Cousin Fun

{Feb 11-12, 2011}
Abby and Austin came to stay a couple days with my parents so that means, party at Nana and Papa's!!!  Friday Uncle Carson/Big Daddy took Marcus, Alec, and Austin over to a Bear River Basketball game while Olivia, Abby, and Taylee had a "beanie baby" girl party at my parents home!

The boys had a wonderful time and thought they were cool winning T-shirts and the girls had a wonderful time exploring all the many beanie babies Nana has.

They also enjoyed lots of "giggles" in Molly's human slinky!

After a sleepover at Nana and Papa's everyone came and watched Marcus play basketball and then they all went to see the Justin Bieber movie!  They all loved (including Nana and Papa) and they are still talking about it!
 {The girls also did a little shopping, they are cute girls!!}

After the movie Olivia, Abby, and Taylee made some cute Valentine necklaces and bracelets.  They had a wonderful time and they were very proud of how they turned out!

We love being able to spend tons with cousins!!!

Payton James {14 Months}

It is true months are passing by way to fast, my baby is 14 months old!  How is this happening, it is just flying right by.  He is at such a fun stage, but he is very busy!!  I told Carson he is our first kid that we are having to put locks on the cupboards and having to strap him into shopping carts.  He for sure keeps us on our toes, but he is still just a sweet, cuddly, happy baby.  He is looking more and more like a toddler and less and less like a baby, but his height isn't seeming to grow to much!  When we are in public places people often ask how old he is when he is running around because he doesn't look like he would be 14 months old.

 He loves his brothers and sister so much.  He loves to follow them around and try and do what they do.  He has really been paying attention to the older boys playing basketball, so he will take a ball to Carson and want him to lift him up so he can make a basket.

He makes doing the dishes really hard and no fun at all!  He pulls out all of the silverware and climbs all over the place.

He has 4 teeth right now, my kids get their teeth slow (and they take forever to fall out as well!).  We love his smile when his teeth show, but I swear his 2 top teeth are HUGE!

He continues to be hard to plan ahead with clothes.  His tops right now are anywhere from 6-12 months-12-18 months and his bottoms are 6-9 months-6-12months.

He is still a picky eater.  We still feed him a lot of baby food, but we are slowly trying to figure out other things that he will eat without dry heaving.

He enjoys dancing, driving cars and trucks around while making nosies, reading books, changing the channel on the TV, playing with balls, being in the tub, and making HUGE messes!

He thinks he is really big like the big kids when he has a pen, pencil, crayon, etc in one hand and a paper in the other and he thinks he is doing his "homework"!

He gives the best hugs ever, he will take those cute little arms and wrap them very tightly around your neck.  He also is giving more kisses, wet and slobbery!

When he is told "no" or he is being shy around people most often he covers his eyes with his hands or will fall to the ground covering his face.
He loves when Daddy comes home from work, he will yell "Da-Da" very loudly and deep.
He doesn't like when I leave, Carson will often find him knocking on the door going into the garage.  He has started calling me, "Mamba!"  I will still get called "Mama" here and there, but mainly "Mamba!"
He will call the older 3 kids "Buba".

He is very polite and with make the "th" sound in thanks when handing things to you.

He really likes Hudson, but doesn't bother him to much.  He loves to see Nana, Papa, and Aunt Molly.  He will often rather be with Nana or Papa if we are all together.  To be honest I get quite jealous when he won't come to me because one of them are holding him!

One morning just after I got the boys off to school I was cleaning up the kitchen and in walks Payton with a big symphony chocolate bar in his hands and mouth!!  Where in the heck did he get it?  He loved it....

We are loving our little buddies stage of life right now.  He is way to smart for his own good, but we can't ever seem to get enough of him!

Olivia's Thoughts....

I love four year olds and the way they think, especially this little four year old!  She is way to observant, she is the Princess of this crew, she is the Lil' Mother of her brothers, she is a little "spit fire" at times, and as sweet as they come at other times.  Our Olivia is talented and way to smart for her own good!

One thing I enjoy about four years olds is watching them try and figure out life and what it has in store for them and what it all means.  Her preschool teacher commented the other day that she is for sure the "Sparkle" in her preschool class, I could only imagine what that means!

She loves school, she loves to dance (although I have to stay and watch her!), and she loves going to Primary.  Her Primary teacher this year is my sister's mother-in-law.  Sister Joan made all of the kids scripture bags to hold their scriptures in.  That whole first week her scripture bag went everywhere with us, it went to dancing, rides in the car, and grocery shopping!  I feel so fortunate that there are such great teachers in her life right now that will help guide her and help her have positive moment that will help her in the future.

~The other day we were talking about dancing and I told her about one of her dance teachers and how she had 8 kids and told them all of their names to see if she could decide what they all had in common.  I could tell she was taking it all in because she had that "thinking" look on.  Her response was, "she must of had a big car!"  What the???!!!

~One morning Carson and I were both in the kitchen getting things ready for the day and Payton was in there doing his usual things...making a mess!  Olivia walks in and say so matter of fact, "oh, child of God!"  I said to her, who is a Child of God?  She responded, "Payton, he is making a horrible mess!" Really we do teach her that she is a Child of God in a good way.  It was a quick reminder to me that she tries so hard to talk big, even if it makes no sense at all!

