2008 in Review

I have so much to catch up on: Bryant's birthday party, Christmas parties, Christmas day, etc. The digital world is in sight, but has yet to come to pass thusfar, so we are waiting on FOUR rolls of film to be developed and then I can "get caught up"-that term is so relative :D

Anyway, onto the point of the post. I have not been very good at the whole Christmas card thing...it used to be something I looked forward to doing, but for some reason the last couple years it just hasn't really sparked an interest. I know that you all know we care and think of you, and let's face it, most of you already know the happenings of our life through this ingenious tool, so why send a brag card? So, no Christmas cards this year, and maybe not for a while. With this amazing tool of internet and blogging I will be able to do an "end of the year card"...I will do a recap of the year. As most of you know I want to make this into a book and I think that doing a recap would be fun to have at the end of each year. I hope to print the blog at the end of each year to have an instant scrapbook ;) So if you don't need the recap, stop now...otherwise brace yourself this got longer the more I typed!!

2008 was quite the year for us.

In mid-January we discovered that I would need surgery to remove an ovarian cyst and consequently the ovary and fallopian tube itself. On top of being pregnant at the time, it was quickly a matter of prayer. We put our faith in the Lord and retired from managing student housing here in Rexburg and moved to a very small, quaint basement apartment the first of February.

Six days later I had surgery. My sister-in-law was a lifesaver!! The cyst was quite painful, so to pack and unpack was really difficult especially for my overly ambitious OCD self. She was very willing to pack while I finished my last few days at work and watch the kids. She was here everyday before the surgey helping me unpack 2100 square feet into 900 square feet!! (Yeah, most of it ended up in storage-thankfully Jake has family nearby or I would have had some VERY tearful goodbyes with "things"). She was very willing to watch the kids the day of surgery since I had to be there at 6:00 in the morning with a planned overnight visit. I think that she helped me everyday for an entire month! I don't know if I ever really said thank you...I was incredibly humbled to realize that someone would take that much time from their personal schedule with a toddler of her own to just help! So, in case I never thanked you {M}, THANK YOU!!! (words could never express my gratitude).

It quickly became a reality that I was a stay-at-home mom and I didn't know what I was doing. After working 4 years (at home), I didn't know what it really meant to raise kids and I had THREE! It was quite the shock for me and unfortunately it became a difficult adjustment for my children. With the support of my mother and friends I managed to figure out a system that would work for me and my children through the day. It has taken close to a year to actually feel "normal" (again a relative term). And through this all Jake was attending school full-time and working full-time. Somehow we made it-we definitely had the blessings of the Lord to help us "endure to the end".

In May, Jake graduated with his LPN and already had a job lined up. He quickly scheduled to take his licensing test and was promised to begin working with his temporary license. That being said he put in his two-weeks notice at the local hospital he had worked at for FIVE years, who seemed to not really care if he stayed or left (interesting, if you ask me). He got his temporary license shortly after he had quit working at the hospital only to find out he would not be able to work for them until he had truly passed the test and had his permanant license...what's a man to do when he has no idea how long it takes to get a permanant license in the mail??? FIVE weeks later, and getting incredibly desperate financially doing all the odd jobs he could fit in, he finds out he has passed and gets his license in the mail only to be told that he would have to wait a few more weeks to get approved for his job! Again, what's a man to do? By the middle of June, he finally got the call that he would be put on the schedule starting the next day!!! Halleluiah! He has been working for the "doc in the box" clinic in Idaho Falls since and LOVES his job!! His employer is so good to him and he actually looks forward to going to work and comes home with a smile still on his face! Oh what a dream job!

