Snowy Sunday

When I woke up this morning, the ground was pretty 'bone dry'. I thought to myself, Well - the weather man was wrong once again. (it was supposed to snow) About an hour goes by and I see really small flurries here and there and even a little bit of white on areas of the ground. Maybe the weather man won't be wrong after all...

Last Saturday - a week ago from yesterday - we went to go get our tree. It was a gorgeous day but pretty chilly. Right when we get to the tree farm, we spot two really good looking trees. I told David to keep looking because there might be one even better! The more we looked, the less we found. :) I told David that from now on, we're going with the first good one we see. No matter what I say. I felt bad for him. We never could find those nice ones at the beginning. But we did find a great one! It just took longer.

He found a bug and thought that was the greatest thing he'd ever done.

Christmas tree 08 007

We brought it home, got it nice and straight in the stand and came to find out that more than half of our strands of lights don't work! We weren't able to go get more, so the tree has been sitting in our living room completely bare this entire week! The lights that we put on our tree are the white ones. We had gotten some small colored ones to put up on a tree outside and decided to just use those on the indoor tree.

So, back to this morning...

We put the lights on the tree along with our ornaments and now it's more complete. :) Gabriel got to hang up all of our bells, and let me tell you, they are all nicely put at the very bottom of the tree...the majority in just one spot. I love it.

After the tree was done there was more snow on the ground so we bundled up and went outside for some tasty snow. G$ LOVED to eat the snow. Kira always loves it. She plays just like a little kid. We weren't out there for too long...Gabriel gets cold and then gets really upset. He started to cry after about a half hour, so we came in and made hot cocoa. Church was canceled, too. We all got to take nice long naps. (our church schedule is the 1:30-4:30...AWEFUL time! but we live...so our naps were much appreciated today)

The snow has yet to stop. It's so pretty. And going back to what I'm thankful for...I'm definitely thankful for HEAT!

5 Years!...And Still Counting

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Today is mine and David's 5 year anniversary. Man, I can't believe it. I love that our time together is so fun and so great that it just flies by. We had the whole night last night (and this morning) to ourselves, so we went out to dinner at the Brazil Grill. Thank you to Auntie Reese for letting him spend the night! It was SOOOO nice to sleep in! Anyway, we were going to go somewhere 'fancy', but really, we don't need to. We could use the money for other things (like our house). And the B.G. has fantastic food. MEAT! We both love our meat. It's a meat lovers paradise. Anyway, enough about meat and back to our great 5 years together. ;) Honey, I still love you more now than when we got married. I love laughing, crying, fighting, and growing with you. Thanks for being my best friend.

Zoo 'Yites'

This last Monday we went to the zoo to see their Christmas 'yites' and ride the train. Our friend Jayme came along and we met up with my sister Lindsey and her family and some of her friends.

I think Gabriel's best time was on the way there. We rode the MAX and he thought that was great. At first, David sat by the window and Gabriel was right beside him. Then he lifted Gabriel onto his lap so that he would be able to look out the window. Gabriel would not have it. He wanted to sit in his very own seat just like a big boy. Needless to say, David switched seats with him so Gabriel was in his own seat by the window. That was the most still I've ever seen him.

Here they are waiting for MAX.

These are just some of the displays of lights...my camera really stinks, so these are not that great. But you can kind of make out the tiger, the zebras (kinda funny...a little Nat Geo picture for ya), the elephants, the snake, and the train that we rode.

Some other fun shots of G$ all bundled up, and having fun with Auntie Lala, cousin Kylie, daddy, and Jayme.

It was pretty cold so the night didn't last very long. We made the rounds and quickly grabbed an elephant ear (yum!) and then left. The lights were cool and we all had a lot of fun. I think we'll do it again next year.

Sleeping Better

Just a quick note: Gabriel fell asleep about 10 o'clock and slept ALL NIGHT and woke up at 7:30.  We got some good sleep. :)

Is This Normal???

I am so tired! Last night Gabriel woke up at 1 o'clock and decided to stay awake until about 3:15. Not just awake, but fighting me the whole time because he didn't want to go back to bed. I even tried laying him in bed with David and me, but that didn't work. Then he woke up again at 5:45 and then again at 7:30. I can deal with 7:30, but not 5:45. That's still too early. ESPECIALLY when I was just up with him for 2 hrs. I got so mad. I feel I kept my calm with him, but inside I was fuming! He wakes up every night. Not always for that long and not always that often. But at least once. I kept saying (to myself and once to David) that I'm so sick of this! He's 2 YEARS old! Not 2 MONTHS old! What is the problem??? It's bad enough that I already wake up through out the night with wicked heartburn or the urge to pee....I don't need to fight with my 2 year old too. I can already tell I'm going to be very impatient with him today. UGH!

'Tis The Season

Last night David put up the Christmas lights on our house with our good friend Robert. It was so fun to watch them. They did a fantastic job! The only problem that they ran into was there were too many strands and the outlet couldn't handle it. So they had to run to the store to get another extension cord and start at the other end of the house and try to make the lights meet in the middle. They did great. You can't even tell. It all blends in together. (I don't have a picture of the finished house because my camera died.)

David had a little helper that followed him EVERYWHERE! It was kind of hard for him to do the lights at first... :)

Robert, looking thrilled to be here... Thanks for your help! (he had a good time)

After they were done, and Robert left, David came inside and we just sat by the fire looking out at our lights and talking. Poor Gabriel was too tired, he fell asleep before they were done. He'll see them soon enough. David was so giddy. This is the first time he's ever put lights on a house, and he did it for the first time on his first house. Although it was fun to put the lights in the windows at our apartment, this was much more fun for him. He said it made him totally in the Christmas mood.

Gabriel loves to ride around and look at all the pretty 'yites'. So  now that we have our own up, it'll be fun to watch his reaction when he sees them for the first time tonight. Next week I think we'll go see the Zoo lights and ride the train. He'll be in heaven!
