Going Back In Time

My cousin had this up on her blog and I thought it looked so fun. So here I am back in 1972 with a great hair do. I think it's funny. :)
Here's David back in 1968. What a hottie! I love it!!

Fresh Paint And New Floors Go A Long Way

Ok, I've got a couple of pictures of my living room to show off. When we bought the house, this is what it looked like. Not too bad, right? The curtains had TONS of cat hair or dog hair all over them, so they definitely had to go! The carpet all through out the house was saturated in dog urine, so it ALL had to go. This is what we decided to do...

BEFORE
AFTER
Pretty crazy huh? We are so in love with our wood floors and think that this room looks great! Once we get some furniture in here, it'll look even better. I'm thinkin' a nice area rug, a couple of nice chairs, a coffee table, and we're good to go. :) That'll all take a while. Gotta save, save, save a bunch of money that we don't have anymore. I know, I know. "Welcome to home ownership." So everyone says. :) That's ok. I'm so happy with what I've got.

You Can Change Alot In One Year

But you can also look alot the same. Just thought I'd post a picture of Gabriel at 1 year old, and at 2 years old. Man, he looks like such a little boy! A handsome one at that, too. :) I'm a little biased.

Gabriel Turns 2!

Ok, so he turned 2 last month. August 21st. We haven't had a birthday party for him because of how insane things have been with having to move. Now that we've moved, our house is still under construction, and it's been almost an entire month. Is it too late for a party?? I feel awefull that he's been totally jipped this year. We did have a great little birthday celebration while camping with my family the weekend of his birthday and then a small get together with David's family. But nothing with any of his friends. The weather is still nice so I could pull something together really soon at a park or something...Uhhh. Who knows. Does he? Think he'll remember his 2nd birthday and how there was no party for him? Probably not. Not unless 15 years from now he reads this. Anyway, I finally got his 2 year pictures taken. (Thanks for taking such great pictures Jayme!!!) He looks SO different from just one year ago. Much more like a little boy and
not a baby.

Gabriel has been such a blessing in our lives. He is deffinetly a MONSTER that knows how, and when to push our buttons, but he never fails to leave a smile on our faces every day. Here's to a great year of terrible two's, temper tantrums...but most importantly, lots and lots of laughs. :) G-money, you're the best thing that's happened to us. We love you!

Just Eat It!

Gabriel has been on this kick lately where he always wants to eat, but never finishes anything! Weather it be a piece of toast, a banana, sandwich, whatever...he'll eat all but the last two or three bites. He'll shove the whole last of it in his mouth to where he can't really chew, and then he'll walk around with his mouch open saying "uh, uh, uh" until I get the garbage can out so he can spit it out. Then wants something else. Kind of annoying! It's in your mouth already, so just eat it!!

Ramen, My Old Friend, I've Missed You

When I was a little girl, we ate Top Ramen quite a bit. Over the years it's faded into an old, almost forgotten, memory. In college I didn't even eat very much Ramen. And when I got married, we definitely didn't eat Ramen. David hates Ramen. If he has to eat "poor man's food", it's going to be beans and rice. He says it's more healthy for you. (ok, it is) Anyway, a few weeks ago I had a strong craving for chicken flavored Ramen. I didn't buy it and the craving didn't go away either. So I walked over to the store and bought 2 small packages of it, came home and made it and it was soooo good! David thinks I'm crazy. Since we've moved into our house, we've had lots of beans and rice and I've had lots of Ramen. :) Gotta say, I still haven't gotten sick of it. I hope I'm not saying this too soon...

And Now, What You've All Been Waiting For!

I have some pictures to show of some befores and afters! I'll do my kitchen first. Keep in mind that my pictures are from my cell phone, so they're not the greatest. But they work!

My kitchen before...

What was done: Knobs taken off and cabinets painted. New knobs put back on. Heavy cleaning inside and out of all the cabinets, fridge, sink, and oven. New tile floor. New dishwasher. And fresh paint on the walls. (I hope I didn't leave anything out...counter tops will be done when we get our first tax return! :) Right now they're an ugly marbly purple.)

My kitchen after. It feels so good to be able to say that one of my rooms is completely finished! Except, I still need a new microwave...The one that came with the house works, but does not heat anything up. Other than that, IT'S DONE!

Now, here's the back yard. These before and after pics are CRAZY!

My back yard before. What was done: A lot of back breaking work! Lots of weeding. Sawing down about 3 or 4 trees. Mowing the "lawn"...twice. Trimming of all the trees and bushes. And a little bit of fertilizing and watering.
My back yard after.

These two stumps still need taken out...

The yards, both front and back, still need a lot of TLC. We're doing what we can for now, and hoping for the best next spring/summer. I wish I had a before shot of my front yard, but I don't. The grass has come back so lush and green already! It looks really good.

I hope these have been entertaining. I know they have for me. :) I'm still working on organizing the bedrooms before I take after pictures. They look like bombs went off in them. Still lots to do. New baseboards, switching all the doors to white and all the handles from brass to silver. Then just touching up with putting furniture in place and decorating from there. Hopefully I'll have more to show after this weekend!