In May we discovered that Bryant and Sarah were having an incredibly hard time sleeping due to breathing problems. We had always assumed it had to do with the changing of the seasons, but for some reason or another we both decided that we should have them checked out. Come to find out they would BOTH need their tonsils and adanoids taken out. Two weeks later we had both kids in the hospital quite curious actually, beings that they were very used to this hospital since it was where daddy had worked for five years, but they had never been IN the hospital room IN the bed IN the gown! Luckily we got the best nurses who soothed them before they could even be nervous-they each got to bring home a special teddy bear. Recovery actually went quite well and they are both breathing wonderfully! We had learned that Sarah had tonsils that looked like a 40-year old, they were so worn and were blocking 80% of her airway and Bryant wasn't far off. We are relieved we followed through with our feelings on this!

Lydia joined the family July 16th at a healthy 8lbs. 9 oz. and 10-days early (mom didn't want anyone delivering her besides the trusty mid-wife (she was going out of town the next day) she's used for all four children). Lydia has been a joy in our home and quite an individual. You'd think that you'd get one kid somewhat similar to another, but oh no, why would we have that when we can discover-AGAIN-what tricks might work. She is a very happy baby now that she is a little more independent. She has been my only child that doesn't take naps during the day and literally would not let mom put her down for ANYTHING! Thankfully the women on the Thornock side bought me a Moby wrap, it saved me most days from the exhaustion of just holding her and getting nothing done! Once she turned three months I whipped out the trusty exersaucer (after trying a papasan, bumbo, swing, the floor, etc) to discover she will actually play in it longer than two minutes!!! It's been heavenly! She got her first teeth at four months and has been sitting unsupported since five months! She LOVES to tackle the kids (with the help of mom or dad)-it gets the biggest squeal and laughter of anything. We all love her so much!!

The rest of the year has gone quite smoothly for us, health-wise. It has been a struggle living in a small basement and discovering the bugs and mold and yucky things that exist from an old home. We've struggled financially, especially after the setback from Jake's transition from one job to the next, but we've managed to pay our bills on time and provide the bare necessities for our family and we're still happy!

Bryant started Kindergarten this fall and has loved every minute-even during those few weeks when he had minature bullies, but he figured a way to make them his friends and now they are all he talks about. He can't wait for school to start again on the 5th and neither can mom!! He has really grown up since Kindergarten started. He is still a strong personality with a definate leadership quality, but he is so helpful and tries so hard to assist even when sometimes it would be much better if he didn't ;)

Kayelynn started preschool this fall. I never thought I would have my kids attend preschool at all, let alone when they were three, but she needed it and it's proved to be just the thing for her interest in learning. She is soaking in so much-the teacher even commented that she acts as if she's an oldest child by the way she just takes it all in. She is growing up so fast. It seems sometimes we get a small glimpse of how she'll be when she's a teenager, it's so scary how fast they grow!

Sarah has just blossomed! She is our little tomboy with a hint of princess every now and then. She loves to help with Lydia and has really developed the mommy assistant role-it's kind of cute. We've struggled this year with her and her health. We discovered, about the time we moved, that she was having some real problems eating certain foods and kept getting told that she would grow out of it, but doing at-home "tests" proved that there was more to it than that. She has major issues with 100% fructose...she cannot absorb it like most do and it just sails through her. For a while we were worried that she had diabetes or something, but blood tests didn't hint towards that...to this day we still aren't completely sure what's up, but we've been told that she is "fructose intolerant"...she can't drink fruit juice and she's just starting to tolerate fresh fruits again...it's been really hard because that is what she wants. She has developed a diet higher in proteins and carbs, but we can tell when she needs something to eat (most people have disregarded it to being two), but there is a huge difference between a two-year tantrum and a "low-blood sugar level". We've gotten in our groove.

This year has had plenty of ups and downs, but we have learned to have faith, trust in the Lord and to accept service. We hope we can remember the lessons we've learned and make 2009 another year for the memory books!

Goodbye 2008, welcome 2009!!

