Birthday Friends

We had a small get-together with a few friends for Rebekah's birthday. It's not a party year. It's not suppose to be a party year. And yet, I got sucked in and before I knew it - BAM: a sort of party.

First, Rebekah decorated the cupcakes for her birthday.

A close up of a few:

Rebekah kept asking for a Hollywood theme complete with glamour and a red carpet.

Glamour oozing forth.

I wanted to do a photo booth for them using my old computer's backdrops. We tried almost everywhere in the house but kept getting shadows. From the following picture I thought we had it fixed but turned out not so much. However I think the girls still had fun.

This was one of my favorite moments: the girls getting out of frame so the background could project on the screen.

Here's a few of their photo shoot:

They made their own pizzas and then had cupcakes.

I tried to get one more of Rebekah but my understanding of lighting stinks. Ah well.

Happy birthday to my glamorous red carpet girl!

Turning 11

Many weeks before her birthday I asked her what she wanted for her birthday wall. She told me she wanted it science themed. I went back and forth and finally decided to draw her as a scientist.

But after I was kind of sad I didn't do the crazy scientist. So I decided to draw that and use whatever looked the best.

I ended up using them both. I colored them and made 11 little colorful beakers, each one with something we love about Rebekah on them. After she was asleep on her birthday eve Don helped me put them on her closet door.

A few days before her birthday aunt Jackie sent her a birthday card and gift.

For the morning of...

I bought her a shirt for the occasion.

And then forced a picture right before school. One can see the annoyance in her eyes.

After I got her to school I took a picture of the science birthday wall.

Then I had all day to work on the cake. Rebekah asked for a Hollywood themed birthday. I really had no idea what in the world she wanted (we don't even have a TV people) but I googled images and came up with a few ideas. I created stars on a stick by using stickers and toothpicks. I also found a large festive pinwheel looking thing and bought those too.

She asked for confetti cake with strawberry frosting. I embraced the red food coloring to make a red carpet. So - much - frosting.

My mother gave Rebekah the world's softest blanket.

Rebekah asked for a Texas Roadhouse dinner.

Girl loves her dad.

And of course Texas Roadhouse celebrated her with their own birthday style.

Back at home there were presents.

Grammy Got Rebekah a container for her earrings, complete with earrings and lots of spare change.

Grammy's card.

Frank gave her a card too, a hair scrunchy, and socks.

We finally gave her that space lego set I found months ago at Costco.

And a Pendleton Arabians spirit wear hoodie.

Not sure why but I love this picture of the Bee in her hoodie counting her loot.

Then, of course, there was singing.

Followed by eating.

And the birthday interview. I included the previous years in italics.

What's your favorite thing to eat?
    Candy corn.
(at this point I specified "dinner" and got Lasagna. Who knew?)

    Cheese Rolls

What's your favorite color?
Blue - Teal to be exact.

    Purple

What's your favorite thing to play with?
    My bike.

    Dolls

Where is your favorite place to play?
Any where there is room to run.

    Upstairs

What is your favorite show to watch?
    Puppy Dog Pals
(Excellent choice. It's a fun show.)

YouTube Art For Kids Hub and Descendants 3

What is your favorite song to sing?
I like making up my own songs.

    Church related songs

What is your favorite book?
    Frozen comics.

One can see from her choices she's maturing in taste. Girl is getting so big! Apparently we're into Harry Potter and YouTube; only one of which I'm okay with, but there you go.

Every day she is a little different then she was the previous day and every day I love her more. I'm so glad she's my little - not so little - girl!

Halloween

Rebekah decided she needed to paint the pumpkin this year, which was wonderful considering I wanted the pumpkin for eating purposes.

Turned out pretty cute.

I didn't notice until I got it home that there was a back.

And then the day came when she got to put on her Mal, daughter of Maleficent costume. Complete with hair extension clips.

She totally acted the part.

Halloween was a little drizzly. But that didn't stop our crew.

I, of course, forced the group shot.

Don stayed home to give out candy.

Rebekah's stash. I think the neighborhood has less of a turn out than it was expecting so they gave handfuls instead of one or two pieces. Needless to say I'm not planning on buying her candy for a very long while.

And, after many Halloween years, she was finally able to spell S N I C K E R S.

And my favorite "treat" in the stash: a little lego skeleton kit.

A few pictures came up on my feed. This was Rebekah's first Halloween. Tow Truck Driver, so she could help people.

Ready to go!

And then this one came up. I think Rebekah is now Abby's age in this picture.

Halloween has never been a favorite but Rebekah's enjoyed it immensely, and it is fun to watch her as she enjoys.
