18th hole- Golf Wrap Up for Lane

We rushed to Lanes City match after Della's baptism to catch the
last half of the course.

Luckily he was paired up with Jackson.
His sister is a photographer, so we scored some professional pictures!

This was also the start of all the "lasts", as Lane is a Senior.
My heart was sort of aching.
Golf has become something special for him.

He has come a long way with his game.
The nice thing is he will get to play well into being an old man!

Uncle Jake and his cousins, always there to support.

These 4 were a tight senior group.
Together from the very beginning as Freshman.
Lane, Jonathon, Jackson, and Sawyer.
Forever grateful for their friendships.
Good friends are EVERTYTHING!!

Coach Shoemaker.
What a coach!
It takes a village to raise boys.
He was instrumental.
So patient, kind, and encouraging.
He has been the golf coach for about 12 years.
This was going to be his last.
His Parkinson's wasn't allowing him to do much more.

These boys were lucky to have him all the way through to the end.
I personally believe he pushed himself one last year to see them off.
It brings tears to my eyes to know how much he cared for them.

I'm going to miss watching them lug their
ginormous golf bags around.

Why are these these types of endings so hard on moms?!

We celebrated big for their end of their year banquet!
My parents were so kind to let us use their backyard.

Mesa Golf holds a special place in their hearts as well.

With the help of my brother, who also played golf with coach
Schomaker years prior, we secretly invited as many past
players as we could to attend the banquet as a surprise to coach!

It was a lovely evening honoring him, along with the 24-25 team!

The boys requested smash burgers.

Alumni sharing a few remarks.

What a history Mesa High golf has!
Such incredible boys and men!
We were missing a handful as some are currently serving missions.

The current team.
Some boys had snuck off already.

The seniors.

Sock tan lines like this mean it was a good season!

I am going to miss finding these tees in my dryer.