Preschool Program

Kayelynn had her preschool program last week...it was so incredibly cute! Her class was combined with the afternoon class. They sang the cutest songs, used these huge bells to sing jingle bells and all of a sudden SANTA emerged...Kayelynn was so dumbstruck (I didn't get that on film though, darn it) she didn't know what to do...Sarah was the one shouting "look, it's Santa"!
Singing before Santa entered...her cousin is in the class with her-he's the one to the left of her Notice the sunglasses-yeah, she is totally my California girl...she likes snow, but would prefer to be wearing shorts, t-shirt, flipflops and sunglasses...she made it out the door with the sunglasses and I didn't realize it until AFTER she was done singing
Sitting in a circle getting the be good talk :)
She thought this was the best day ever!!! Her dream come true...be on stage, sing her heart out and then get a little gift at the end for doing such a great job and being such a great girl!
Santa delivered a gift for each of the children
He poses with all the kids for their parents...he's pretty funny, that Santa! He informed the children that in order to get any gifts they have to brush their teeth everyday and do what their parents ask-the first time they ask! A nice little plug for us parents, wouldn't ya say?

He asks the kids to whisper what they want for Christmas in their ear...I was expecting her to ask for the coveted (sp?) makeup set she's been asking for for 2 months! She asked for a purse and a dolly diaper bag...if I'd have only known-maybe for her birthday ;D
Kayelynn and Harrison with Grandma "Anna"
with the PINK LEGOS Santa got for her...she was so cute about it..."I didn't know Santa could get me these, how did he know I liked this?"
Harrison, Sarah (who absolutely insists on going to school although she is only 2...I still don't think she's going to be in preschool next year, poor girl)
Her DARLING teacher...she loves these kids so much! Kayelynn ADORES her, just as Bryant did last year

Reality Moments

Lately, I have been really trying to get into the Spirit of Christmas without focusing too much on the "woo is me"...I have learned that although life is not how you appreciate it at the moment in time that you are in, there could be worse things.
I have a dear friend that has discovered her 2nd oldest daughter has an aggresive form of cancer although they do not know what kind-reality moment #1.
I have a close family member that has to live the week without her husband (he is working in a different state) while she is 8 months pregnant with #2 and is trying to rent her current home and keep a happy face-reality moment #2.
I have another dear friend that is building their own home (have been for about a year) and her husband has been diagnosed with a disease that is disabling him from being able to help on the home as we cannot walk well without pain, let alone wrestle with his sons, build a home, etc.-reality moment #3.
I attended a girls' night out last night with some dear friends and had a great time...we were able to take dinner to {reality moment #1} and gather at another friends house for food and women talk-it was just what I needed. I have been having a hard time accepting the fact that I get invited to this girls' night each month when I have nothing in common with these women beyond the fact that I am a mother like most of them. I have nothing to measure my successes in comparison to them, but last night something clicked that made me realize that although I may never feel comfortable going (I am not up-to-date on fashion, politics, technology, have any money or am intelligent with words) I will always learn something and rekindle the feeling of sisterhood. It has been a long time coming for me to accept this. I attend quite faithfully, but I have never felt that all these women would consider ME their friend...I would consider every one of them mine in a heart-beat, but I have always felt that they either pity me, or tolerate me...I am quite the odd duck. Last night, something happened to me-I don't know what, but I felt a true sisterhood and kinship with everyone there and even the ones that weren't able to attend...maybe it was the service we all did, maybe it was that I could actually be part of intelligent conversations, or maybe it's because I finally realized the my prayers were being answered right in front of my face and I had to accept it!! Prayers are answered, but I am too pessimistic to see that my prayers are answered daily in small ways-reality moment #4.
For some strange reason we have been chosen to be the recipients of the 12-days of Christmas this year, and it warms my heart that someone would think of my family and share the meaning of Christmas with my children in a way I never could. I have enjoyed being able to explain the true meaning of Christmas and have my children understand the concept and the reason of the season all the while getting excited that the 12-days of Christmas would include them-they have realized there is someone out there that loves us and we do not have to know who it is or what they might drop off each night-reality moment #5.
Reality is in front me and I need to live in these moments and not plan so much for the moments to come or for the moments to get better...I need to take my own advice "you get what you get and you don't throw and fit"!!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!