~A couple of days ago Olivia very concerned asked me if there were "Handy-cats" in the road and why.  I confused asked her "Handy-cats"?  She said yes, "you know where you park."  Poor girl, I am not sure what she was thinking was happening to those cats, but I quickly explained to her that it is "handicap" and what that means.  We both giggled and then she was on her way!

Over the Christmas brake we were visiting my Simmons side and my cousin Jenny was there visiting from going to school in Colorado.  She had the cutest feather extension in her hair, I loved it.  I thought for sure it would be forever until it came to Utah.  Well a couple of weeks later there was advertising her in town at a local beauty store that was doing it and it was cheap!  At first I thought colors would be fun, but then I decided that I wanted a more subtle look.  So Olivia got two that are similar shades of her hair and I got two that I similar shades to my hair.  It is kinda fun, Olivia loves it!  She really would like her Nana or Aunt Molly to do it as well, she even explained very well had to drive there.....(It the photo above you can see one of her feathers)

We sure do love our Eia Beans and the joy she brings to our home!

Super Bowl {2001}

I remember when I was little the Super Bowl was such a big deal.  Growing up our family was big 49er fans, which I feel like they were in the Super Bowl a lot.  As I got older they weren't in it and I didn't really care.  Now that I am married we cheer for Carson's team, Chicago Bears.  They aren't always the best, they did get in one year and did come close this year.  Then after the whole Janet Jackson mess up a few years back, the half times haven't been as fun either!  But my point is I haven't gotten as excited to watch the Super Bowl as I remember I did when I was little.  This year my sister invited my whole family down to her house to have dinner and then watch the game.  We had a wonderful time.  We had wonderful food, it was a good game, and we really enjoyed the half time show.  Although I do think Carson's favorite part of the half time show was Aunt Jaime doing the running man with Fergie!  The kids had lots of fun playing and watching the game and Marcus was thrilled that his pick on the score of the game was the winning pick!

Party Time.....

Carson and I decided we should let the boys have a little get together.  So 16 boys later we were having ourselves a "Chinese New Year" party!  We had a yummy dinner: Sweet and Chicken, Fried Rice, Egg rolls, and Fortune Cookies.  The kids had lots of fun.  We had one crazy house for a few hours!  If we do it again we may do a little bit more geared towards the Chinese New Year, but for a quick throw together this year turned out great!

 The boys being crazy kids in our basement.  It was nice to see them all getting along with each other!

Olivia has two little friends that are sisters that live down from us so we thought we would let her invite them so she could have fun as well.
Maci, Olivia, and Mckenna

They had so much fun eating, making bracelets, coloring, and playing with babies!

Sleepy Baby

The other day when I ran in the Church to get Marcus from his Den meeting Payton was getting a little fussy, so Alec being the awesome big brother that he is picked him up and just help him.  He fell asleep quickly, he doesn't look to comfy, but he was out!!!

Our Lil' Monkey....

{1.27.11}

It seems like on a daily basis we are reminding Alec he needs to be careful so he doesn't get hurt.  He climbs up things, does flips off of things, etc.  We call him our Super Hero Monkey!  We have knocked on wood many times when he has done tricks and fallen that we have not had any broken bones or stitches.

Well it happened, but not like we thought it would!  One day after Parent Teacher Conference Alec had to run back into the school to grab something so Marcus and I were waiting in the car for him.  I see him running towards us and then I hear a thud.  Alec then stands up holding his elbow crying!  I at first thought he hit that dang funny bone, so I just watched him for a few hours.  As he just sat there not wanting to move his arm and didn't want to play with friends I realized there might be a little more to it.  I had to substitute teach the next morning so I figured my best time to have it checked was that night.  We loaded up to go out to the ER, he was nervous, he wasn't sure what was going to happen!  After some x-ray's the on call Dr. believed it was just bruised, but wanted us to see an Orthopedic Doctor the following week because they wanted them to check the growth plate.  They put it in a splint and sent us on our way!

At first I think he was a little excited to show his friends, but that quickly changed to how NOT fun it was to have his arm wrapped up!  I should say we were lucky that it was his right arm since he is left handed.  The next five days seemed to get long and old.  He was not impressed at all and wanted to be done with it.

{2.1.2011}
The morning of his appointment we were hopeful that we would be done with it and it was just bruised and would be sore for a few days.  Well we realized we were quite wrong!  He had fractured his growth plate!!!  The Doctor seems to think it will heal nicely, so we are hoping for the best.  He picked out a bright orange and even had some sparkles added to it.  It is very bright and big!
He has become able still do pretty much everything, but he is not enjoying how itchy his arm feels!  I tell him to be grateful that it is only for 3 weeks (hopefully the x-ray comes back good).

{Brothers}

Payton
 is so lucky
 to have two older brothers
who love him
 so much
 and can not get enough of him!
He is loved way to much in this house!

