I'm a big kid now!

Well, at least he thinks he is anyways. Switched the boy from his baby seat into a toddler seat. Technically he is supposed to be 20 pounds to make the big switch, and he is only 18.5. However he is just so long, and was so dang squished in there. So he made the move.

He pretty much thought he was king of the car. He cracked me up, sat back there with this goofy little look on his face. He was soooo tired this afternoon while we were out running errands. He was just fighting sleep, but he didn't want to close those baby eyes. All he wanted to do was look around and enjoy his new found freedom. Usually it is such a struggle to get him back in his seat, but today he was more than willing.

I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. Everytime I carry something of his downstairs that he has grown out of, I get that little pain in my heart. The little stab that reminds you that your baby is no longer a baby. I love watching my boy grow into the toddler stage, but I sure do miss my sweet, snuggly little newborn. Good thing my new little niece will be here in less than two weeks. She will hopefully solve my baby fix, cause I sure as heck am not ready for another one of my own yet. Oh, heavens....lifes little milestones. They are just flying on by, for my Lincoln Bujao.

Is there an end??

Why the long face you ask??

Yep, thats right. The fourth and final member of our family, officially came down with strep throat as well. I know I documented Carson's, but a week after that Thiago got it, I was next and now my poor Lincoln Bujaou.

I tell you what, I have about had it. Never in my life have I had a winter quite like this one. I want (need) my healthy kids back. Luckily, I am now a pro at recognizing the symptoms to strep, so I was right on it when Lincoln starting getting sick. We were into WeeCare and had his prescription within hours of him showing signs. He is much better now that I have got the antibiotics in him but it was a LONG weekend. He is by far my worst patient, he makes it very clear that he is not feeling well. Please, please no more sickness in this Cano house.

Who Is She??

My mom I mean?? The other day I was looking through one of my old scrapbooks, and I mean old...the very first one I did. There is a picture of my mom in there. She is pregnant with Ashley, very cutely pregnant. You know the type, skinny face and arms, can't even tell they are pregnant from behind....just the cute tiny little basketball in their belly. Anyways, she is sitting at our kitchen table. The table is set, ready for dinner. We must have been having hamburgers or something cause their is slices of tomatoes and lettuce on plates. I see her old dishes, the decorations on her walls, the two highchairs sitting next to her that are meant for Jenny and I. I wondered about this pretty young lady smiling back at me from the picture. Her head cocked to the side, her hair pulled back in a bun. A tired yet content look on her face. Who is she??

I know the mom I remember. The lady who was always braiding our dolls hair, making us a homemade breakfast each and every morning. The mom who used to start my bath water for me (even when I was 16 years old), the same lady who would pull my bed down each night and turn on my electric blanket to make sure my bed was nice and toasty when I got in. The mom who would gladly slide over in her bed and welcome me in if I had a bad dream. The one who spent hours wallpapering and carpeting our barbie house. The one who made my Halloween costume each year, from scratch I might add. The one who was always volunteering to be the classroom mom, or filling in on fieldtrips. The one who left an I love you in my homemade lunch. The same mom who sat in the middle of a dressing room floor, while 3 teenage girls tried on piles and piles of back to school clothes. The mom who took me shopping for temple clothes and my wedding dress. The mom who stood next to me in the temple with tears in her eyes as she adjusted my veil. This is the mom I remember, but who is she??

I wonder what she was thinking in that picture. What was she worried about. What items on her to-do list had she crossed off that day. What was she looking forward to. What was she going to do with her evening after she put me and Jenny to bed. What were her fears, goals, problems, likes, dislikes. I wonder. What kind of young mother was she, what kind of woman was she. Would we have been friends if we were neighbors or in the same ward. Its just interesting to think about. To me now, she is my best friend, the one I am trying to become. However, she was 30 years old when she had Jenny and I. I haven't even been alive that long yet. It is weird to me to think, she had a whole other life before I came along. It seems like once I was born, we became her life.

Of course I could ask her all of these questions now. However, her memory has faded somewhat, and I am sure she wouldn't tell me everything. Just a thought I had. I would have loved to get a glimpse of her life back then. Watch her, follow her, learn from her....anyways.

Years from now, when my kids are all grown up and they are reading through this post I want them to get a glimpse of me. ME, not the mom but the person, the woman that I am. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in mom mode, you feel like that is all you have become. So here you go kids, just a few random statements about your mom and what makes her, her.

I love the feeling of a clean house, I love to walk through my home when all is clean and shiny and just enjoy it.