Last weekend we went down to Salt Lake to see the Christmas lights on Temple Square...it's become a family tradition for us to go around Bryant's birthday (in his 6 years, last year was the only one we didn't go). My sister met us in Pocatello and we took her down with us, it was a fun trip even with the slushy roads on the way home.
On the way down, we stopped at Hill Air Force Base-Bryant and Jake were in airplane...excuse me, JET, heaven! Sarah was too, of all the kids, she is the most interested in the happenings of the sky! Here are a few pictures of our fun trip!

He's "flying"

Jake was wandering and didn't make it in the picture...I love how Sarah is trying to "hold" Lydia in the stroller...
It's BEAUTIFUL!!
We were waiting to meet the rest of our family in front of the Conference Center...it was kind of wild because there was the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Concert and there were people EVERYWHERE!!! At least there weren't very many on Temple Square :D

Snow??

My friend gave me the link to have this awesome snow effect on your blog...at the time we didn't have snow outside, so it made me feel a little more festive and in the mood for Christmas, but now??? just kidding, I enjoy the snow, so long as it doesn't stay until June like last season!! I am linking to my friends blog, since I can't get it to work correctly through mine...here it is-enjoy your SNOW!!!

HaPpY BiRtHdAy!!!!

Bryant is the big 6!!!
As the oldest child, I'm sure I will remember some of my experiences more prominently with him than any of the other children, but being an oldest child myself I understand how it can be. It brings tears to my eyes to see that he is now in school and getting even closer to the age of accountability...will I ever teach him enough before it makes a bigger impact on his life?! I sure hope so.
6 weeks old
2 1/2 years
We were so eager to bring him to this world, and then once he was here we kept asking ourselves when his real parents were going to come and pick him up...not that he was a bad baby, we just didn't feel ready or worthy to raise him! He has been such a highlight in our lives...he is a typical boy, but there are times when we are so blown away with his courage, understanding, and gentleness! He is truly a gifted boy!
3 years
4 years
I am honored (and still very much scared) to be his mother...he will surely do great things in this world. We have always teased that if there could ever be a youth missionary he would be one of the first ones...he has no reservations for others, he is bold and willing to stick up for the rules! Sometimes in the bossy six-year-old, oldest child way, but he still knows when to stand up for the right and be a leader! I joke about it, but it humbles me to know that I may just be raising a modern-day stripling warrior-I have a lot to do to prepare him and myself!!

5 years old

He has accomplished much this year:
  • finished preschool
  • started kindergarten
  • been bullied at school
  • overcome the bullies and now they are his friends
  • lost two teeth
  • learned to FINALLY pedel his training wheeled bike
  • has grown immensely
  • had gotten his tonsils/adnoids out (first hospital experience)
  • his given many talks in primary and LOVES to prepare them
  • is learning to read (scary, mostly because it's a major milestone of growing up)
  • been camping with his dad for the 1st time
  • traveled to Boise without his parents
  • learned to be an even bigger helper with his sisters
He is a great example, however much he has to be reminded, he still accomplishes this concept. Happy Birthday Bryant!

WE LOVE YOU!

It's a PaRtY!!!!

I discovered this fun company Uppercase Living...they do vinyl lettering! It's a home-party company, so I signed up to have a party. I am virtually inviting all of you to attend ;) Anyone who lives close is welcome to come by at 7pm tomorrow, December 4th and see the fun things they have to offer, if you can't come, but are still interested visit their website here (just don't order online) and make your list. Email it to me (twa_dimples at hotmail dot com) by Saturday and they say we should get our orders in before Christmas since the company is based out of Utah! They have pre-made sayings and also do custom orders. They have 38 colors to choose from and over 20 fonts!!! I LOVE vinyl!!
Hope to see some of you and hear from others of you. I am still having a hard time narrowing down my own purchase ;)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Our Thanksgiving was so fun and low key. We decided last minute to travel to Boise to see my family. Bryant and Kayelynn were privledged to travel a day early with my brother and his wife-they really had a good time! The weather was so mild that we got to play outside a lot and even do some yard work ;)

My sister, dad and I did participate in a little Black Friday shopping and rather enjoyed ourselves! It was fun just the three of us wandering, not really looking for anything in particular and not really getting anything either.

