3 Away From 30!

April 19th was my 27th birthday. I can't believe that in 3 short years I will be turning 30! I don't feel like I'm close to 30...but then again, what should that feel like?

This year was a very kick back birthday. It was nice. We went out to dinner with some friends for an early b-day outing, had another dinner with David's family, and then had a lunch with my mom on my actual birthday. I'm feeling pretty good and can't wait for another 27 (or more!) birthdays. :)

(Lilies are my favorite flowers. David got this from Beaverton Bakery. It was a banana cake and it was sooo goood!!!)

Keeping Quiet Around Little Ears

Our second car has quit working (we think it's the battery) so David has been taking the Jeep to work every day. Yesterday, I needed to get some errands done so I packed up the kids and took him to work in the morning. As we were going to pick him up from work at the end of the day, I was going to switch lanes so I could make my turn. I put my blinker on and everything. The woman in the other lane was just far enough beside me, but behind me (if that makes sense) to where I couldn't move over and the car in front of her was just far enough to where I couldn't speed up and squeeze in. There just wasn't any room. I tried to speed up so that she could see that I had my blinker on and needed to get over, but she was obviously in her own little world. Needless to say, I missed my turn. As we were driving past it, I very loudly said to myself, "AH! STUPID LADY!!" Gabriel asked "oh, stupid lady?" and I said back to him, "no, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that." and then changed the subject. When we got closer to his work, we came to a 4-way stop. When I thought it was my turn to go, I did. But it wasn't my turn. The car to the left of me that I didn't see, went also. We didn't hit, but it was close. When that happened, again, I said to myself out loud "holy cow! that could have been bad!" The next thing I know I hear, "that lady stupid? she stupid mom?" I then explained that she was not stupid and that we don't say that word (anymore). :) I really need to watch my mouth around Gabriel. Especially when I drive!!

Easter

For the past month, someone in my family, if not all of us, has been sick. I was so hoping that everyone would get over it by the time Easter arrived and it almost happened. Gabriel is still coughy and has a runny nose and Angelina is still a little congested. David is getting over an upper respiratory infection and I just got over some kind of stomach bug. So, I was the only one who went to church yesterday. After church we headed over to my moms to have a great lunch and a fun Easter egg hunt with all the cousins. After a few hours of lots of playing, we ventured over to David's aunts house for a really good dinner and another Easter egg hunt for Gabriel. (All the cousins on that side of the family are in Utah and California. We missed you Rubio, Isabel, Sammy, Fabio, and Leo! Oh yeah, and your parents:)) He loved looking for all the eggs. After he did it at my moms, he knew exactly what to do for round two. SO, after the Easter bunny came and two Easter egg hunts, we have a ridiculous amount of candy. It was a very busy day but everyone had such a great time.

This is worse than Halloween was! Not to mention I just bought about 6 candy bars from my nephew to help him out with Scouts!!

We also colored eggs a few days ago. Gabriel was more interested in the stickers that came in the box than coloring the eggs.

Impressive

Gabriel has been on this kick where he likes to play with our PS3 and XBox game cases. His favorite one to carry around is Sonic The Hedgehog. Today he had them all spread out on our couch and when I told him it was time to clean up and put them away, this was how the conversation went...

Me: Gabriel, it's time to put the games away back on the shelf.

Gabriel: Oh, back on the shelf?

Me: Yep.

Gabriel: Ok mommy. (then proceeds to put them away) And this one, too? (holding up Sonic)

Me: Are you going to put Sonic away?

Gabriel: Yeah, I put Sonic away.

Me: (under my breath) Wow! I'm impressed!

Gabriel: Yeah, I'm impressed too. (with a big smile on his face)

It's just so funny what kids say and how well they hear...when they want to. I've been smiling about it all day. :)
