Final Checks haven't happened yet because we're not in Orlando at the moment... We're staying in the Miami area for the next 2 nights. While Tyler goes out and meets with people and I work from the hotel. So I'm still living out of a suitcase, but I'm excited for this weekend when hopefully the last two items on my list will be checked off!

I promise I'll update with photos soon, they may or may not include some pics of us at the beach and in 80 degree weather...

Quick Update...

So after all was said and done, our stuff arrived safely yesterday. Tyler and I pulled up last night and to our amazement the townhouse was LOADED with boxes, furniture and even all our bedroom furniture put together upstairs! :-)

We've unloaded a good portion of the boxes, but we still have a ways to go!

The only problems thus far are.... we don't have our car yet - it's supposed to arrive in the next couple days, my favorite red serving bowl was shattered, at least one cup of every style of cup we own was shattered, my favorite big red 9*13 pan broke in half, and we're missing a couple boxes... we're thinking/hoping they are in the car.

But other than that -- what a relief! Megan and Lauren - thanks for sharing your moving horror stories, and Meg I can't believe they left your stuff outside! I've also heard other stories from people, and I now realize this isn't actually that out of the ordinary for cross country moves!

Also, we don't have any Internet/TV at our place yet, so we're currently back at our friends' house so Tyler can watch March Madness... UNC is on right now, so this is VERY important stuff ;-)

ay yi yi - quite the dilemna!!!!!

So, in the previous post I mentioned that when we return to Orlando, we'd finally get our furniture, clothes and all our other "stuff" delivered to us. Well, I guess I wasn't too specific in that sentence, because I really didn't know when our stuff would arrive. And if you've ever been moved, you realize that you never quite know when the stuff will arrive. But I thought it'd get there within a week of when we get home tomorrow.

Well....Here's our situation

Our movers told us they'd deliver the stuff 10-14 days after we dropped off our car and all the final items at their warehouse in SLC. Since I dropped the car off on March 19th. that would put the stuff arriving between March 29th and April 3rd. They promised us that we'd be given a daily update of where our stuff was and when the approximate arrival date would be.

On Monday (4 days had passed) we hadn't heard anything, so Tyler contacted our mover and asked him what was up... where was our stuff? Of course he didn't know so he said someone would email us and let us know. At this point I'm thinking these people haven't even shipped it yet and we'll be lucky if we get our stuff by April 3rd!

Well Tyler got the email late yesterday ... and to our surprises ... our stuff is due to arrive March 26th at 8 am ... aka TOMORROW MORNING!!! TYLER AND I ARE BOTH OUT OF TOWN UNTIL TOMORROW NIGHT!!! And no, sorry, even though they never communicated anything to us, and it's being delivered before they told us ... they won't wait for 12 hours for us to get there, they need to drop it off when they want to drop it off because they want to get back. Ok Ok, well what if they just drop the stuff off at the Orlando office/warehouse and then have them deliver it the next morning? Oh we're not doing that because even though they already promised us our final price, that would cost an additional $1000! So even though we just moved to Orlando and don't know many people there. We have to find someone to sit at our house and be there during the day when our stuff is delivered.

The GOOD NEWS is ... Luckily we've met an awesome family in our ward, our new friend Erin was willing to spend the morning at our townhouse so the movers can have permission to move our stuff in. So I think it'll all work out.

But It's killin me that they make absolutely no contact with us, and then let us know our stuff will get there in 36 hours. Needless to say, Tyler and I have been making quite a few phone calls today, scrambling to fax credit card info, call movers in Florida, Utah, Neighbors, Landlords etc etc... all while I'm trying to perform an audit in Minnesota and Tyler was in all day training in Alabama.

The moral of the story is - AVOID MAYFLOWER MOVING COMPANY!!!

And Other GOOD NEWS is, when we get back to Orlando our stuff will be there - in our new place... but it's just really freaking me out that it will be delivered and we won't tell them what goes where, what's upstairs, what's down, where those pictures go, how to put the bed together and other control freak issues I have. Maybe this will be good for me??

Anyways, that's the end of my situation. I'm in a hotel room in Minneapolis and just needed to vent my story

Miles Away Again...

Well, just when I was getting used to the 80 degree weather, I'm back to the cold. I'm currently in Minnesota and the temperature is in the low 40s, its been rainy all day, there are risks of flooding, and it's supposed to snow tomorrow. When I flew out of Orlando I looked down at the sunny skys and the blue lakes dotting the landscape. Then when I flew into Minneapolis, I looked down at gray skies, there were lakes, but sadly they were all covered with ice and I couldn't help but laugh!! I might even have to use an ice scraper for my car tomorrow!!