On Saturday we all went cosmic bowling...it was a lot of fun! Bryant got a strike in the 10th frame!! He scored better than me-scoring 73! I love to bowl, but I rarely break 50...I got a 53! Kayelynn cheered (or screamed) for everyone whether they knocked down 1 or all 10 pins, it was cute! Sarah just wanted it to be her turn everytime, she loved it!

Funny story...on the way home, Sarah was a little bored. She found Lydia's baby cereal mixed with the treats for the car ride (I didn't realize she could reach that far to the ground from her booster chair) and dumped the entire box (it was 3/4 full) in her lamp and began to throw it all over the car!!! We had our own snow shower! It was so hard to be stern while laughing!

We had a great vacation...I had my camera the entire time, but didn't use it! aghh! My sister will be sending me pictures soon, so I hope to add them asap!

I can Teach!!!

Such a small learning experience, but such a great impact. It's always hard to know if what you teach your children is understood or if it's even a topic to teach...but I think that something clicked today :)

A little while ago, Kayelynn had zoo day at preschool and the zoo person (I don't know waht they are called) stated that they should tell their parents if they see a snake in their garden. I was overhearing this conversation as she and Bryant started to get carried away with the types of snakes they would see. When Bryant mentioned a rattle snake she said that she would die if one bit her and she would never see us again and that Heavenly Father and Jesus would be mad at the snake...Bryant then informed her that when we die our Spirits get to be with Them and that we would be okay because then They take care of us until our parents come. It made me smile to know that they understand a little of their "test" here and that they would be okay in any situation, even if a snake bit her :)

Lydia...

...My precious baby is four months old and starting solids!!!

She went in for her well-baby check yesterday and weighs 17.6 lbs. and is 26 inches long being in the 98-100% for her age!! That's a one inch and four pound increase since ger two month check!!! She really fits into the family :D My kids usually wear the size of clothing that's double their age, but she is so tall she's in 9-12 month clothing!! AGHH! I didn't plan for that...good thing they will last a longer time than a few months, HA!

**Updated: her two bottom teeth broke through today, Thursday, 11/20!!!!!!!!!!! She has been so crabby, but I though it was because of the shots and it still very well could be, sort of...she is by far my worst teether yet-and it's only the first two, I really don't think I want to know what the others will be like..well, yeah, I guess I don't want a gummy child, that would just be awkward :)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

It's Jake's weekend to work and I won't see him until really late as he has a scheduled patient that will arrive at the time the clinic closes...

It's been a roller coaster ride the last 7 years and I look forward to the MANY, MANY more we have! I love you Jake!

Happy Anniversary... (blogger is retarded and I can't load any pictures now, maybe later)

As a side note, Lydia is FOUR months old today!!! She's almost rolling over (90%), has found how well her lungs can carry across the house, is getting two teeth on the bottom, loves to play and is finally getting more giggly, and smiley with everyone. She still seems to think she can get by on 2-3 10-minute naps in the day, but I suppose I'm getting used to it as well...it's really hard to get anything done though and she thinks it's so funny ;) She's a delight and the kids love her, sometimes too much!!

Explanation

I'm not sure I'm going to handle "Wordless Wednesday" with out an explanation. :D
Although Sarah is VERY into "tattoo"ing herself...this was actually an act of her brother. He thought it would be fun to put makeup on her-too bad it was a marker...this is the best we got after immediately washing...it stayed for a few days

At our family reunion this summer in my parents backyard. My mom is holding Lydia and my brothers are lounging and dad is finally relaxing...my parents were in charge of the reunion...this must have been during a lull-everyone else was probably chillin' too ;)

You're it! Anyone who's reading this...I'll be checking ;)

Updates...

I just posted a series of posts to get myself caught up...feel free to scroll down and see the images of the kids and read of the happenings in our life!

