All He Does is Win
James has been on the Tebow bandwagon long before most. This picture was taken in Early September when James first became a fan (and while Tebow was still the fourth-string quarterback). 
It's taken me a while to realize it, but James was on to something when he became a Tebow fan. I mean, check this out!

A Time of Giving
Kate and I made and decorated cookies to take to the neighbors. Did you notice that her teeth are blue in this picture? That's because she ate several handfuls of sprinkles. The funny part is that she didn't eat a single cookie! Tonight we made our rounds delivering cookies (and dog bones that Kate picked out at the pet store specifically for the dogs we see on our walks) to the neighbors' houses. At our penultimate stop, our sweet neighbor said, "Oh! I have something for you too! I'm sorry it's not wrapped yet." She brought four little books for James and a stuffed dog for Kate. She knows that Kate loves dogs and that we can't have one because we're renting. The whole thing made my night. I love this time of year.

It's The Little Things
The other day we went out to dinner. I looked away and when I looked back, Kate had this block of butter (for the complimentary bread) in her hand, a bite of it in her mouth, and a grin on her face. She said, "I like this!" I couldn't help but laugh. I love being a mom.

My Little Movie Star
We have a friend who is in film school. For one of his final projects this semester he needed a child actress. Kate gladly volunteered.
It was really interesting to see everything that goes on behind the camera. It is busy, busy, busy. It made me think of the operating room--lots of bright lights and tons of people rushing around each doing their own thing, but all working with the same goal.
This scene took place in a car in a garage.
Here is Kate (Alexa) with her "Mom" and "Dad".
And here's Kate with Sean, the director. I just had to put this in here just in case he gets famous one day. You know, as proof that I know him.
Everything in the filming process was really high tech. Instead of the director's board that uses chalk, they had an electronic board. I thought that was really cool. However as I went outside, I noticed this sign and it made me laugh:
Filming is progress, isn't it.
Next stop Hollywood? Probably not. But it was fun to help Sean with this project.

Giving Thanks
I'm thankful that we now live in Colorado instead of California because now we are only 3 hours away from my grandparents.
I'm thankful for the fun walks and talks we had while we were there with my grandma, me, and Kate--three generations of women gabbing away about this and that.
I'm thankful my cousin Jimmy, his wife Katie, and their three boys were visiting at the same time. It's been so long since I've seen him that this was the first time I've met his kids.
Kate was thankful she had someone to introduce her to Legos. I'm thankful James was sleeping while she played with Legos because he probably would have eaten one or two and I'm guessing they're not real good on the digestive system.
I'm thankful my Uncle Randy is so good with the kids. They had so much fun playing with him. I'm also thankful I grabbed my camera in time to get a picture of him feeding James a turkey bone.
I'm thankful my cousin Tyler is going to be a dad in just a couple of months! He had fun practicing on James.

I made this. I found the patterned on Pinterest and I actually finished it. I am proud. Christian does his best to appreciate craft projects. He really does try. However, he still falls a little short. So I'm bragging on my blog instead. Please be impressed.

Is This Place Real?
A few weeks ago, my sister Carrie (the Jr. High/High School French teacher) came to visit so that she could attend a language conference here in Denver .
Kate loved every minute that Carrie was here. She would run around saying, "Carrie! Look at this! Carrie!" One of the best things we did while Carrie was here was visit this:
That's right, the American Girl store. Am I a nerd? Or does everyone else also think this is awesome? Christian wasn't particularly impressed (I know, you're shocked) but Carrie and I thought it was one of the best walks down memory lane and Kate was in absolute doll heaven.
You know how bathrooms usually have a hook so that you can hang your purse? Well, at the American Girl store there are double hooks so that you can hang up your doll. After all, you don't want to put a hundred dollar doll on the floor of a bathroom.
In the front of the store there is a 'Doll Salon' where you can get your doll's hair braided, curled, twirled and crimped. 
When I asked this nice lady if I could take a picture she said, "Of course! You have to prove that this really exists, right?" That's exactly what I was thinking.

The Circle of Life
A few weeks ago we went to the zoo. We made a stop by the reptile house where strollers are not allowed. We left the stroller parked by a brick wall. Kate at the time was eating "Pirate's Booty" (it's like a baked cheese puff snack) and, since food is also forbidden in the reptile house, I made her leave it on the seat of the stroller. When we got out of the reptile house, the Pirate's Booty was gone. I was really confused where it went until I looked over at the row of strollers and saw a lone sneaky squirrel hoping from stroller to stroller stealing snacks. I explained to Kate what happened. The rest of the day (and actually the rest of the week) every time she saw a squirrel she would say, "Squirrel! No take my Pirate's booey!"
On Monday the kids and I went back to the zoo. We have a pass--and we have definitely got our money's worth! We were looking into the Hornbill enclosure when I noticed one of the birds stabbing at the ground over and over. I was really curious what it was doing.

Photo Dump
No seriously, lots and lots and lots of pictures. You'll probably get sick of scrolling down very quickly.
Did I mention we went to Utah? Well, we did. Did I mention my husband is now a lawyer? Well he is. Of all these many photos, not one of them is at Christian's swearing-in. Why? Because my camera was lost under the couch at that point. But if you close your eyes and imagine Abravanel Hall packed full of lawyers and their families, you'll get the idea.
So, on to the pictures:
Both Kate and James loved watching the airplanes. Kate was thrilled get to go on one.
Thank goodness it wasn't a long flight!
Our very first stop when we got there was to go see Michael's football game. Here he is next to Coach Kelsey (and assistant Coach James Kelsey).
James spent most of the game snuggling with Great-Grandma
while Kayla and Kate were busy cheering on Michael. Now every time Kate sees football on TV, she asks, "Where is Michael?" She is convinced he plays for the University of Utah.

The kids got lots of love from their great-aunts. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of Jeanne.
The next day Kate got to do one of her favorite things, make (and eat) cupcakes.
She also had fun reading books,
playing with all the toys,
running around wild,
and trick-or-treating.
Kate liked being Bo-Peep, but later decided she would rather be the sheep.
Kate also got to go on a shopping trip. Remember the Minnie Mouse shirt? Here it is.
James got a pretty stylish outfit, too.
Our last day was very educational. Kate had a lesson about money,
a lesson about planking,
and a lesson about how to find your house on Google Earth.
James was very impressed with the whole thing.
On the way home, Kate nursed her baby at the airport. She was considerate enough to ask to borrow my cover.
It was a good trip and we were all happy to make it back home safe again.