I'm on my last business trip with my accounting firm from SLC. But it worked out at a pretty good time because Tyler is also out of town right now, doing some final training in Alabama! We were able to go to the airport together but then went our separate ways...

When we get back to Orlando on Thursday we'll be getting all our furniture and everything else we packed up a month ago! I think at this point I'll feel like we really moved to Orlando... I'm not sure, it might take longer to sink in...I'll let you know!

We've made it!

We're together in Orlando! I can't believe we really live here! We went to Universal Studios City Walk for dinner last night and it's CRAZY how many people were just pouring out of those Amusement Parks. I got here just in the peak of Orlando Travel/Spring Break central! Between that, the fact that I haven't been here for 36 hours, and that I'm living out of a suitcase - I honestly still feel like I'm on vacation. It's still too weird that when my plane landed in Orlando, I was coming home.

So as of now, we're living with the Munns family while we wait for our stuff to arrive. We have Tyler's Acura and all our furniture/clothes/everything else we own, on a Mayflower Moving Truck making the trek across the country. We don't know when it will arrive exactly, but probably in TEN days. When the stuff come in we'll move here...
This is the townhouse we'll be renting for the next little while. It's just sitting empty waiting for us to move in!

SO what I've noticed in my 36 hours are:

* The weather is great, it's already getting to 80 degrees (Tyler is currently at the driving range) and I'm glad we didn't move in July
* Tyler ROCKS the minivan, and it definitely has some power to it, and Tyler looks good no matter what he's driving!
* ORANGE BLOSSOMS! One good thing about Orlando is that it really is a lot like Mesa. I have missed the smell of Orange Blossoms in the Spring, but they are in full blossom here!

I'm sure there are many more lessons to be learned, we'll keep you updated on our adventures in Florida!

In 2009 thus far...

In 2009 thus far, I have been to 7 states in 4 different time zones - Arizona, Utah, Minnesota, California, Florida, New Jersey, and New York.

In 2009 thus far, Tyler has been to 6 states in 4 different time zones - Arizona, Utah, California, Florida, Texas and tomorrow he's heading to Maryland.

In 2009 thus far, Tyler has stayed in at least 14 different hotels (that I can count)

In 2009 thus far, there have been 10 Sundays and I have been to 9 different ward buildings for worship. In January I went to a baby blessing in Holladay, our assigned ward in Draper, my sister's ward in Provo, and various wards in Orlando. In February I went to 2 different wards in Draper, my cousin's farewell in Salt Lake City, and our friend's ward in Midway. In March, last week we went to Tyler's parent's ward in Provo and today I went to my grandparent's ward up in SLC.

In 2009 we became an aunt/uncle for the first time.

In 2009 we welcomed a new brother-in-law to the family - Nick!

In 2009 I sold my car that I had driven since I was 16.

In 2009 we've said goodbye to many family members and friends in Utah.

In 2009 we will buy a house and become residents of Orlando, Florida. And maybe after that point our lives will calm down a bit? Or Maybe not, life is crazy but we're enjoying the good times we've had thus far!

11 Days & Counting...

Long Distance Relationship

Well it's official, Tyler has moved to Orlando! I dropped him off at the airport yesterday. He had 4 huge bags - weighing 50, 65, 25, and 30 pounds - that he'll be living out of for the next month. (his golf clubs included of course!) When he got to the airport in Orlando he took a cab to the Toyota Dealership and picked up our brand new car!
Or shall I say ... van ...
Here is the picture of the van, I haven't seen it yet, but it looks like it'll be a good family car, too bad we don't have too big of a family at this point though... Why a minivan? you may ask? Well, Tyler will need to carry quite a bit of equipment and sales materials in the back of the car, so he needs plenty of space. Since the company is all about energy efficiency, they have a "No SUV Policy." Hence, the Toyota Sienna is the car of choice for the company's salesman. For those of you who know Tyler, you know this is an interesting car for the speed demon to be driving, but hey we're not complaining about our new ride!

Now we are officially moved out of our Draper apartment, and I am living with my grandparents up in SLC. They live up in the avenues, and the funny part is when you look up their house on Google Maps, you can even see my Grandpa sitting on the porch with the U flag flying proudly!

But I have to admit, it's not too bad of a setup! I've had dinners made for me the past two nights, I don't have to worry about the stresses of packing anymore, and it's great to spend time with them before I move across the country. I am busy at work during the days, trying to get projects wrapped up in SLC before I join Tyler on March 19th.

It seemed that "March" was so far away, but all of a sudden it's here. Tyler is in Tampa for this week meeting business contacts and actually beginning his new job! The next couple weeks are really going to be tough, but I'm excited for the new life we'll start together in a few weeks.

But for now, it's 16 Days ... and counting...