Utah trip-a little late...

...A few weeks ago, we were able to visit Jake's siblings in Utah-we don't get to go down that often, I know it's terrible, but really not fun to do with 4 small kids-and finding a hotel is just not that easy or fun these days (although we do hope to make it down during the holidays to see the lights on Temple Square and hopefully meet up with family while we're there).
His brother attends grad school in North Carolina and made the trek across the country with his small family for a few weeks...we were lucky enough to get to go down and visit for a couple days...We had so much fun, eating, talking, lounging, playing, eating, talking, etc! We already miss them immensely-everyone-Utahans and North Carolinians (sp?) alike...

the guys played football...

the wives (Danielle and Jill) watched the men play...
the kids dug in the sand...
some peed on a tree, out of necessity and convenience...why bother mom to use the restroom?
we tried to get the little ones to smile at one camera...I think I got the worst image...if someone got better please email it to me... :)
Ana played ball with Sarah-my tomboy at heart

Lydia was grouchy and too cute to resist

Halloween

This is our first year to experience anything with the public schools, since Bryant is just in kindergarten. I feel badly that we really have to experiment with him, but I suppose I wouldn't figure it out if I didn't try and I might as well make mistakes now, eh?
Anyway, the PTO hosted a Halloween carnival the week before Halloween, it was quite fun! This kids enjoyed going to all the different "booths" (aka classrooms) to play games and earn tokens for prizes in the end. It was an experience...the school was a little small for how many people they were trying to accommodate, but it worked out. Even though it was crazy chaos, we'll probably go again next year!! As I'm writing this, I am realizing that I did not get a single picture of the carnival, but it was all fun-no arguments or anything-success!
There is always a Halloween parade at the school after lunch (or for the Kindergarteners, in the last hour and a half of class)...I was able to watch Bryant and his class move from room to room showing off their costumes...it totally took me back to the days when I was in Elementary school, whoa! Bryant ultimately wanted to be Iron Man, but we could not find a costume locally (go figure) and decided to make it, but that never happened...so Halloween morning we jumped in the car and sped to KMart for the 50% off sale and luckily found something he liked...it was ripped by Saturday morning ;)
hiding from the bus...

his AMAZING teacher was Cinderella

after the parade...waiting for the party to begin
While Bryant was in school we took the girls to get their pictures taken at Walgreens...they were doing a free 5x7 and putting the pictures on CD for small price...Lydia decided to have an explosion just before we got inside, so we had the two older girls get their picture taken (thinking they had to be in the same photo)-the lady had no idea what she was doing...she didn't even center the photo!! oh well, it was free! After we got Lydia all changed, luckily the explosion didn't soak onto the dress, we got her photo taken and she wouldn't smile long enough for the camera to catch it, but again, it was free and that's the memory we have!!!
Princess #1 and #2

Princess #3 (her tiara got left at home)
After school, the local Motorsports shop had a public mini-party with a cake walk, bean bag toss and mini-trick-or-treating...we had fun, as you can tell from the cheeses!!! We then went trick-or-treating to the neighbors and to Great-grandma's and got stashes of candy that should last til Easter, if I can keep them from climbing to get into their buckets!!!

during the cake walk...they all won (eventually)
We had a great Halloween! With the kids getting older, it's just getting more and more fun to be a part of the holiday's (even though a few weeks ago, I told Jake I was boycotting all holiday's this year-he knew the threat wouldn't last long). I hope you all enjoyed your day as much as we did!

Halloween Party

As most of you know, or have figured out, I LOVE to host parties!!! A few years ago I suggested that since almost all of Jake's family lives around here that we should have more themed parties, including Halloween. I, of course, took charge and made it a dinner and party...it has become an anticipated and expected party-which I am grateful for...it gives me something to do. Each year the party evolves differently depending on the date and availability of people and, like this year, if there are any extras attending-the more the merrier!