I am an old-fashioned kind of girl. I believe that men have their roles and women have theirs. And very seldom do I like to cross those. I do ALL the cleaning, laundry, and homemaking while I except your dad to do the lawn, car care, and repairs.

I check in on each of you every single night before I go to bed. I love to see your warm little bodies all tucked in and breathing soundly.

I believe the most important thing I can give you is the knowledge that your parents love each other and love you.

I have always been a self-assured person. Not cocky, just comfortable in my own skin. I never have paid much attention to what others think, just doesn't matter to me. I am trying my hardest to instill that in you guys.

I love to smell you when I am kissing you. Especially after your baths, I could just drink that sweet scent in.

I am quick to forgive. I have never been one to hold a grudge.

I love to lay next to you and watch movies or read. I think Carson has figured out that if he will play with my hair, I will lay there a little longer.

I love the fact that you are half Brazilian. I think I am just as proud of your heritage as your dad is. Embrace it, they are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. I am so glad that their blood runs through your veins.

I am a list maker. I start off every day with a checklist. If I do something later that wasn't on my list, I add it just for the sake of checking it off.

I want to be the kind of mom that you walk into the room, and see me on my knees, praying to our Heavenly Father. I strive hard to set the example, I know I fall short. But I try.

I think we all know, you will never be pet owners. I am sorry kids, I just can't do it.

I am not a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl. I very much like planning, order, and organization. My world gets very chaotic when things don't go according to my plan.

Not one minute goes by that I don't look at you, and thank my heavenly father for being your mom. Not one. I truly don't think I ever take you for granted. I know how blessed I am.

I can be a tad over dramatic, just a tad.

My parents divorce still hurts, after all these years that pain just never goes away.

I cannot dance or carry a tune to save my life, however I love to pick you up, spin around and just belt out some crazy tune. I think you love it too.

As much as I love you kids, I love your dad even more. He is my one and only and after all these years still makes my heart beat a little bit faster.

A coke, celebrity magazine and my bubble bath are the perfect ending to my day.

I worry about you all the time. ALL THE TIME! Whether it is the little things, like do you watch too much TV, you don't eat enough, or your sensitive, dry skin. Or the big things....your health, what if you have a hard time making friends or even worse you fall into the wrong crowds. I wouldn't be a mom if I didn't worry.

No one can make me laugh like your dad can. He gets me, like no one else does.

I love the way your little voices say "mama", I still can't believe it is me that gets to answer to that.

I am fiercely protective when it comes to the ones I love. Your dad, you kids, my mom and sisters. If you want to see my claws come out, try messing with one of them. I would do ANYTHING for them.

I love to open my windows on a cool, spring day. I am very much a smell-oriented person. I love the way the fresh air lightens my home.

I am not a chocolate eater...give me the fruity stuff. Dots, its all about the Dots.

I am all about dressing for the holidays, I love to have us all coordinate and match. I am sure you have never noticed that.

I have my deep, dark struggles just like everyone else. I try my hardest to keep them buried and to overcome them. Sometimes they sneak out, and I thank-you for your understanding and love.

I vaccuum at least once a day, I love the lines.

I love to get my hands in dirt. May is my favorite time of year.

I never truly understood the saying "Having a child is making the decision to let your heart go walking around outside your body" until you guys came along. Every time you walk out that door a pretty big piece of my heart goes with you.

Our family is the very most important thing to me. I love you and your dad more than life itself and am so grateful to call you all mine.

Love, Mom

New Look!

I decided to go dark a few weeks ago. This is actually pretty close to my natural hair color, I have just always colored it lighter. The only time I don't is when I am pregnant, but even then it still had some leftover blond in it. Anyways, at first it took some getting used to. I was shocked every time I looked in the mirror. However, I really like it know. Kinda fun to have some different for awhile.

And by whom and where did I achieve this beautiful look. Well, Ashley of course. Quick bragging moment here, I am her big sister so it gives me the right. Ashley has been doing hair for over 8 years now. She has worked at huge, fancy-shmancy salons like Thomas Hardy (6 years) and Salon Tantrum for the past 2 years. She finally got her dream this year of opening up her own salon out of her home. Ashpash salon....located in Clinton.

She is still waiting on some pictures and vinyl lettering but here are a few shots of her finished product. I love it and so does she. She did an awesome job putting it all together and has really been doing quite well. If any of you are looking for a highly experienced hairdresser with totally reasonable prices, let me know. Or her.

