Mischief Monday - Not As Advertised

Last Friday, the dogs were left alone in the morning for maybe 1.5 hours. On my way to work, I was dropping the Man off at the garage to pick up his car (it is winter tire removal time!)

Man came home to this:

Our fancy, expensive touchless garbage pail is totally broken. Seems the birthday boy  had different ideas about celebrating or pulling an April Fool's Joke!

When I was searching for a new one, I found this description.

Clearly not true in our case!  The replacement should arrive midweek, and will always be left on the counter when we go out!

Mischief Monday -A Whole Lot Of Trouble

First, there was thunder last week, and even though Man was home, somehow this happened.

Then the power was out for11 hours (starting in the night because of rain) and even when it came back, some of us were terrified.

Then Lady and Man went out for dinner in a private skylight chalet. They look like this.

They had a wonderful time.

Fireworks started before they got home. Harry Potter (the second time Harry has been a victim) and Death of a Saleman needed to not exist.

It is suppose to storm today. Both peeps are home. 🤞🤞🤞 we behave!

Michief Monday - Destruction Light - by Lee

Dear pals,

On Friday afternoon I was feeling a little out of sorts. Lady isn't sure why, but maybe it was because it was raining. I scratched Lady's door until she let me in. I started to dig up the bed by the desk.

Then I started to take tissues from the garbage and

destroy them all over the bed.

Even thought Lady and the person she was video chatting with had a chuckle, I was finally able to settle down and relax.

Lady says to tell you the movie she was referring to in Friday's post was from Faye's guess, X-Man Origins Wolverine. Lady went for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (he is her favourite kind of character) but stayed for Liev Schreiber as Victor.

Trouble On A Tuesday - Trash Pandas? A Great Mystery

On Saturday, Lady and Man left the house around 9:30 am. They were going out to visit Grammie and the Big Guy's new house. They finally got possession and will be moving in shortly after Easter. Lady and Man also picked up groceries on the way home (because they literally drive by the grocery store).  They arrive home about 3:10 pm.

As they were pulling into the driveway, Lady said out loud "I bet we should have moved the garbage."

Those may have been famous last words, because they walked into this:

Please note that the container behind the tipped over garbage pail (an old milk container) hold the dog food.

The dogs were asked what happened and they had no idea.

I have no idea Lady, I have been just sleeping here

Witnesses were questions - they saw nothing.

While the mess was a lot (and the second in a few days), Lady's biggest concern was the fact that 20 chicken wing bones were missing. A Google search said to monitor the suspects for 72 hours to make sure there was no blockage.

While both dogs maintain their innocents in this mess, their poop has oddly have tinfoil and chicken bones.

Oh the adventures of being a pet owner!
(The garbage will be emptied or removed when people go out next time, which won't likely be for some time because we are in the 3rd wave of pandemic).

-----------

Update: The Phod was out repeatedly on Sunday night with an upset tummy. The people were thrilled. A rice breakfast was served and he is being closely monitored. Paws crossed he will be fine! By the end of the day his tummy seemed to settle and his behaviour all day was normal.

Note: Yesterday people mentioned we should take Lee out when she asks. We generally do, and when she is scared she asks to go out and rarely does business because as soon as she is out, she wants back in. It is likely the ac idents would have happened if we had gone out.

Mischief Monday - Grab Your Coffee It Is A Long Story

Lady has been working in overdrive to help cover for some colleagues who have gone on medical leave. She has been working 12 hour days. What gets her through said days is a good night sleep. At approximately 12:40 am Thursday morning, the rain distressed Lee. Being the dutiful owner, after the pleas to just go back to sleep, Lady got out of bed. She moved downstairs to the couch. She turned on all the lights and music so the rain could not be heard. She stopped Lee from destroying 4 rolls of toilet paper, but let her rip up a comforter (as destroying something helps).

She dozed on the couch until her alarm went off at 5. She dragged her butt off the couch to step on a dog bed that had been peed on. She picked it up, walked it to the laundry and threw it in. Then she proceeded to the powder room, where she notes the comforter was done. After using the toilet Lady stood up and stepped in poop she has not seen under the remains of the blanket.

After washing her feet, she returned with a garbage bag and started cleaning up the fluffy, poopy mess (much of the poop had been stepped on and was well in the ceramic). Lady soon noticed blood on the blanket too - and blood and poop up the wall. Really it was like cleaning up a murder scene.

(Re the blood - it appears while digging Miss Lee cut her nose).

After 15 minutes the mess was removed and the morning proceeded without incident. We had a walk, Lady worked out, she showered, she unloaded the dishwasher and was about to sit down with her breakfast when she noticed what her best guess was vomit (it appears someone ate some of their poop) all over the dining room floor. So Lady cleaned that up, scrubbed her hands, and settled down with her very soggy cereal thinking, maybe when we were asking to go out at 12:45 am she should have just opened the door. But then she realized it was Thursday and no good ever came from one so what should she expect.