Pinewood Derby 2011

As a member of the Church one of the things that happens to boys when they turn 8 is start the Cub Scouting program.  I have been a Scout leader a few times, I am not very good at it, but I did promise I would try and be the best Scout mom!  Since he has been 8 we have lacked in leaders and with the holidays Marcus hadn't started attending his Den meetings and Pack meetings until the first of the year.  His first Pack Meeting, Pinewood Derby!

He looked at ideas on the computer and came up with his shape and colors.  Alec also wanted to participate so he did the same thing.  They worked hard at it with the help Papa and Dad.  They looked great and were proud of the outcome!

Marcus received his Bobcat award as well as his first out of four beads to receive his Wolf.  When they receive the bigger awards, like the Bobcat they get to put a special Bobcat pin on their mom.  He wasn't too sure about it, but we were sure proud of him!

 Alec's got the "Most Heroic" award

 Marcus got the "Rock 'n Rollin'" award

We think our Mr. Marco 8 year old Scout Man looks pretty dang handsome in his Scout uniform!

Basketball cont....

Oops, I forgot to add this photo.  One thing that is fun about Marcus' sports games is the fact that I get to chat with my friends and the kids get to play with their friends.  One of Marcus' friends, Jarett, has an older sister that both Olivia and Payton enjoy being around.  She is a great helper!!!

Bears Basketball

Marcus has started his Basketball season for the year.  Our team is the "Bears".  {It is kind of fun having him be on all these teams in the same area that I grew up, so he would get our schools same name!}  Most of the kids on Marcus' team are his friends, but he has a few new kids that Marcus didn't know before this year.  It has been lots of fun for him, he loves whatever sport he is doing at the time.  I think I will look forward to it being over so I
don't have to hear him doing lay ups on my vaulted walls anymore :)!  We sure enjoy watching him play, he is a good little basketball player, he tries hard and it has paid off!  It will be fun watching this group of boys as they grow each year!  Good Job MARCUS!!!

Olivia's Hard Day....

{1.20.2011}

Olivia recently had her 2nd Dentist appointment.  During her first one she was not a very good little girl, so they just quickly looked at her mouth, but didn't do too much because they didn't want her to be scared always!  So after her 2nd appointment we found out she had 4 cavities!  We had to go up to the Hospital so she could be put to sleep and then they could fix her teeth.  Once they got in there they did x-rays and realized it really was 9 teeth. (Really we brush her teeth!  She has her dad's family genes!!).  Four of her teeth had to to have silver caps and then the others were just basic white fillings.

We talked about it often and we made it sound like it was no big deal and that she would do great.  Well once it was time to walk out the door she had a huge melt down and it seemed to continue all the way to Logan!  She continued her grumpiness until she got to color and play on the boys ipod!

 Fine I will try and smile!

 This is pretty cool!

 Look at my cute clothes, hat, socks, and ankle bracelet!

 It was not fun sending here with the Doctors, she freaked out and it broke my heart.  When she came back she was scared and very sad.  Those moments can really break your heart!

We started playing "Angry Birds" about and hour after she came too and then she did just great.  She is very proud of her "4 silver" teeth, four just like her!

So long hospital!  Hopefully we won't be back.....

2010 Wrap-Up.....

2010 Will be a year to remember, a year that I feel defines our family.  It is a year that I don't care to re-live again (unless completely necessary), but a year that gave us as a family and individually so much strength.

We were lucky to be able to watch all of many firsts from our little Payter Roo!  He is such a wonderful addition and blessing to our family.  He is such a cuddly and a happy baby.

Olivia had her first year of dance as well as started her first year of preschool.  She is such a darling dancer and enjoys every aspect of school and the independence that it givers her!

Alec graduated from Kindergarten and started his first grade year.  He grew so much!  He played a few seasons of Soccer, he says Soccer is "his" sport!  He is very talented, it is fun tow watch him.  He is a great big brother and was a wonderful helper while our Big Daddy was gone.  I was amazed at how strong he was while Carson was away.  He was the one I was worried about the most, he is so attached to his Dad that I thought he would struggle the whole time he was gone.  He had his moments, but he was so strong, he was such an example to me.  He was courageous and strong!

This year for Marcus was a big year.  He turned the BIG 8!  When he was born I would think about all of his big milestones that he would hit, one which was 8, never would I have thought it would come so soon!  He too also showed amazing amounts of strength while his Dad was gone.  He was a big helper with the 3 younger kids.  Nearly every morning during the summer he would hear Payton wake up in the morning, he would come get him and watch TV with him while the rest of us slept.  After a week or so doing it Payton would here Marcus watching TV and then he would make nosies so that Marcus would come get him.  He played his first season of comp. baseball and started getting ready for his first comp. basketball season.  His problem is he enjoys all sports, but can't play them all, so for this upcoming year I believe he will be sitting out of playing soccer!

For Carson and I we did the unthinkable, something that never once when we were young and thinking about what our future would hold was this it.  We spent over six months apart.  It was hard, it was sad, frustrating at times, but in the end it was rewarding.  We did something that was so hard, but we have been blessed by the choices we made.  I feel like we both have become stronger for our family as well as for ourselves!
