Field Trips

I'm part of the field trip committee at Kate's school and I've really enjoyed helping put together fun trips with other parents. We took some *very cold* field trips in February. The first one was to Morrison Nature center. We love this place! And the kids always learn so much!

Part of the field trip was a hike around the property. The kids were troopers even though there was a foot of snow!

A week later we went to the art museum and learned all about ancient Mayan art. James wore his shirt backward the whole time and got several comments about how 'artistic' he looked.

Because it was near Valentine's Day there was a really cool 'loving art' project where you got to put a heart next to your favorite piece of art. The museum was full of them! James wanted to put his heart next to this picture because it didn't have any and "looked lonely".

More and More Art

I love our Art Museum. I know, I've probably overblogged about it already. But I like it there so much I bought a pass, so the pictures are probably going to keep coming. And guess what....since the kids are still 5 and under, I only had to buy a pass for me. Compared to a zoo pass, it was super cheap!

Kate LOVES all the different dress up stations at the museum.

James was obsessed with this Mummy. He thought it was fascinating and terrifying. He wanted me to take a picture of him standing next to it, but got cold feet. Kate dragged him over and told him not to be afraid.

Puppet Show!

There's currently a really fun textile exhibit at the museum. Kate enjoyed sewing a little bit more than James did. He kept getting tangled in the string.

The kids got to make these 'lace' collars. Then they wanted to take a serious picture so they could look like the paintings. I think James nailed it.

I took this picture because it kind of made me sad. There was a school group of like 15 teenagers and all but 3 or 4 were sitting on the couch on their phones. I almost want to give five bucks to the two teenagers making out because at least they were doing SOMETHING at the museum!

I bought the pass in November and we've already been back three times. I think it was a pretty good investment!

There is the most beautiful Chihuly exhibit at the Botanic Gardens right now. We liked it so much, we went twice. It was so popular, we couldn't find parking either time we went!