She is charging $15 for mens haircut, $25 for women's haircut, all colors are $50.00 (no matter what...doesn't matter on how much color, length, whatever it is all at the set price of $50.00), if you do a color/cut combo you pay only $65.00 so you save $10.00, eyebrow waxing is $8.00, and kids cuts are $12.00.

I am telling you these are excellent prices. She is used to charging quite a bit more with the experience she has. However when she started it out of her home she dropped everything. As I said let me know if you want me to hook you up with an appointment. Leave me a comment. She is awesome, the only person I have been going to for the past 8 years. Give her a call!!

spRing has SpRung!

Well for today anyways...we all know it won't last. However I do love my springy decorations, they bring a little sunshine in the house even when it is yucky outside.
Lincoln just woke up from his nap, so the boys and I are going to head out and enjoy some of that glorious sunshine. Don't want to waste the day away sitting inside, so farewell for now friends!

Like father, like son!

I am pretty sure that every dad that is a fan of sports, waits for the day to introduce their son to the game that they love. Well, Thiago's time is finally here. Carson started soccer, and who else would be his coach besides dear ol' dad. He really doesn't have time in his already busy schedule to add that in too. However, he just couldn't pass up the oppurtunity of coaching his little boy in his first organized sports team. Its cute. Way cute.

He was one excited little kid. He just counted down the hours that day, waiting for Thiago to get home from work. He was dressed and ready to go an hour before they even needed to leave the house. He kept asking me if it was time, and did I think they were going to be late. I had the Phongsavath kids over, and Carson kept telling Brev " Oh Brevy I am sorry, I can't play with you, I am going to soccer practice with my dad". Yeah, he was excited.

We'll have to see how this goes. He loves the idea of it all, but lets be honest he really isn't the most athletic kid I have ever seen. I have a feeling Lincoln is going to be into ball alot more than Carson. But he tried his hardest out there, and above all he had a good time.

About every 2 seconds, he was over by me asking if he could have a drink.

It was F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G out there, absolutely FREEZING. I cannot emphasize this enough. My teeth were just a rattling and those poor little boys were shaking. By the end of practice they all were kind of lethargic and not showing a whole lot of excitement. Hopefully it warms up here pretty soon, or I might be spending alot of time sitting in the car.

Overall, the first practice went great. Thiago couldn't stop laughing at the little boys and just shaking his head. Pretty different then coaching his 12 year olds, its a whole new world with a group of 4 and 5 year olds. Thiago says they spent a lot of time throwing grass at each other, kicking piles of dirt, running in the wrong direction. You name it, they did it. Cute little fellas.

Here's my boy warming up by the fire as soon as we got home. He sat here for a good hour. Barely got him to come over and eat dinner. He loved every minute of it though. He has watched his dad and grandpa play this game his whole life. I think he is just excited to be a part of it. Its going to be a fun season.

Oh yeah, this one had fun too, have I ever mentioned this kid has no fear........

Little boys..

There are boys in my house- and Mcqueen shoes
And 200 papers in various blues.
There's Bob (he's a builder) and Thomas the train,
there's a fireman coat to wear in the rain.
They have cars on their shirts and frogs on their hats
There's a glove and a ball and a red plastic bat.
There's dirt on a face and a smudge on a nose,
Grass stains on knees and sand between toes.
There's bathtime at night with bodies to scrub,
And when we're all done there is dirt in the tub!
There's bandaids and bruises and curious bumps,
there's smiles and laughter and sometimes there's grumps.
There's odors most icky, there's boogers so green
There's more yucky things then I'll ever get clean.
There's piles of laundry, there's stories at night.
There's bedtime and bathtime and dinnertime fights.
There's cars and there's trains and there's books about trucks
There's Scooby, Mickey, Nemo, Woody and Chuck.
Sometimes there are bugs, and sometimes there are frogs.
Sometimes there are lions, or dinos or dogs.
There are cute little vests and darling neckties
Dragged right through the mud - oh, what a surprise!
There's running and climbing and jumping and falling
And laughing and crying and hugging and brawling
And rolling and losing and finding and creeping
And whining and stealing and sometimes there's sleeping.
There's tantrums and time outs and extra loud noise-
There's love in my house shaped like two little boys.

Glimpses of Green

Okay bestest blogging friend...here is my green. For any of you wondering what this post is about, we were challenged to find green inside and out. With March arriving, and all of us having some pretty bad spring fever, it was fun to look around and find glimpses of green and spring. The sunshine was glorious while it lasted, unfortunately back to rain tomorrow. Oh well, soon enough we will be welcoming spring and all the new life it brings with it.
