Tyler's Grandma celebrated her 86th birthday at the beginning of August. Everyone enjoyed the party except for the birthday girl who was not feeling well. We are glad she decided to come to her party even though she was in so much pain.
Everyone was very full after our delicious meal.
This was the safest place I could come up with to keep them from running around in the parking lot.
Kolby does not believe in hugging.
The children were a bit overheated after their wild frisbee game.

We invested in season passes to the local pool this summer. It turned out that spending the summer at the pool was a perfect way to spend our time.
The kids enjoyed it more than I could have possibly imagined.
They looked forward to going and spending time in the water and with each other.
During the months of June, July and August we were able to go to the pool 43 times.
I will be buying summer passes to the pool again! It was great exercise and kept the kids entertained.
My Grandpa (AKA Pop) turned 85 at the end of July. We celebrated with a family gathering. It was a fun evening.

We have been able to go water skiing a couple of times this summer. Landry is preparing for what he fears will be a terrifying tube ride. He may have been forced to ride in the tube against his will. Is throwing him in the tube while he screams and pushing him out behind the boat considered good or bad parenting? While on his ride a dragonfly decided to join him in the tube and really sent him over the edge.
Kolby is always tortured by whoever is driving the boat. This day the ride was particularly rough and he was finally forced to bail out of the tube when he considered it safe.
One night we went to Idaho. The water was rough because of a storm but it created a beautiful rainbow and sunset.
It was fun to be out on the water.

July brought the annual swimming lessons. Landry and his class are feeding Charlie. Charlie is in the cage and he lives off the bubbles that the kids in swimming class blow in the water.
Landry could not wait to start his first year of swimming lessons. He had been swimming almost every day at the same pool so I was confident we would not have any problems. Well... he spent the first day of lessons sitting on the side of the pool, in the fetal position, crying. Luckily, the next seven lessons he jumped right in the pool and swam without any issues. He mastered the superman swim position.
Addie passed Level 3!
Kolby loves the diving board.
He likes to entertain us with all of his different jumps.
The last day of swimming lessons the lifeguard duck comes to visit.

We attended the Youth Spectacular in July. It was a production that involved 3500 youth (12-18) from 30 stakes in the area. The show was billed as a once in a generation event.
The performance was enjoyable.
It was a long, steep, fast and hot climb to the stadium. We were all on our last leg by the time we were seated.
I have never seen Addie so hot. We were a little concerned about her. This picture was taken a couple of hours after we got there and her face is still red.
The grand finale with all 3500 youth. It was neat to watch.

In Utah, when the Fourth of July falls on Sunday the weekend and the celebrations go on and on. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday are all filled with fun. We chose to go to Salt Lake City on the 5th of July. We ended up touring the LDS Conference Center. We all really enjoyed the tour. The kids had numerous questions for our tour guide. They did not stop with their inquiries. I don't think she was expecting such interest from kids.
We also enjoyed our visit to Temple Square.
The next weekend Grammy fixed us dinner. She did not actually plan on having us to Sunday dinner but her other guests could not come at the last minute. The kids were very impressed with their Great-Grandma's cooking. They could not get enough of her roast beef and ate and ate. Grammy was showered with compliments from her Great-Grandchildren about her cooking. Kolby and Addie thought it was pretty special to eat at Grammy's house.
We left Grammy's house to go to the fireworks and symphony concert at the university.
It was a beautiful night.
Kolby, Addie and I took a walk to listen to the symphony.

Landry was counting down the days until his birthday.
He enjoyed having his Grandparents and Great-Grandparents at his party.
Landry wanted a skateboard for his birthday and he got it.
He could not wait for his cake and talked about it for several weeks before his big day.
The fire was barely out on the candles when he started grabbing the candles to lick the frosting off.
Landry knows that he always has fireworks on his birthday since he was born on the Fourth of July.
The only problem is he thinks any and all fireworks are for his birthday.
The cold spectators. The first Fourth of July in my memory where jackets were required.
I think Landry's 4th Birthday was a success!
It has been an amazing four years with this little guy!
