Cabin Trip and Yellowstone

Jonathan and I drove up to his family's cabin in Island Park on Saturday. We didn't make it in till after dark, but we still got in a couple games of Catch Phrase!! My mom and dad even joined us up there and all three boys came up as well. That was in addition to Joan, Cam (and Rocky), Zac, Emily (and Remmy), and Rob, Monica, and Brylee. But we had so much fun and the weather was perfect.

Sunday we floated the river and played games at the cabin. Brylee really seemed to enjoy sitting in the front of the boat.

Jonathan fished and caught some real "whoppers."

The dogs all played in the river and went on lots of walks.

We found some really weird snow piles and then a sign that we weren't too comfortable seeing on our way out.

Jonathan and I were champs at ladder golf and almost came out on top during Washers, but Emily and Zac beat us in the end.

Monday all the non-swimmers (Tucker, Remmy, and Rocky) put on their life vests and headed in for some swimming lessons.

They did pretty good, but Tucker would rather stay where he can touch and blow bubbles in the water.

We went for more walks, but steered clear of the snow piles this time. We made a trip to Yellowstone in the afternoon for wild-life sightseeing. Cam and Joan took Jonathan, Emily, Zac, and I in the RV. It is a nice way to travel. We even ate dinner while watching the animals. We saw 7 or 8 bears (but Jonathan saw one less), buffalo, coyotes, elk, mountain goats, a beaver, and a muskrat. No geysers, but I think I was the only one disappointed by that.

Tuesday brought a moose to the cabin!!!! It was pretty close, but I was able to take a picture threw the binoculars and get even closer. Jonathan did more fishing and the boys did more playing and swimming. Right before we left we saw them fill the river back up with fish (they must have heard about all the ones Jonathan caught), so Jonathan was ready to stay another day.

Emily and I cleaned up the cabin while the guys worked pretty intently on finding the quickest route home....but Emily and I didn't think they did too great a job. After 6 hours of wedding talk and me singing, Jonathan will probably try a little harder at finding the quickest route home.

But it was a great weekend and we had lots of fun!!!

Alyssa's Quick Trip

Alyssa came back to Boise for the weekend!! This was the first time I had seen her since she moved to Nebraska in February, so I was really excited to see her. Luckily we are never too far from our phones so we still get to talk all the time. I think I finally have her graveyard/week on/week off schedule down. Unfortunately, I only got to see her Friday and Saturday because Jonathan and I were heading to Yellowstone. But now I'm counting down the days until she comes back for my bridal shower.

While she was here, all of us scrap girls (Alyssa, Joy, Wendy, Mel, and Emily) got together to watch the Sex in the City movie. We ended up watching the entire series in monthly increments while we met for scrapbooking and crafting. It was a cute movie and I think we all cried at some point.

On Saturday was Alyssa's Bridal Shower. She had a good group of friends and we all sat around and talked and ate food while she opened presents. Not to brag, but I did win the game about who knew her best!!! Time flew by too quick and before I knew it, I had to leave.

I miss you tons Alyssa!!!!! Only 24 days till your back again!!!

Dog Agility

Zac and Emily came over last night with Remmy to run the dog agility course. All the boys did really good. Remmy didn't care for the teeter totter but he did great at all the other things. Tucker is always just looking for treats, and even tripped me up trying to avoid the jumps. Chief is still a little clumsy with those long legs. Barney did great, no suprise (just kidding). We had Remmy follow Barney and that helped me to get more comfortable. Zac and Emily have done a great job getting Remmy socialized. Here are some pictures of the athletes!!! Chief jumping!!!He's all legs!!

Another wedding

Jonathan and I went to at least 5 weddings last year. There won't be quite so many this year, but we do have our own to plan for. Jonathan's friend Crystal got married this weekend. It was a nice wedding and a fun reception. It was nice to be able to go home afterwards because all the other weddings were out of town. We even got some tips for our wedding!! The reception was kind of dark so my pictures didn't turn out, but I did get one of Jonathan and I.

Mom's Birthday

Jonathan and I made dinner tonight for my mom and dad in celebration for my mom's birthday. My parents had left over salmon that my brother had caught over the weekend and I made potatoes and salad. We had our traditional TCBY white chocolate moose cake. It was a fun night.

My camera kept dying so I didn't get many good pics. Mom, you'll have to get me your pictures. This was taken right after she blew out the candles.

Guess where???

The VET!!! But this time was good news. We just went for a re-check on Tucker. Dr. Braumschmidt took a slide of Tucker's face wrinkles and said he is doing tons better. We are off medications and only have to do the face wipes. He did say that we better get used to those wipes because we will be doing those for probably the rest of his life. But for now, he said that he didn't need to see us again till after the wedding. A vet that knows when your wedding day is, that says a lot. So everyone cross your fingers for three healthy dogs.

Cake!!

Mom and I made our first attempt at the wedding cake. I always volunteer my mom for these projects that I think we can do, and thus far, she hasn't let me down. I bought a cake dummy on e-bay and we just needed to frost and decorate it. We had never used fondant before so it was a learning experience. However, it didn't turn out half bad. We are pretty confident that we can do it. Just 3 more layers to go!!!

Jonathan's Stream

Well, Jonathan finally finished his stream in the back yard. It turned out so nice. All the plants look perfect and he even put some calla lilies in there. The rocks look purple and all different colors when they are wet. We had to put a fence up to keep the boys out. Tucker has eaten his share of low tree branches so Jonathan didn't want that to happen again.

Jonathan did such a good job...his artistic side definitely shows.
