Fun Times

We are being busy and lazy everyday, but we enjoy the sun and weather.
Enjoy the pictures!

Shocker

We have been managing apartments for about four years now. It takes a lot of energy, patience and some days extra friendliness. Although some days it's really rather enjoyable. I have learned quite a few lessons managing girls and now boys on how I, as a parent, will be when my children enter college - STAY OUT OF THE WAY! I hope to teach my children MANY things before they move away from home. Especially common sense.

Here's the best example I have come across in the 4 years I have been managing. Most apartments here supply the large furniture for the single college students; couches, beds, TV, VCR/DVD, etc. Some students have some novel ideas come to them while away from home. Recently, I had a few residents decide that they would like to trade out their TV for a bigger one from another apartment. Not too bad, except the apartments they "traded" with were empty. So, how did they trade you say? Well, which apartment? The first apartment somehow had a window open, the other apartment they broke the door jam. Long story short, one TV was traded to a different apartment complex and another one was broken while being traded and after all was said and done I spent over 4 hours with the police as they arrested and charge these young men. Unfortunately, I am more involved than I ever thought I would be.

There are days when I wish I could just teach these young people the lesson in words vs. real life. However, some people just learn better through experience. The more that happens with this case the more I understand how differently boys and girls think. It's a shocker, I know. I just hope I can teach my children that same lesson without them experiencing real life in a jail cell.

Sarah Words

Some times when you don't "over shoot the mark" you hear the most precious things. We were at Hard Hat steak house the other night. As the waiter asked if the kids wanted chocolate milk or milk, Sarah sounds out "hcolte milp" we all looked suprised, even the waiter. Next, I had trouble getting her to bed prior to our garage sale, when she fussed in Terressa arms later I said, "hey, I tried to feed you this"(bottle) she sounded out "ist jyulhee"(its yucky). Terressa looked at her and Sarah had the biggest sly grin, and with a fresh "warm" one she went to sleep. She knows we can understand her little tounged words. There are lots of other words and comments we now hear and like all kids she has learned to ask for what she wants.

School is Great, even for Jake

Heres an update on the educating; I go tues-thursday 8-2:30, I droped my 2 extra jobs and cut to part time weekends at the hospital, every week has a skills checkoff list, last week I had two exams, we should read 150pgs a night, I skim, my 7 books for the semester cost $499.60, I had to buy embriodered school scrubs for fall clinicals 3 for $106.00, I only get 4 credits for this summer, you think they could of made it 6 so I could get student loans or a grant, never the less summer is $450.00 and not $2500 like the fall. I only carpool with one person due to everyone else working after classes, still it only costs half in fuel. I do admit that this is the greatest time in all education. Not only does all the jargon you take prior finaly apply, the program is based on requirments and not what the teacher wants to teach. Plus our teachers, (unlike some other places) have 40+ years combined experience proir to teaching, makes for some good application. The books are for RN courses, but as with the preisthood all levels build upon each other, so next year we wont need retaught the same things and can focus more on internal physical assessments, IV theropies, and leadership. I seem to understand quite a bit from my 13 or so years as a CNA, though if I remember I didn't want to be in nursing at that time. Times change a Man, or in my case a Boy. Thanks to all for the suport so far its been great. Jake

Being Polite

Last Saturday we had a garage sale with Melissa at Mary's house. It started at 7:30am so we needed to be up early. Bryant and Sarah were ready even though they were up untill 2 the night prior. Kayelynn, who slept sooner, was awakened and after sitting up and looking around said very sweetly, "No thankyou" laid back down and covered up. What a grasp on the situation. These are the joyfull moments we experience as parents.

Memorial Day

Many of you may have wondered whats happened since Mothers Day. Not alot. We had a great Memorial day taking photo's of graves and fixing locations so we know where to go ourselves. I worked the nigh before, (as ussual) but after complaining loudly and preping myself we met with the family and began our journey. At one time I realized that Rexburg's Cemetary is a time line. East to west you can walk the generations. Start in the 1800s and walk to the 2000's. Kinda historic you know. We all nestled into Mcdonald's after for the traditional lunch and watched the ever growing kid populus get some energy burnt. The rest of the day was spent visiting and resting, the way the great creator planned.
