It's getting lighter earlier!! THAT MEANS SUMMER IS COMING!! The weather this weekend has been so heavenly... I'm sure it'll snow again, because we live in Utah and that's just what it does here. :o) I totally wanted to stay in bed this morning. I've been so exausted the last few days... I may have to schedule a nap today. OK... back to running...it was a really nice morning. Weather was perfect! I ran my new "I-feel-stong" route. I kept my pace around 11:40. You know, I'm always so proud of myself if I keep a pace that's under 12, then I find out that my friend does 12 miles at a 9 min pace. :o/ Maybe I need to set my sights a little higher. "If you always do what you've always done... you'll always get what you've always got"... or something like that. I just don't know if my legs work that fast. :o) I guess I could at least try.

4.5 Miles
It was all I could do to get my tired behind out of bed this morning. This mornings run was not necessarily for the training, but for all the junk I'll probably eat. I'm off for a "stay-cation" with the "Sarah's". Ok, it was for training too. :o) I even tried to go to bed early last night... no such luck. Back to today's run... I kept a good pace. For the first 2 miles I kept an 10:45 minute mile... then I slowed down quite a bit... ended at with an 11:30 minute mile. Not bad.

7.5 Miles
6:30 am - I did a quick 2 miles this morning... hoping that there are NO sick kids today and I can go out again after I help in Gracen's class and when Carson's still at preschool. I HAVE TO GET IN A LONG RUN THIS WEEK. Ok, so 7 or 8 miles isn't necessarily "long" considering my friend just did 12 for her long run, but she's been running since college, so no comparing. I just need to do it for me. I did my route that I did the other day. I think I like running up those hills. :o) Makes me feel tough. Now to plan the other route to make me feel equally as tough.
11:30 UPDATE - I made it out with a friend to finish my "long run". It wasn't a route that I felt tough on, but I did run longer and ran up hills further than I would have alone. The lady I went with is a machine! I like running with her...sure make time go by faster than we thought. And the sun.... ahhhh!! LOVED IT!! I'm ready for Utah to stop with the cold and move onto spring. :o)

3.4 Miles
I gave myself the day off yesterday. :o) I just could NOT peel
myself out of bed. My alarm went off and I just shut it off. So, I
decided that today would be a light day so I could do a long run
tomorrow. The weather's suppose to be nice. Thursday would be better,
but too much going on that day. Anyway I decided to take a different
route this morning. Instead of running down the hills for the "good
mile" I ran up the hills. I actually did pretty good. I ran 90% of that
mile...keeping a pretty good pace too. Coming home was another story.
:oP I did try and run .25 and then walk .25... it's up a very long and
steady hill. Blah, blah, blah... good run today, long run tomorrow.
Oh, I never wrote about my scary story on Friday. So I'm running my regular route when I see one of my neighbors leaving her house for work. I noticed that her front porch light is on, so I look over at her house and there is a VERY tall person in a black cloak standing on the porch facing the door. My heart jumped and I ran a little faster...because her husband is a very tall man... not that it would be him or anything. He's really nice. I'm sure it was one of the boys from church playing a joke on the husband (who teaches those boys at church), but it scared me so bad, I kept checking behind me to make sure it wasn't following me. Then I had a nightmare Sunday night that the tall man in a cloak was in my house and wouldn't let me leave. I was trying to leave on a run, and he was blocking the door. I guess I woke up screaming... woke John up too. :o/ So that's one of the reasons I ran up the street, instead of down it on my regular route this morning. I was scared it'd still be out there. :oP Silly I know.

4.6 Miles
I had every intention on doing a "long" run this morning. Too much came up and that didn't happen... still feeling frustrated about how far I went, but it's done. I'll have to do a long run next week.

3 Miles
I just did a quick one this morning. I had such a hard time getting out of bed. I even went to sleep at 9:00 last night. But when the alarm went off I had the old conversation in my head about whether or not I should get up. :oP I tried out my "fast" shoes... not as fast as they look. :o) They did kind of glow... I guess that's what they mean by florescent. :o) They worked a whole new group of muscles. We'll see how my legs feel later today. Not too fast, but I kept it just under a 12 minute mile.

