Graduate School Stuff

I got my diploma in the mail the other day.

Cool.

However, what is not cool is I turned in my thesis on March 11th. They told me I would get it in the mail 10 weeks from the day I turned it in. I called Wednesday because it will be 10 weeks today. They told me it was sent in with a batch at the END OF APRIL! "So, it will be 10 weeks from the end of April?" "That's what it looks like." I would like to hold the fruits of my labor thank you.

Another lady called me back and said one shipment went out in March and I hope my thesis was in it. They are backed up because the switched systems. Shouldn't it be faster because you are using an electronic copy instead of a hard copy. You just email/download the document.

And many other pointless things. This just goes to show my progress since finishing graduate school. I'm excited to do something new and get my mind off of these things.

BYU Baseball

We finally were able to make it to a BYU baseball game this season. Everything worked together to make it a great day. We didn't have graduation or any other event to get in the way. The weather was finally beautiful (not snowing). It was such a fun evening. Here are some pictures from the game.

I know the pictures don't look amazing because I got more sky than field. I was attempting a panoramic that I am going to try on photoshop. I didn't realize I wasn't getting the whole field. Also, I was trying to get more of the ambiance of the whole thing not just the field.

Happy Mother's Day...

Today we thank all mothers. I also played with fire today. Sorry for the picture being blurry. I don't look very skilled at this because I'm not. However, it was pretty fun just to hold the stick.

I do want to thank our mom's for all they do for us. We are so grateful for all of the time and effort they put into raising us. We are so happy for our families.

Graduation: MA Mass Communications

I'm finally officially graduated. Life is passing us by so quickly. My whole family came up for graduation because it was their spring break. My mom stayed for an extra week. It was glorious. Here are some pictures from graduation.

I'm sure there are more with the family, but I don't have them.

Quilt Project

For the past few months I've been working on a t-shirt quilt project. I had so much fun working on this project. Back during Thanksgiving break my mom and I started cutting out the blocks and creating the foundation for the quilt. We decided on the size, the look, and all of the logistics.  From Thanksgiving to Christmas I finished cutting out the blocks and sewing some of the smaller ones together first.

Natalie and I tried to lay them out to see what it would look like after I had created all the blocks. This picture is on my phone and I don't know how to get it off.

When I went home for Christmas we put the quilt down again and sewed all of the blocks together in columns. Finally, we sewed all of the columns together. Then we went shopping for backing fabric and batting. It took a while. I found this awesome fabric that I ended up purchasing a ton for my kitchen (not for my quilt).

When I got home from Christmas I started shopping around for fabric. I finally got a good sale and got the fabric. Then, after a long waiting period I was able to go with a close friend to her parent's house (in April). This is significant because her mom has a quilting machine. We put our quilt on the machine and we started. After a long long long process of making mistakes and restarting we finally finished. It took two days. Thanks to Kendall I actually finished. I think I would have given up after the first day. The second day he came with me and helped me finish.

I finished the Friday before my mom came to Provo. She came for graduation and then we started getting the binding ready. We cut, ironed, pined, basted, etc. Then my mom took it home to finish the binding on a better sewing machine. It was back to me in less than 3 days. Here is the final product. I LOVE IT.

This was one of the best things I have ever done! I hope you all enjoyed this tour of my quilt. If you are interested in making one of your own, google it. It seems strange, but the more research you do the more you will know what type of quilt that you want. You have to allow for creative decisions. If you don't want to make decisions this project is not for you.

Best Night EVER!

Last Friday night (late post, it was April 8th) BYU had a graduation celebration. This is our third (yes third) graduation from BYU. You would think we would have gone to one of these before. However, that is not the case. We saw a poster at BYU on Wednesday and Kendall said, I think we should go to that. I thought he would get over it in the next few days, but he pushed and we ended up going. I am so glad that we went. It was so much fun.

The night started with booths. We did a few little games and won some prizes. I won a t-shirt and chapstick. I also did a bowling ball challenge thing and won a lap blanket (like the ones you take to football games). Then we had free food in the Cougareat. Not healthy food, but it was fun to be with Kendall and we saw some of our neighbors.

THEN... We went and did free BOWLING! I was soooooo excited. I love bowling so much. It seems funny and I'm not that good, but I think it is such a fun thing to do. I love smiling and encouraging each other. I scored a 137 and 140 which is pretty good. We signed our names twice for one game so we could play longer. If I would have bowled straight through I would have had /, /, /, X, X, 5, 8, X, 7, X, X, /, 9, 6, 9, 8, X, 9, 9, /, 8. Obviously you don't score it like this, but it felt really good to have that many strikes and spares. Here are some pictures we took.

THEN... After bowling we went up to see what the raffle and entertainment were going to be like. We were presently surprised with the International Folk Dance Ensemble. They had some other things going on but this was by far the best entertainment. It was so worth staying to watch. I love dance so much. When I see them I wish I would have kept doing some sort of dance (not because I was good, but because it is so powerful). I am committed to being a fine art and dance lover.

Overall it was such a fun experience. I am so glad Kendall encouraged me to go. I just wonder why we never went before. It was also great to spend some time with Kendall just the two of us. We saw more than three couples that we have known during our time at BYU and all of them asked, "are you guys here by yourselves." The answer was YES and it was so fun to be with each other and focus on each other. I am so glad that I married my best friend and that he makes me smile. I am happy that we can spend time together, just with each other, and enjoy every moment. This was such a fun time and a good way to take advantage of our time at BYU.