Lady had an extra long work day (thankful it was at home) and two dogs spent the day napping.

No pictures were taken of the mess.

Be sure to come by tomorrow to find out what happened next.

Throwback Thursday and Now - Will Wonders Ever Cease?

10 and a half years ago, when Miss Hailey Bug came to live with us, she was apparently crate trained. We quickly learned she was very determined to not stay in her crate, and after she destroyed the second one, we gave crate training up. If you click HERE you can read one of our stories from 2010. Here is picture from that post.

So you can all imagine my shock and surprise when the crate (we use it for Emma) has become one of Hailey's favourite places to sleep. We keep the door open and now we often find her resting there!

What? It is cozy.

Mischief Monday - Catching Up - by Lee

Dear Pals,

We are back again after a brief break. As we mentioned, Lady had to abandon us because she doesn't love us.  Lady and Aunt C had to go visit Grammie and the Big Guy and deal with a house they inherited the contents of. Lady returned over a week ago, but she was exhausted from the long trip, exhausted from in 15 hours having to decide the fate of thousands of household items, exhausted as she prepared to go back to the office (which she will refer to as hell - all the damn cleaning). So while she got the Canada Day post up, she didn't get much else done on the blog front.

Taken during some off leash training. I am rocking this!

Now we are back to the real phase 2 of the new world. Lady leaves 1 day per week and to make up for this, is taking Fridays off for the month!

When Lady returned, my first order of business was to punish her for being out. This sort of backfired on me, because it pointed out I needed my dew claws clipped and I was subjected to that. But perhaps a small price to pay to show Lady my displeasure.

The claw mark on Lady's leg. I hope it scars

During the past few weeks we have had some thunder and more fireworks then we should (thanks to July 1 and apparently July 4 - any excuse to blow things up). The Man gave me a dose of the Valium while Lady was away because of all the storms, but other than that I am drug free. I have found ways to keep myself calm enough.  I have decided the kitchen in front of the stove is a safe place and spend a lot of time there. Man finds it annoying if it is time to cook because I just don't move.

Holding a baby can keep me calmer

Also, Man and Lady have just allowed me to continue to rip up a blanket in my fortress of solitude downstairs. They say if that keeps me from destroying the house and helps me stay calm and let's them sleep, they will buy me as many blankets as I need.  It is a fair compromise.

So that is life here in paradise. I hope you are all well.

Your pal Lee

Mischief Monday - Lee vs the Storm - by Lee

It was a dark and stormy Wednesday night/Thursday morning. At approximately 12:20 am, I became aware that we were going to die. I alerted the people.

Too tired the next day

Lady heard my alert and got up. She opened doors, blocked the guest room which I was trying to dig my way through, turned on lights. She settled on the couch.  While I was pacy, I was able to settle as the world was right enough.

Then the worst of the storm hit shortly after 3 am. I went into full alert. I tried destroying the crate (which I was not in, but it was blocking the guest room). I destroyed some toilet paper. I ripped up my bed. Lady tried to get me to settle but I could not.

Lady brought in reinforcements.  She went and got Man, who was in bed with a scared Phod on his head. I don't know what Lady said because I was destroying things, but the Man got up. He came down, told me I had made a mess and now it was time to go to sleep. He moved to the couch. I settled down and sort of slept until the morning.

This blanket is very ripped up now. Good thing Lady bought it at a thrift shop for me!
Lady was very, very annoyed that I would only not believe the world was ending unless the Man told me. While she was  annoyed, she also realized it won't be her that has to get up with me.

Lady is using what is left of the semi-destroyed roll!

In spite this bad night (that lead into a crazy 2 days, which Phod will tell you about tomorrow), Man and Lady still aren't putting me on meds. I like being off them best, they like me off them best and are still able to be home most of the time. This may change as things open up.

Lady says she can't tell who won this, me or the storm . . . . It is a draw I think!

Catching up on my beauty sleep!

Throw Back Thursday - By Lee

Hailey Bug here to share a picture from when I was a puppy and very naughty. I would never do such a thing now!

Lady was cleaning out some old journals in her office and found this one.

It appears to have the Hailey stamp of approval! When I was younger, I really liked to chew books. I am over that now.

Lady said, we all would be a little happier if I kept my destruction to this level. She may actually be right for once.

Trouble on a Tuesday -Lee's Bird

Lee's Grammie gave her a stuffed bird that was not designed for pups. Lee loved it and for 6 weeks played gently with it. Then one day the bird had to die.