4.75 Miles
Brrrrr! It was so cold this morning. I'm writing fast so I can go soak in a warm tub and get my jammies back on! It was about 32˚ when I left "real feel" of 27˚ with a icy breeze from the north that just cut to the bone. Brrrrr! I didn't do too good today. I did run up a few hills that I usually walk, but I guess my walking was slower than usual... you'd think I'd be faster in the cold. I did my first mile in 9 1/2 minutes, I guess it went down hill from there. My average at the end was 12.15 min mile. :o( Oh well... I got in almost an hour this morning.

4.25 Miles
Last night, before I set my alarm, I thought about all the stuff I'd eaten this weekend... I feel like I ATE EVERYTHING. So I set my alarm for 5:15. I told myself that if it was windy, raining hard, or below 29˚ I'd go back to bed. Well my alarm went off... no wind, no rain, about 1" of snow on the grass, but 36˚... so I got up and went. :o) It was nice. Chilly, but nice. I always try and get home by 6:30, so John can get to work... it's almost 6:45 and he's still in the shower. Grrrr! I could have gone longer! Oh well... I did what I could.

4 Miles
I feel like I'm back! I've got the running bug again and I'm excited!
I thought I was done... burned out... old and decrypted. :o) But I
guess I'm not... at least I'm not burned out. Again not my fastest day,
but I did pretty good. And if felt good. My legs are sore, but a
different sore... a good sore... a sore form pushing myself.

5.4 Miles
I'm singing that song from "Oklahoma!"... Oh what a beautiful morning! So, I decided to keep shoe #1 and #2... alternate them. Maybe I won't have to buy shoes for a YEAR instead of 5-6 months. :o) I wore the turquoise ones this morning. They felt great! My shins feel good and that's what matters. I'm hoping these will save me from the pain. WOO HOO!!

3 Miles
I hit the treadmill this morning. Just to get my legs warmed up for
tomorrow. June 15th is coming up fast and I need to get in some miles! I
just couldn't bring myself to go out in the cold yesterday OR today.
FREEZING!! So, slapped on my new shoes and got on the treadmill... with a
little Harry Potter to keep me company. :o) I didn't run... just
walked. Felt pretty good.

4 Miles and SHOES!!
OK... so I'm having a REALLY hard time deciding on shoes. I've been shopping around for a few days now... different stores, reading reviews, looking for a "good deal". This is what I came home with... 4 shoes (one did not make the cut) with the intent to run and test them out for real. Not just jogging up and down the isles of the stores. :oP
SHOE #1- Sketchers GOrun2 - $75
I ran 1.25 miles in these on the treadmill. I want these to work SO BAD. First of all they're cute. They make my feet look fast. :o) Second They are comfortable and they didn't hurt when I wore them, but they tend to work different muscles. I noticed that the back of my thighs were feeling it (which might be good on my tush). They're SUPER light and feel good on my arch. Lots of room around my toes... stretchy toe box I'll say.
SHOE #2 - Saucony Grid Propel Plus 2 - $70
I ran 1.5 miles on the treadmill in these. THESE ARE JUST LIKE MY OLD SHOES!! I found them!! In color! Turquoise and they have an Orange pair too. But (and yes, there is a but), my feet have gotten used to more room around my toes. These aren't necessarily tight, but they were snug. I'm sure they'll stretch out the more I wear them. I like the heel support and I feel like I'm running naturally. They have a lot of cushion around my feet and are comfortable overall. I do notice their weight...especially after running in shoe #1.
SHOE #3 - Saucony Grid Cohesion 6 - $50
I ran 1.25 miles on the treadmill in these too. Nothing really stood out in these shoes. They were comfortable and didn't really work my muscles differently. Like the other Saucony shoes I noticed that the toe box isn't narrow, but it's not roomy like my other shoes have been.
Any comments? Suggestions?

3.75 Miles
The sun in St. George didn't get me running. I wanted to, but hiking and swimming with the kiddos took first priority. :o)
I did make it out today... GORGEOUS!! Tank top weather again. Loved feeling the sun. Didn't do too bad, not too good either. I went 3.75 miles while Carson was at school. My shins did pretty good, but my calves had a hard time getting warmed up and kept cramping up. I guess I'm just getting old. Things just aren't working the way I want them to. I should have started this years ago!! I went to look for new shoes AGAIN. Those shoes I got five months back are already worn... it feels like I'm running with rocks in my shoes. I guess they have about 250 miles on them. I went and tried on a bunch of shoes and found one I like... $110. YIKES!! I know, I know... there are more expensive shoes, but that's a lot of cash for something I'll have to replace in 6 months. NUTS!! I guess I just need to bite the bullet and do it.
