Love Thy Brother
I just had to write a little something about the best younger brother anyone could ever have. My poor brother gets asked to do EVERYTHING from everyone in my family. Moving? Call David for help. Need a baby sitter? Call David. Run out of gas or get locked out of your house? David to the rescue! Run out of ideas for dinner and need a cheap pizza? Call David. So who did I call to help move a piano today? David!
We have had a piano in a garage at our old apartments for the past 2 1/2 years that we kept there for who knows what reason. Why it didn't get moved when we moved into our house, I have no idea. Or at least, I forgot the reason. It was my late grandmas piano brought to Oregon from Colorado years back that David had insisted on keeping in the family. (no one, at the time, was very interested in keeping it.) After seeing the piano, he thought it was ugly and had changed his mind. He didn't want it any more. So it just sat in our garage. Well, we haven't lived there for a few months now and really needed to get it out of that garage. His boss had given him 2 weeks to figure out what he was going to do with it. A month and a half later, it's still there. At this time I had changed my mind too. Now I do want it. Sure it's not gorgeous but it would be fun to have. I could take up piano again. No, he doesn't want it. That's fine. I don't care. Now it's crunch time. If it's not out of the garage today, it's getting tossed in the garbage tomorrow. Crap! My mom said not to toss it, that she was wanting it if nothing else. My sister wants it but doesn't have room for it until she gets a house. So I decide to just do it myself. I get the U-HAUL and make sure it's taken to my moms. But who was really the star of the show? DAVID! I called him and asked if he'd be willing to help and he said, sure, no big deal. So I pick him up and we get the truck and head back to the apartment garage where he, husband David and a couple of other guys helped load it into the truck. We didn't have any ties to tie it down, so it was laid on its back. All of those other guys went back to work and it was just Brother Dave and me to haul it away. When we got to my moms, she was there and had made room for it in her garage. Now, the fun part. To get it out of the truck. Just David, me, and my mom. I'm 9 months pregnant and can't lift anything. My mom is pretty tough, but still, can't lift a piano. David would have to do it all. He tried to call my older brother to see if he would be able to help, but he was at work, I'm sure, and wasn't able to get a hold of. Sure enough, David T.A.C.K.L.E.D that piano. I couldn't believe it. Brother Dave, you are a ROCK STAR and I am so grateful to have you for my brother. A brother so willing to take time out of his day, last minute!, to help me out. And you didn't complain about it once. I love you so much. Thanks for coming to my rescue every time I've needed you to.

Christmas With The Dias' (part 3 of 3)
(This is a long one with lots of pictures)
Christmas morning. David and I woke up about 7:20. We thought it was so strange that Gabriel was still sleeping since he's been such an early bird lately. But seeing as how the night before was Christmas Eve, we were partying with family, so it probably wore him out! So we got the living room in order and exchanged stockings. Gabriel ended up waking up about 8 o'clock or shortly after (probably because we opened his door and weren't so quiet when doing things around the house). We were so excited though. We couldn't wait for him to wake up and if we were to go and actually wake him up ourselves, he would have been in a foul mood. :)
This is what we saw when we peaked in his room...
Our first Christmas in our first house!
When Gabriel finally woke up we all gathered on the couch and had him go through his stocking first to see what kind of goodies Santa had brought to him. Yes, there were some 'CARS' in there. Santa's pretty smart!
He then found his little chair and very carefully sat in it while he opened up his presents one by one. I can't believe how neat he was about opening them up. He would rip off a piece of wrapping paper and before moving on to the next piece or opening the entire thing, he would look up at David or me and hand us the paper. It was too funny!
(I love his face in this picture. Must have been a hard one to open.)
But the reward was a sweet one...
When we were done with our presents, we all got showered and cleaned up for David's parents and brother to come over to start over again.
The story behind this dino is so funny!
Gabriel didn't want to finish opening it. We had to do it for him. When it was completely open, he screamed and cried and would hid behind anyone that would let him. We pet the dinosaur and told Gabriel that is was a nice one, but he would not have it! We had to put it in the other room with the door shut. Grandma felt so bad, I bet she could have cried too. She thought she was getting him something great! But he was so afraid.
The next day he was ok with the door being open.
Day 3 - he was ok with being in the same room as it.
Day 4 - he was ok with touching it and putting it's "food" in its mouth.
Day 5 - he didn't really have a choice because some other kids came over and turned it on, so he was ok with it being on.
Day 6 - he finally climbed on it.
He hasn't stopped playing with it since. So really, she did get him something great! He loves it.
Back to Christmas! After we were done with David's parents, we headed over to his Aunts and Uncles house where the entire family was gathering. We had dinner and again, exchanged gifts, and ended the night playing cards. (The game is called Burraco, and David and I won! Just had to add that in there)
I expected it to be a little more hectic. But all in all, it was nice and pretty relaxing.

Christmas With The Dias' (part 2 of 3)
Christmas Eve was our next get together. This time with my mom. All 22 of us crammed snuggly into her little town home, ate some great finger foods and had a great time. One of the fun parts of the night was when we got to open our gifts from my mom. She got all of us (and our families) gray hoodies with our last names on them...
My sister April and nephew Garett
My brother-in-law Scott
My brother Jesse and nephew Cole
My brother-in-law Chris and niece Kylie
Me, David, and Gabriel
The place she got them from didn't have a hoodie small enough for G$, so he got a t-shirt. AND she even got a little onsie for our new little one. :) It is so cute!! I've worn my hoodie almost every day since. We love them.
Some fun pictures...David got a bag for hunting that was so big, Gabriel and Simeon climbed in and got zipped up in it. It was funny. :)
This is just a cool icicle that was hanging from the roof of my mom's neighbors. It was H.U.G.E!
We all had a good time, and again, the night was cut shorter than I would have liked, due to the snow. I'm just glad we didn't end up canceling because of it!

Poll
As most of you know we are having another baby in about 16 days! Along with that, you know that we don't like to find out what the gender is. SO! I've set up a little poll off to the right of my blog. I'd love to see what most of you 'predict'!!
(I have noticed that some have already done the poll. It doesn't show who guesses what, so when you do it, also leave a comment saying, so I know who thinks what and we can see who was right! THANKS!)

Christmas with the Dias' (part one)
Here is a picture of our house this Christmas. It was beautiful white this year. The first one in a L.O.N.G. time. I don't really remember having a white Christmas...It was fun.
This is just a picture of our street and how much snow was there. This isn't even when we had the most of it. It was crazy!
Christmas this year was great. Three days of getting together with the family couldn't be better. Well, maybe it could. But only a little. The only thing I would have changed would be how much snow we had. My brothers, sisters, and I got together and spent the afternoon with my dad and his wife on the 20th. He lives in Central Oregon and came up that afternoon to do Christmas with us. Since the snow was so crazy, it took him a while to get here and then he had to take off early to try to beat even more snow. It ended up taking him about 6 hours to get home. (normally about a 3 hr trip) It was a short get together and while it was fun, it was too short. Anyway, we had lunch, hung out, and opened presents. We all pitched in and got my dad Guitar Hero World Tour. So you better believe that there was some battling going on!
As always it was nice to see those guys. It's not too often, so when we do get together, it's always fun.
