Mischief Monday - Santa Don't Read This

With the countdown to Christmas on, we hate to be reporting mischief, but we must be honest. We are sure Santa is way too busy this week to be blogging anyway.

Mischief one: Blogger. It is not allowing Lady to leave comments. Recently it started doing this thing where she had to sign out, clear the history, sign back in and it would let her comment. Now it will let her in but not comment. She is going to keep trying to figure this out and will have some extra time over the holidays to fight patiently play with it.

Mischief two: Phod!  It is rare for the mischief to be his, but it is. Last week, he refused to bring his disc in. Lady and Man told him, it was going to snow and get lost and it turns out they were right. The next day it snowed and disc was gone. Phod frantically searched the yard for it, but could not find it. He was very upset. Lady and Man could not let him remain so stressed, so while they were in town doing errands, they brought him a new one and gave it to him as an early Christmas gift. He was soooooo excited. Lady and Man are making him bring it in every day so it doesn't get lost too. They said there is a 2 disc limit per season.

Final mischief: Lee's tummy. Seems there is something up with her. Lady and Man had thought it was changing food (although that has never been a problem before and the food was one she had eaten before). They have changed food  again (for a third time back to another food she has eaten before) and are cutting out all treats and extras for a few days to hopefully sort it out. If not it will be a trip to the V-E-T. She seems fine, her appetite and behaviour are normal but without going into details, her poops are not right. A little POTP that she will be all better soon.

POTP For The Man Please

Our Man helping us to pose for our fall photoshop, October 2017

Today the Man is having surgery to remove a lipoma (a benign tumour made of fat) from his thigh. We know his surgery will go well, it is the recover that will be a problem. See the Lady will be responsible for this. The Lady is good and talented at many things and has the patience for sick dogs and children, but nursing adults is not in a strength (and that is putting it nicely). So Man needs POTP that he heals quickly and can escape her nursing and her cooking. (Did we mention the Man keeps the peeps fed. Lady can cook enough she can keep herself alive, and what she can cook is not the Man's favourite. The Man is also a wonderful cook so the peeps are use to fancy dining).

If you could please send some POTP his way, we would greatly appreciate it.

The good news is that for the rest of the week the Man will be resting in bed, and the Lady will be working from home so she can try really hard not to smoother the Man do an excellent job nursing. Then on Friday, Lady's parents and their dog Tendra are arriving for Easter. It is going to be a crazy time. The Man recovering, our Big Guy with his limitation from his illness in 2016, Grandma, and 4 dogs. Lady says it is a good thing she will be able to drink!

We will let you know how it goes tomorrow.

The Week That Was and Some POTP Please

Before going over the recap of my least favourite week this year, I will remind everyone what I do for a living (as it is relevant). I work with individuals with autism. In some cases severe autism. The individuals I am working with are 3-21 currently.

-Monday was fine - I had no idea what the week would bring

-Tuesday - 5 new mice

-Wednesday - one of my pregnant coworkers had a medical emergency at work (fortunately it is a torn ligament in the side and she and the baby will be fine) - a 10 year old sucker punched me in the arm (it sure hurt) - I lost Precious

-Thursday - a 19 year old became aggressive when I wouldn't let him smash a glass door (I know, I am so unreasonable) and spit repeatedly in my face (I would rather get hit any day then get spat on), hit me and shoved me repeatedly against the door. My back was pretty sore Thursday night, but better Friday.

-Friday - we got terrible news.
First, my parents beloved dog Barley, was diagnosed with a tumour in his stomach. He will be kept comfortable and given a lot of love as surgery is not an option that will change the outcome.

Secondly, my 93 year old Grandmother had what they believe was a mild heart attack, and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She will require oxygen from now on.

Then the Man came home with a stomach bug he got from a 2 year old on Wednesday. (He will be fine, but Lady will be grumpy if she gets it).

I ask for some POTP for Barley and Grandmother. May they both be comfortable and not suffer needlessly.

Thinking of Paris

The events that occurred in Paris last night are horrible. I am sending my thoughts to all those affected by these terrible acts.
I know the French are strong and resilient, and will overcome this.
I hope that Hailey's boyfriend Easy's family and friends are safe.
I dream of some day living in a world were this type of thing just doesn't happen.

NaNoWoofMO, Peace and POTP

Today we have a lot going on.

First, we are Blogging for Peace. Thanks to the Nellie in the City for telling us about this. Today we blog for world peace and the peace and health of all our pals (furry and human). There are a lot of people who need good thoughts sent their way. Power of the Paw (POTP)

We want to send special wishes to one special little girl. We are asking everyone to take a moment tomorrow (Wednesday) at 8:20 am to send good wishes to Macey. She is one of Stella Rose, Margaret Mae and Angus from The Three Little Pugs little people. Macey has been having some serious health problems and Wednesday at 8:20 am they are doing some scans. The doctors have given some worrying news, so if you can all send your best wishes to Macey, the family would appreciate it.

Macey - borrowed from Stella Rose's blog - we hope this is ok

I am thrilled to go be participating NaNoWoofMo round robin.

Day 2: http://haikubyku.com/haiku-blog/

Now, chapter 3.

I carefully inspected the fence and quickly realized it was very high and my old bones were not going to make it over. The scent of bacon continued to make my empty stomach growl. (My master's son could have at least fed me before dumping me on the side of the road like a piece of trash). My growling stomach gave me more determination to find a way to that farm house.

I slowly walked down the length of the fence and was excited when I noticed a small hole under one spot of the fence. With a little digging I knew I could make it big enough to slide under. I dug slowly. My old paws could only go so fast. Finally, I had it big enough to slide under. As I was wiggling my body under, I felt a snag on my back. Darn, I had not dug it deep enough and had a small cut. Oh well, I was through and a step closer to bacon.

I trotted up to the farm house, ignoring the stinging pain in my back, sniffing as I went. I smelt a few other dogs, some cats, at least four humans and some other animals I was not familiar with. All the scents smelt friendly so I became more confident and picked up my pace.

Finally, I reached the porch. The smell of bacon was now overwhelming. My aching stomach growled even louder, making me forget about my injury. I realized I had begun to whine. I guess the humans inside the house heard too, because a porch light came on and the side door opened.

For the next chapter visit http://bongodogblog.com tomorrow.

Thanks to Rocco's House for organizing such a fun event!
