Crazy August

August is always crazy for us, because as we try to squeeze in last minute vacations and activities, we try to shop for school clothes, throw 2 birthday parties, and BAM.  School starts whether we're ready or not.  This year is no exception.

We tried to get up our beloved canyon to Mutual Dell for cookouts as many times as possible,

squeezed in swimming lessons,

played games on the family iPad,

made desserts,

rode bikes,
{This little guy is completely and utterly obsessed with Lightning McQueen & the Cars gang}

dressed up,
{Kierste}

{Halle}

graduated in cub scouts (to Webelos),

graduated in cub scouts (to Webelos),

visited Daddy at the ER (our cousins had taken the rubber end off the scooter handle recently, and when Kierste hit her chin on it, it sliced her open).

where K yelled No More Pokey!  And Dad, I don't want you to Doctor anymore!!

and big sister helped entertain with Daddy's phone

gave Carlie presents,

threw her a party,

gave Morgan a cake,

breaky in bed,

a party,

and presents.

When we went school shopping, Kierste decided she was going to be a model... or a mannequin.

Morgan went shopping for treats on his birthday, and WOW.

Derek felt left out visiting Daddy, so he went, too.  We just got new Cutco knives, and Derek needed to cut the core pieces off his apple... he even only used a kitchen knife.  =(

But treats for being somewhat good!!

Then ugh.  School started.  It's really exciting and everything, but I don't really like it when school starts.  I have a feeling that they're going to leave the nest the next time I blink, and I'm going to be devastated.  I want them around me amap.  But fine.  Miranda started 9th grade,

Carlie started 6th (notice the bag of newspapers to start their monster projects right off the bat), Morgan started 4th, and Derek started 2nd.

The twins will start Kindergarten (tear) a week later, but they want a picture of their cute outfits that day.

I have to show Derek's constant smiling face while he plays soccer, and does anything

We had some epic rainbows.  This one went in a complete arc but we couldn't capture it.

Finally Halle & Kierste start Kindergarten.  Even thought they're pretty stoic, they are so excited =)

Then they want departing pictures before they leave every day.  =)

And saying bye to the twins every day is hard for Connor, but we are best buddies while they're gone.

You know, Kindergarten is hard work.  You have homework like making a special box to put your things in.  Baby brother wants to "craft," too.

Goodbye, August.  =(
