Keep on going...
So I just spent the last two hours updating the blog from when McKay was born...there are a lot of posts to catch up on. In fact, you'll have to hit the older posts button at the end of the page to get all the updates...there are some fun pictures! Enjoy!! Comments are always welcome too ;)
TWO MONTHS
I cannot believe it! He is two months old and just growing like a weed. Stats: 12.9lbs. (70%) 24.5 inches (95%)...the doctor mentioned that he was sorta a skrawny thing "for a Thornock"-I just laughed.
McKay is full of personality and is cooing, making bubbles, smiling, and laughing. It's taken this long to get him happy...he was sure a crier in the beginning, but I think we've gotten something down that he doesn't cry near as often as he did and I am sure grateful for that. McKay is such a joy to us. As much of a surprise as he was I am so glad that he is here. There's a special spirit in any home when there is a new baby and he has sure reminded us of that. He loves to snuggle and relax at the base of your shoulder and is content there for quite some time. He is more and more alert these days, but gets bored easily so we pulled out the exersaucer and it's helped quite a bit to ease his boredom. I now have a little more time to get things accomplished around the house (he is not a very good sleeper, really...some days he can be, but mostly not so much).
We sure love having our sweet McKay.
quiet time
someone was being awfully quiet the other night...came into the kitchen and this is what we found. she had gathered all her "pinger-polish" and was busy painting away. She even got herself a little drop cloth for any spills...
intent concentration
making sure there are all the colors represented
she is just now noticing the camera-no time to smile...gotta get those fingers painted

Wedding bells
First thing, Friday, November 4th we hopped into the car with our dresses on, our hair done and made our way to Twin Falls for the sealing of my brother and his wife. The three girls and McKay were the only ones able to come with me...Jake stayed home with a sick Bryant and Emily-we missed them the entire weekend. The girls just loved the feeling of love on the temple grounds. It was a very blustery day with snow flurries here and there, but it was the perfect day for a wedding nonetheless.
lovely Sarah
hilarious Lydia
sophisticated Kayelynn
the beautiful bride
the handsome groom
at the luncheon, we managed to get a picture with all the cousins on my mom's side of the family...we have Valerie's kids, Annette's boy and my kids-they play together like they see each other everyday instead of once a year.
they were troopers this day...it was a long, but fun one!
this is priceless. I have NEVER seen my dad dance with anyone. but at the reception he danced with Kayelynn and had tears in his eyes. I will never forget seeing this. (don't mind the outfit Kayelynn is sporting...this was her travel outfit-she likes to mismatch-with funky patterns)
Lydia took advantage of dancing with the groom before he was swept away ;)
We are so happy for the newlywed couple and wish them a life full of love and happiness!

Halloween
dad was the designated carver. all the kids got to draw their "faces"
ew! guts!
busy, busy drawing...she would do this all day-draw, color, etc.
daddy even got an assistant for part of the night
the final products! I think they turned out mighty awesome!
and, wouldn't you know it! I was in such a hurry getting everything (the kids and the car) ready for the trunk or treat that this is the ONLY picture I got of everyone in their costumes...we have a witch, BSU cheerleader, ladybug, cowboy, hippie, BSU fan and dinosaur...with "tow-mater" as our transportation (not really...) We had a blast of a Halloween. It was super windy and cold, but not enough to keep us from trunk or treating and trick or treating afterward.

monkey girl
see the mess-okay, it's all a mess, I mean the mess on the floor...
here's the culprit...and proud of it!
yep! she climbed onto the TOP BUNK swept off the girls jewlery boxes while searching for makeup. she found some lipstick and smothered her lips (like a clown)...she enjoyed every second of her adventure-even after I found her. She had originally been sent off to find some pants...hmmm...

Happy Fall, y'all
doing the sprinkler blowouts...and for some reason since the sprinklers were involved in a little of this day, Lydia thought she should sport her swimsuit...and no it wasn't warm at. all.
gathering corn stalks to decorate the front of the house.
my little helpers getting the front yard all decorated for fall
I have been waiting YEARS to decorate the front of my house this way! I am so excited it finally came to fruition. Now, to get the garden "gutted" and the straw bales roto-tilled in...

Sarah
my little Sarah is growing up so much this year! She is just blossoming into a little lady! Kindergarten does that to little girls. She got reading bifocals to give her an even more sophisticated look! Since then her reading and attention span has flown through the roof!
and to top it off she is constantly labeled a princess!

surgery
Jake had a ganglion cyst growing in his wrist. It was starting to cause some pain and tingling sensations throughout his hand, so we opted to get it operated on. I took him in in the morning and 5 hours later we left. This is the picture just before he took his pain meds that knocked him out for 8 hours!
snuggling with daddy. five hours in a hospital gets tiring.helping daddy relax before the pain hits strong
a little of this, a little of that
the two littles, loving life together!
she was so proud of herself for doing this...she does it all the time now!
chocolate? no! she eats dirt!! the little pill...and thinks it is yumm-o!
our ginormous carrot from the garden! sure was tasty
same carrot after being sliced...puts it a little more in perspective, eh?

to the cabin we go...
water + rocks = never ending fun
SPLASH!
all their treasures!
Pinata fun! she LOVED hitting it!
whack!
smack!
crack!
ker-plunk!
candy treasures
one smack!
exploring the mountain just above the cabin
there is a little town to the north that has a little hot springs...just before we jumped in the water the kids took a little time on the swing-the joy!!
look at that fun!
smiles
he was sure mad he wasn't in the water
our own little master shifu
and the grand cabin we stayed in-the front view
the back view
We LOVE being able to spend time at this cabin. It has so much to keep everyone happy at all times. Games, movies, outdoor fun, pretty much anything you could think of! Thank you Kelson's for letting us stay for a weekend!