Trouble on Tuesday - More Mischief

As stated yesterday, we are decreasing Lee's prozac. We are doing this because she doesn't need it when storm/fireworks season is over. For her health, we would rather her not be on it.

In the wee hours of Saturday morning, a thunderstorm rolled in. While rain was in the forecast, thunder was not. Lee moved right to scratching the wall beside Lady's head. It was Man's turn to get up with her.

It took a long time for Lee to settle. She was determined to do some damage. She tried pawing at/destroying Man's computer. When that was not successful (he made her move), she finished off the bed that was in the fortress of solitude (aka the downstairs bathroom).

A used comforter has been put in its place, so she does have a safe place.

In the event another storm rolls in we will either increase her dosage for the day and/or give her Xanax. It was much more challenging for her to settle down on the lower dose.

While the Man was pretty tired the next day, our princess had lots of naps.

Terrible Tuesday - Poor Lee

Last week was a stormy week. I did not give Lee her Xanax on Tuesday before I left for work. We thought she had done ok until later in the evening when I walked into the downstairs bathroom (aka her fortress of solitude) and discovered the fortress bed and some rags had been chewed up. While I sighed cleaning it up, I did tell her this was a level of destruction we could live with.

She had her Xanax on Thursday, and still ripped up the rags I have put in the garbage (she took them out of the garbage). We still call it a win!

Mischief Monday - Repaired

When we first moved into our home almost 7 years ago, we had been in the house for 10 days when Hailey did the following:

Hole from 10 days ago

The Man did a decent job fixing it for a person who has no experience with this type of thing.

Then at the end of July of this year, Miss Lee made this happen.

New hole

Because we learned from time one, drywall repair is not our speciality, and because we are in a slightly different financial situation (i.e. we didn't just move, adopt a second dog, and we aren't carrying 2 mortgages) we hired a handyman to come and fix it.

He finished the job last week. While he was in the hall, the dogs were suppose to be downstairs but . . . . . . . .

Zaphod managed to sneak upstairs but with a few reminders stayed out of the way.

Hailey had no problem staying downstairs while strangers were upstairs.

Now, for the first time in almost 7 years, we have a complete wall at the front door (and it is all painted the same colour as the paint we had was slightly off - who knew they could colour match paint? Not this not at all handy gal!). We are hoping to enjoy this section of complete wall for more than 10 days.

And of course the new spot is all finished too.

We are hopeful we will never had to fix Hailey destroyed walls again.

Mischief Monday - The Moth Strikes Again

Last Friday the Man went to get dressed. He took a clean shirt off a hanger and found this! We know it can't be new as the laundry is no longer kept in Lee's safety cave, and Man had not worn that shirt in the past week or two. Looks like the moth is a big problem in our house.

Mischief Monday - Moths

As some of you may have seen Phenny and Nelly had a moth problem last week. A moth ate a big hole in a cardigan. It seems said moth has either taken a plane or come up through the hole we are digging toward each other and has eaten a hole in one of the Man's shirts.

Hailey, who was hiding in the closet at the time of the storm when said moth snuck in, assures us, it was a moth. It could not have been her. She would never have taken the shirt out of the laundry and arranged it around her to make her feel safe. She says the moth came in and did this and then left the shirt on her bed.

This is a warning to all in Blogville, beware of moths!

And a mouse update - so far we have caught 2. There seems to be a problem with either the mice or our humane trap as the poor little things are getting injured. Man is working to fix this problem.

Mischief Monday - Taking Care of a Blanket

This is one of the blankets we originally got for trips to the kennel. During the first trip, a mad Hailey started taking it apart. It now lives in my office as a spot for the pups to rest while I am working. Last week, during a work at home day I heard the faint sound of 'rip' and looked over to see my girl taking more stuffing out. I let her, it makes her happy. This blanket was from a thrift shop and cost less than $10. It is hers. Eventually she will have taken all the stuffing and we will throw it out and get a new one!

Mischief Monday - Storms

While on the 19th we talked about how the Lady went out for zip lining  but we didn't talk about the mischief this caused.

A short storm rolled in while the people were out. As she was alone, Hailey was forced to do the following:

It appears she tried to dig her way into the guest room. When asked about it, she was too busy stretching to answer.

This past weekend was also hard for our girl. There was a combination of thunderstorms and fireworks as it was a national holiday in our province. She did better with the fireworks, but with the thunder she hid in the basement between the washer and drier and

when she felt brave came up to be with us in the kitchen. Notice how far her little tail is tucked up. She was shaking so badly and refused to eat her dinner. She remains on her prozac, but I am not sure if it is helping (although I am terrified to think of what she would be like without it).

What makes this worse is she has shared her fear of storms with Phod. He is now nervous during them. The other night I awoke to 75lb Shepherd laying on top of me. It is going to be a long summer!
