3.5 miles

I should be running some "heat of the day" runs, but I just can't bring myself to do them. Maybe I'll try one on Saturday and then another next week while the kids are in school.  :o)  This morning was SO hard for me. John kept me up until 1:00... first by talking... then by tossing and turning... then by snoring - LOUDLY. I finally moved to the couch at 12:30. Then I kept dreaming that we had to plan an escape (we watched "Argo" last night) but John just wanted to hide. I kept waking up to make sure we still "had time". Needless to say when the alarm went off at 5:00 I did not hop out of bed. I laid there until 5:15 just trying to talk myself into going. Well, my whining doesn't stop there... I could not get in the groove. I ran the first 1.25 keeping a 10 minute mile. The next 1.25 I walked. I just could not bring myself to move any faster. Once I got to the top of the monster hill, I ran the good mile and kept a 10 minute mile again. Well, at least I'm done for the day.  John was waiting for me, parked in front of the house when I got home. I was only 6 minutes late!!  :oP   Good thing I ran up the hill to our house instead of walking like I was planning.

4.4 Miles

Not the greatest time this morning, but at least I got up and out.  :o)  That's all that matters, right? I got home just as John was getting out of the shower. He asked why I was home so early... I was just done.

It was a nice run though. I could still smell the rain from last night. It was heavenly. Kind of chilly when I started, but I warmed up pretty fast.  :o)  Hummm... not much else to report. Only 10 more days until the relay. That makes me a little nervous. I may not have the most miles in or the best time but at least I have the shirts done... the most important thing.  :o)

8.6 Miles

I was going to do just a short run this morning... but John's snoring woke me up at 5:00, so that's when I got up. I figured that since I was up and John was going fishing, I'd do a long-ish run. The weather was perfect. It was warm, but there was a slight breeze. I stopped a few times for a potty break and for a drink, but overall I kept a pretty good pace. I averaged about a 10:45 min mile.

I was running down one of the main roads at 6:00 and they were already starting construction. The big tractors were already going.  :oP  I'm so glad I'm far from that. That would make me pretty grumpy to hear heavy machinery going at 6:00 A.M.

6.5 Miles

It is hard getting back on track after vacation. I've had a hard time getting back on a good and healthy diet. I had Samantha come over for a sleepover and movie Monday night at 10:00... I ate junk food like a teenager... at 10:30 at night!! Old ladies like me are NOT suppose to do that!!

I finally ran this week. I've been having so much fun with Chy and her girls... sleepovers...late nights... more sleepovers... I could not bring myself to wake up early, but this morning I didn't give myself a choice. I knew I had to do it. I'm actually really proud of my time. My first mile and a half,  I kept a 9:45 minute mile. I walked/ran for the next mile (up the monster hill) then I ran the good mile home... keeping a 9:45 again. I got home right at 6:30 and John was STILL in the shower. In fact, he'd just gotten in. I guess he's regretting staying up with Gracen and Claire for a movie last night. So I left and went out for another mile. Nothing spectacular. But I did sprint down past Butterfield park. It was awesome. The sunrise in front of me... a slight breeze... it was lovely. Too bad my lungs gave up on me. I was averaging 6:15 coming down that road.  :o)  YEA ME!! I did have to slow it down when I got just past the middle school field... my lungs just could NOT keep up with me. Bummer. So now I'm trying to figure what I did right yesterday to give me the energy to do that. Maybe guilt of not running earlier this week.  :o)

Songs of the day...
"Can't Hold Us" - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (LOVE this song!! My new favorite... think I listened to it 4 or 5 times this morning)
"Come and Get It" - Selena Gomez (Thanks Elisa for this suggestion)
"Demons" - Imagine Dragons (this is what was playing as I was BOOK'N it down Butterfield)

6.9 Miles

I could not go an extra .10 of a mile this morning. I don't know if it was the 3 pieces of pizza I had for dinner last night, or the fact that I stayed up too late, but I could NOT get a good pace this morning. Again, I had every intention of going 7 miles... I guess I got close enough.  :o)  I need a nap now. I haven't had a 5 hour energy since AF Canyon... I guess I may need to break them out for 7 miles or more. I'm dragging!! I walked quite a bit this morning, but I did keep my pace under an 11 minute mile. Not great, but not bad.

5.5 Miles

I had every intention of going 7 miles this morning. I woke up at 5:00...I hurried and got out the door... at about mile 2 I realized that I forgot gum. Gum?!? Really? Apparently I can't run without it.  :o)  So after 2.5 miles I went home and got some. I didn't do too bad I guess. My knee hurt this morning, so I walked quite a bit... not quite the 7 miles I'd hoped for, but at least I got up and got going. The sunrise was beautiful this morning. Made me glad I was out to enjoy it.

5 Miles

It felt good to be on the road again. I have NO serious plans or vacations, so I'm hoping for an actual FULL week of running. Ok, not every day... but at least 3-4 time.  :o)  It was hard to peel myself out of bed this morning. I had so much fun at my family reunion this weekend. Lots of good food, late nights and conversations, it's hard getting back to a normal schedule. Nothing spectacular to report... the sunrise was beautiful.  :o)

4.75 Miles

This morning was lovely. Totally overcast and humid...in fact I felt like I was running through the raindrops. I kept seeing them hit the sidewalk, but I only felt a few. I kept waiting for a downpour, but no such luck. It was weird to feel the humidity, especially because we're in Utah. All, in all it was lovely. My knee still hurt a little, but nothing I couldn't handle. I may try taping it next week, see if that will help. Not much else to report... I woke up early... I ran the usual route... I'm now ready for a nap.  :o)

3.3 Miles

I wish I had something to write about this morning. I went out... I ran... my iPod died... I walked home. I did keep a pretty good pace until they music went out. It's amazing how much changed when the music when out. I was keeping up with the beat, then when it stopped, and I did too.

Songs of the day:
"One More Night" - Maroon 5
"On Top of the World" - Imagine Dragon... what a happy little song to run along to while you're watching at the sun rise.  :o)

4.15 Miles

Horse fly bites, socks and running DO NOT MIX!!  I have 3 or 4 horse fly bites on the sides of my foot... I nearly lost my mind while I was running this morning! I can't believe how hot it's been in the morning. 78˚ when I left the house at 5:30. It's going to be a warm one today. Not much else to report. Only 36 more days until Epic! I need to figure out what to do with my knee and get some miles in.
