthy and happy. It's been great to have all of them in school and enjoying their teachers. Things are plugging along for us. We are still trying to figure life out. You know, what should we do? Where should we live? How long until retirement? But we find that Heavenly Father knows what is best for us and we are just striving as a family to live the gospel and as we do this we are blessed and realize what is important in this life.

Mellow Mushroom

We met our good friends Megan and Josh and their kids in Denton this past weekend at Mellow Mushroom. It is this awesome pizza place. They have a questionable looking mushroom man in the front so of course we wanted to get a picture. My boys are such typical boys and they decided they should pic the mushroom man's nose. Sibley had her diva pose to boot. Fun times with friends!

Cooler weather

Last Saturday the weather finally broke and we had temperatures in the 70's. Rob had to work part of the day so off to the park we went! When we got there we found a smart car and Sibley is obsessed with them so she had to have a picture by it. Sibley rode her scooter around and played on the playground and the boys played football and wrestled. I love the ages of my kids and how I can actually relax at the park and enjoy watching them play instead of chasing them around. They are such bright and fun kids I am a really lucky mom!

Karate Kid

Last Friday night we decided to watch The Karate Kid as a family. The first picture is how the movie started. Jude by me for a while. Then he and Sibley both fell asleep and even Rob went to bed. So Gabe and I were the only ones up by the end of the movie! We both fell asleep on the couch that night and slept horribly but it was worth it to spend time with my boy!

Genetics

Last week Sibley had a very loose front top tooth. She already lost the two bottom and other top tooth in the past month. Rob told Sibley that when he was in 2nd grade he had all four teeth in the front gone too. That was good motivation for Sibley to let dad pull that extremely loose tooth out. It came out easy and she was so happy when I found daddy's picture. Her 2nd grade school pictures are Monday so they both will have similar smiles! P.S. how awesome is Rob's hair?

Stuck this way

Rob got called to be the 11 year old Webelo leader and they are going on a campout next weekend. Rob came home from scouts and told Gabe he gets to take him camping too. Jude was upset and then Rob said I can probably take you too. Then the crying continued. I asked Jude why he is still crying if he gets to go. His response, "I can't stop crying, my face is stuck this way." I asked him if he wanted me to take a pic and he said yes. Silly boy! Yay for boys camping and girls bonding!

Jude's Class

How cute is Jude and his little Kindergarten class! He is really enjoying being a big kid now. He likes that he goes to school with his brothers and sisters and I think he has matured so much in one short week! Can't wait to see what this year brings!

Love

I love it whether mommy or mummy!

Food challenge

Gabe kept telling us all week that a kid at his school would bring jalpenos to school in his lunch and Gabe said he loved them. Rob and I kept trying to convince him that they probably were not real jalpenos but instead green peppers. Or perhaps some sort of canned pepper. Because Gabe insisted we had to put him to the test! We went to the store and paid 12 cents for a jalpeno. Gabe took a bite, I was quite nervous but he had no reaction. Then knowing he would get the agreed to 3 dollars for a bite swallowed but an additional 5 dollars for more pepper Gabe went for more. He ate half a big jalpeno pepper with ease. Well, there was some discomfort but not much compared to a normal human. In the process of Gabe eating one Jude ate a small bite without reaction. Rob and I thought perhaps it was a bum jalpeno and we tried some and sure enough it was hot! The lesson, Rob and I have created super human children! Although it could be genetic because when Rob was a boy his dad let him try a garlic clove and he survived. So maybe it's just a rite of passage. In the end Gabe got 8 dollars and Jude got one and mom and dad are out $9.12.

Fun movie night

Today is labor day and because no one had work or school the kids got to stay up late. I peeked at them watching toy story in our bed. Love it!
