July 27-31
We took our first family vacation with the Niederkleins this year. Well, we have taken several Nebraska family trips, but this was the first real vacation where we got to relax and had no obligations!
It was a 5.5-6 hour drive over. The kids did amazingly well and we only stopped once in Burns to get blizzards and play in the park. It was good to stretch our legs and run around a bit.
As soon as we got to SunRiver, we were off again to check out the village area and get dinner. There are walking/biking paths everywhere so we just grabbed some strollers, bikes, and scooters and headed that direction!

There was a train so the kids all boarded for a quick ride!
Day 2: After some "Josie time" we headed over to the aquatic center. It was perfect for the kids. There was a shallow area with a big sand box, a lazy river, a log jump, a slide, a couple pools. There wasn't much shade, but grandma ended up making a tent/fort for the kids.
We had dinner out in Bend at a cute little restaurant and then lucked out with the kids getting to play across the street.

We checked out the white water park before heading home, then we finished the night with dreamsicles...Kingston's choice!
After the kids went to bed, Joel, Lindsay, and I played a game of Yahtzee.....which ended up being the best game of my life! I managed to get 2 yahtzees...look at that score!!
Day 3: Lindsay and I stayed home with the kids while everyone else went golfing.
It was nice to just hang out and play. We built forts, read stories, went for a walk, and took naps. Julienna absolutely loves baby Josie. She just sat by her and smiled and giggled and talked to her.
Lindsay made dinner and then we celebrated my, Kingston's, and Joel's birthdays with cupcakes!
Day 4: We packed up the kids and went for a great ride (except Grandpa, he went golfing). Kingston had his scooter and he was keeping right up. We started at the nature center and saw birds and snakes. Kinston and Jonathan were excited to see the Bald Eagle...or maybe it was a Golden Eagle.
From there, we rode to the park and let the kids play, stretch, sleep.
After all that, we headed back to the house. We split up and Julienna and I managed to get ourselves lost and then Julienna kept throwing stuff out of the stroller so I kept having to stop and pick stuff up along the way. We had to call for directions and did manage to make it back...we just missed one little turn!
We went back to the village for dinner and had so much fun! The kids had so much fun in the bounce houses and we even talked Kingston into doing the big jump thing. He was squealing with delight! Jonathan and I stayed with the kids to check out some stores so we were riding home in the dark! Jonathan was busy trying to make the kids giggle in the bike carrier that he almost rode smack into a deer! It was so funny to watch from behind because I had just warned them that there were deer on the paths.
Day 5: Pack up and head home. I could have used one more day. It was such a kid friendly place and the house we stayed out was so comfortable and inviting. We will have to start planning our next trip!