These past few years I have made invitations and invited family members to bring a scary appetizer...it's always fun to see what others think of and create. This year I made beef stew, bread "bones", skeleton dip and witch "cakes"...it was fun! I will post the recipes and explanations to all of these on my recipe blog this week...check it out here.

skeleton dip
bread "bones"
witch cakes
This year we had 14 children, so the games were more directed at them and then I realized that I did not take any pictures of the games, darn it. We played a matching game-where you match a candy bar to a Halloween topic (very fun, I got the idea from a baby shower); operation-they had to feel the body parts (but it ended up not so organized as that, they just felt what the objects were in the bags); guess the candies in the jar (I had two different ones); skeleton wrap (I got this idea from Vanilla Joy).

We had a blast, as always, and ate too much food, but it is always great to be together as family.

Heritage Makers

Okay, so I am totally new to the digital scrapbooking world...mostly because I still don't own a digital camera, but I do print all my film onto CD's so I'm not that far behind. My goal is to finish the pictures that were not developed with CD's in the "old fashioned" hand crafted scrapbooking style and then begin with the digital scrapbooks when I figured out the CD option...I'm really slow sometimes.
Anyway, so I attended the local craft fair today and found a consultant of Heritage Makers. I have heard a lot about them and decided I would create a profile-totally free (I am a sucker for free) and try them out. I have just created that account and am so far impressed-I still get to do the tutorial and such, but because I know that all photos of Lydia are digital I am going to start a book for her and see how it goes! I'm actually pretty excited, I LOVE doing this sort of thing. When you create your FREE profile, here, leave me a comment so that I can let Kymberly know you all are my friends, she stated I may get a deal ;) She even has local workshops to help the poor unfortunate souls like me understand what and how to do this simple and FUN, FUN, FUN version of scrapbooking. I can't wait to get something like that done...it's been FOUR incredibly long years since I've used those creative juices...I hope I still have some :)
Let me know what you all think...can't wait to see/hear of your digital scrapbooks!

What color are you?

These are fun to do...I really enjoyed this one.

You Are a Green Crayon
Your world is colored in harmonious, peaceful, natural colors.
While some may associate green with money, you are one of the least materialistic people around.
Comfort is important to you. You like to feel as relaxed as possible - and you try to make others feel at ease.
You're very happy with who you are, and it certainly shows!

Your color wheel opposite is red. Every time you feel grounded, a red person does their best to shake you.

Weekend fun...

...I mentioned in an earlier post that we went to a surprise birthday party in Boise for my mom...it was during Conference weekend and the kids had a blast! Still playing catch up here...
Mom was canning peaches, so the kids helped...they really do like KP duty...hmmmm...anyway they were so proud of their abilities.

Master Chef/Canner Grandma

I was somewhat complaining about fixing the girls' hair everyday because they are very picky about how I do it and it usually doesn't end up that great because of my attempt to trick them into something different than they originally suggested ;) So, mom suggested that we put curlers in their hair, you know the sponge curlers you sleep in...yeah, she still has them from when I was young. Kayelynn got so stinking excited that she could hardly hold still...she got Sarah excited too (although not obvious in the pictures...I'm beginning to think Sarah is not really the camera type girl unless it's her idea)...
She was so stinking excited...it was too irresistable not to take a photo of genuine excitement!

The finished product, she wasn't so sure about the weird feeling of the curlers on her head
Sarah had no idea why Kayelynn was so excited, but she wanted in on the action and mom had to work quickly when Sarah realized it had to do with her sitting still and having grandma touch her hair...

Kayelynn still so thrilled about her new do and Sarah so tired she didn't know what to think except "don't take my picture"
tight curls of the morning...Sarah is relieved that the sponges were out and more than thrilled that her hair was princess beautiful!

pictures speak a thousand words...

and more pictures from the zoo...

enormous tortious
I told Bryant he was as tall as a lion...we isn't so sure he likes that idea...measuring up and taking it in...
in the petting zoo area-there is a little play area for the kids to get their wiggles out...they are hiding in an egg shell and Sarah is sharing the wood chips generously ;)
