3 Miles

I went out with some friends to do "speed work" this morning... mine was more of a "mind over matter" work-out. I had a hard time getting my groove. My friend drug us over to the High School to run on the track. OK... so she didn't really drag us, all she had to do was text and I was ready to go.  :o)  John teases her that she could talk an "Eskimo out of their underwear" if she can get me up and running at 5:00 am.  :o)  It was actually pretty nice. My legs are a little sore from Monday's run, but I sprinted a bit and did some stairs. 228 stairs going up and 228 going down. Now we'll see if I can walk later today.

9.3 Miles

Ahhh...everything's better after you run. I had a VERY rough day yesterday, so I had a good cry last night and told John all my frustrations about the day. Then I ran 9.3 miles this morning. My dad drove me to the top of Snow Canyon and I ran from the top down to the main road, then over to my parents. It was BEAUTIFUL! Kept about an 11 min mile. Just lovely.

Yes...I took pictures while I ran. :-) I had my phone with me... just in case.

6 Miles

Another beautiful run down the canyon. We left earlier this morning... one of the ladies had to be to work at 6:30... but I think she slept in. She never met up with us. It was a little chilly, but nice. we kept a steady pace 12:30 down the canyon (some walking) and half way to the Elementary school (no walking), then I had to head home so John could leave to work. I tried to pick up the pace a little... well, got the minutes per mile up to 12:20.  :o)  I run better in the morning. Yesterday I felt so sluggish and sore... felling A LOT better this morning.

5 Miles

5 miles exactly! :o)  Not my best day... I didn't go until 1:00 in the afternoon. I think I do my best in the morning. I walked a lot of those 5 miles. The weather was nice... kind of on the windy side, but not horrible. Some motorcycle cops (who have been practicing for local parades at the equestrian park)  whistled at me with their sirens... that made me laugh. I also almost ran over a snake... it was sunning itself on one of the trails I take. Scared me to death!! It was about 3 feet long and not happy at me after I kicked it to see if it was alive. That got my blood pumping for the last mile. :o)  Well... I hope I can get going this weekend... get some miles in.

5.9 Miles

I think my Garmin was off... at one point it said I was keeping an average of a 9.2 minute mile. Could that really be right?!? YEA ME if it is.  :o)  I felt like I could have kept going this morning. No wind. Beautiful sunrise. Alone on the road... PERFECT! Mornings like this make me love waking up early and running.

4.5 Miles

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE summer mornings! I drove up Rose Canyon this morning with some friends and we ran down it. It was just BEAUTIFUL! I've been having really sharp pains in my stomach all week and (here's a little TMI...) spending a lot of time in the bathroom, so I haven't even wanted to run. But we'd planned this run on Sunday, so I felt like I couldn't back out. It felt good to be outside. The ladies kept joking that I should have at least brought some toilet paper... "just in case".  :o)  But there were no problems... no doubling over pains... just good running.  :o)   We kept a pretty good pace the whole time. LOVED IT!! I miss it when I don't go.

5.7 Miles

Another beautiful early morning. I almost didn't go... I really had to psych myself up this morning. John was snoring like a chainsaw, so my decision was a little easier. I ran about half my usual route, and ran into a friend... so I turned around and ran her route with her and finished STRONG. She's my "enforcer"... no walking until we run up some serious hills. Lots of up hills.

Now it's hit me that I'm tired. I wonder if a small nap is in my future?  :o)

5.7 miles ~ ?? on time... just know I got home by 6:30!

4.75 Miles

Have I mentioned how excited I am for summer? Mornings are amazing and peaceful. I ran with a friend this morning. It sure made time go by faster... and she pushed me harder. I still walked (talking the whole time) but when we ran, we ran farther than we would have alone. We did 4.75 miles in just under an hour. Tuesday I ran on the balls of my feet. Boy I was feeling it yesterday. So I ran "normal" today... much better. It felt good.

As I was running up the hill to get home, John drove up behind me just as I got to the top (scared me a little)... I guess he decided to get up early this morning and said he'd waited long enough. He drove around the block hoping to see me out and about. Oops!

5.8 Miles

Ahhhh... summer is coming! I'm back outside! (as long as it's not too windy) It get's light at 6:00 now... who knew!  :o) What a beautiful morning. Still having a hard time feeling like I've stretched my legs enough. Maybe it's a mental thing, but I feel like I'm stopping a lot to do an extra stretch on my calves. So far, the shin splints are gone. HIP HIP HOORAY!! I think I kept a pretty good pace. Especially running up by Butterfield Park (a 1.5 mile gradual hill). I actually kept up with a guy that passed me while stretching (sure I was a few paces behind him, but I kept that distance the whole 1.5 miles... yea me!!) I ran up Muirwood this morning too... HOLY COW!! I'm going to need a nap!

9:00am Update... Gracen (who usually sleeps until 9:30) had a sleepover with Bugga last night and THIS is the morning that Carson (who's up at 7 AM every morning) decides to sleep in.  He's still not up! Oh well... I'm up and showered now.

4.75 Miles

It felt good to be out on the road again. It was a little chilly, but LOVELY! The compression socks helped again... plus I finally broke down and bought some new shoes. That may have helped too. I'm going to keep the socks on for a while... just to make sure they're doing their job.  :o)  It felt good to not have to take Advil all day yesterday. Finger's are crossed that the shin splints are gone, or at least on their way out.

4 Miles

Well, I finally hit the Rec Center this morning. Taking a week off and then trying to get back into it is HORRIBLE. I guess I kept thinking I would be ok, that I'd be able to just start running again... I walked pretty much the whole time. I did wear my pretty pink compression sleeves. We'll see if they had any affect on my pitiful shins. I went into buy shoes yesterday and my favorite shoe guy was there. I told him what my problem was and he told me to get inserts. So I did. I took out my insoles and put them in when I got home and wore them around the house... TERRIBLE!! I felt like I was 3 inches taller and busting out of my shoes. So... I'm not sure what to do. I'd really like to go to the Salt Lake Running Company and get an analysis done, but I just cannot afford their shoes. I'm really hoping these sleeves work. I kept dreaming last night that I was talking to different people about how to get rid of these shin splints. I'm just so tired of them!
