BOOTS!

Jack is in love with his rain boots. First thing in the morning, he goes to his shoe cupboard and grabs his boots. He tromps around the house in his jammies and boots as happy as can be.

"Bye bye?" he pleads over and over again. "No bye-bye, lets go get some bites!"
"Bites! Bites!", he repeats.

Beauty and the Beast

Anna, my sister-in-law, and I decided it would be fun to take our four girls to the local play of Beauty and the Beast. It was a really fun experience for them. Madelyn and Hannah are in love with plays right now. They watch the play of Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland on our Netflix all the time. Madelyn insisted on getting dressed for the play in her white gloves, a way fancy dress and matching purse. What a girl! Of course, Hannah followed her big sister. They looked so cute all dressed up for a play. Here is Kenadee, Madelyn, Hannah and Halle.

When the Beast was first introduced he let out a roar through the whole audience and I think it scared the kids quite a bit. The auditorium went silent and then we heard the cries, "Daddy!". It was really funny.

The kids really liked all the costumes and the singing. It was a little long for Hannah and Halle, but they still very much enjoyed it. This picture is from the "Be Our Guest" song. Madelyn loved the dancing napkins.

Hannah patiently waited for this moment...Bell's beautiful dress. That's all she wanted to see, "When is Bell going to wear her dress?" and Bell did not disappoint.

The girls cheered like crazy when the Beast turned into his human self. What a fun experience and great Mommy time for the girls.

Of course, we had to stay after to meet all the characters. It's amazing how real this is for Hannah. Madelyn understands they are just actors, but Hannah thinks they are the real thing and that makes it really fun. "It's Bell, mom!"

Lumiere, the Candlestick

Mrs. Potts

The chest of drawers

Caudsworth, the clock
They loved how he opened his front and let them see inside.

The duster was so cute. March 13, 2010

A healthy breakfast

This is not an everyday occurrence, I promise, but I have discovered Jack loves cool whip and when I can't get him to eat, I smother his food in a little cool whip and down it goes (along with a little extra sugar). Who doesn't like a little cool whip with their ham and broccoli?

Mmmmm! March 7, 2010

It's Riding Time!

The weather was great for a ride on the motorcycle and Madelyn insisted on going on the first ride of the season. She and Cody make great riding partners. I can't get over how cute she is in her jacket.

Thumbs up for 'ready to go'.

Madelyn loves this. She is such a show off and she thinks she is so cool on the motorcycle, especially when her friends are watching. There's Mecka and Cambre, our next door neighbors and Madelyn, even though you can't see it, waving and giving them the 'my dad's the coolest' look. March 7, 2010

A trip down the stairs...

So, we have tile at the bottom of the stairs and I've always been pretty paranoid about keeping the kids from falling down the stairs. I keep a gate at the top of the stairs all the time even though this drives Cody crazy because he has to step over it. Well today we were down stairs and I put the gate at the bottom of the stairs to keep Jack from climbing up. I had to go upstairs for something and I brought Jack with me, but I forgot the gate. Of course, Jack tumbled down. The gate stopped him from hitting the tile at the bottom of the stairs, but it did damage of it's own. Poor Jack was smashed right into the gate when I got to him with all sorts of bumps and bruises. We all have our 'terrible mom moments' and this would be one of mine. Sorry baby!

Jack, as always, recovers very quickly; especially when bribed with food! March 4, 2010

"This is my dead face, Mom."

Hannah has discovered the word dead and what it means to be dead. Can we move on to the next phase, please? March 3, 2010

Weee!

Madelyn discovered something that Jack absolutely loves. She places Jack in a blanket and then she and Hannah pick up the ends and pull him around the house. It fills the upstairs with lots of giggles. I'm not sure how safe it is, but so far so good. We, McQueens, have really hard heads. March 2, 2010

Bye Bye?!

Jack is so excited when it's nice enough to go outside. He just begs at the door, "bye bye...bye bye..." until we let him out. Cold days are very long days inside our house. Jack loves to ride on anything: his car, Madelyn's jeep, any bike I'll put him on and push him around.

The train of bikes around our house is quite comical sometimes.

This is Jack's favorite bike to ride. He can't reach the pedals, but I can stand on the back like a scooter and push him up and down our sidewalk. It gets a little tiresome, but it makes him happy. February 10, 2010

Jack's First Hair Cut

Jack started to have the mullet look and it had to go. We will not join the Mullets of Idaho. I was so nervous to cut his hair since I have had no experience (never got the chance to cut Cody's hair, he lost it too fast :). I have to admit I was very pleased with the outcome, but I realize I will need some lessons before he gets too much older so that I don't humiliate him.

He is such a blondie.

What a handsome boy!

I love a clean cut little boy and he's a cute one if I say so myself. February 18, 2010

Just a little dust...

No, we are not in Iraq. This was a fun project we took on. That was a little sarcasm for you. We decided to scrape the last popcorn ceiling in our house: the toy room. WHAT A MESS! If you haven't experienced this, you're one of the lucky ones. Dust in the eyes, dust in the mouth, white cakey-dusty-crusty stuff all over everything and really tired arms. We didn't stop there. Cody textured the ceiling himself, painted it, painted the light fixtures, decided to mud over the brown panelling, texture it, paint it, caulk everything, paint all the other walls...what a project! We got it done after some really long days and it looks great and that feels good. February 27, 2010

Like Father, Like Son

Jack loves bubble baths and he gets really silly with the bubbles. He loves to pile them on his face. I think he's pretending to have a little facial hair like his daddy. He looks good with a goatee, don't you think?

An afternoon with the Bulkley girls

We had the four Bulkley girls over for an afternoon and what fun we had! It was so silly having 6 girls running around. The older ones put on our very own Olympics in my living room. We had all sorts of events with medal ceremonies. I took gold for the handstand event and the back handspring contest. Yes, I was very sore the next day. My girls went from playing princess to pretending prom night. I'm not quite ready for that yet. Madelyn thought it was so cool to hang out with older girls.

You can never have enough spare bikes. Wow Jeff! Time to give Kennedy some driving lessons.

We had our fare share of rock band songs blaring through the house.

Then there's the Hannahs. They were in their own little pretend world and were oblivious to the other kids. These two play so well together and play so girly, I love it! It's been so fun for Madelyn and Hannah to have some new girl friends to play with. We love the Bulkley girls! Febuary 15, 2010

Valentine fun!

For Hannah and Keagan's school party, we made mini cupcakes and they helped me with the cups and placing the candy hearts on top. It's the little things that make my kids happy.

Hannah insisted on organizing our hearts by color. This is very typical of her; everything organized into lines.
We set the table for our Valentines breakfast.

The girls decorated our back door with hearts galore!

Hannah's party was a valentine pajama party and she got to wear her favorite jammies and slippers to school. Very cool for a little four year old.

I love the pig tails!

We had a fun little Valentine breakfast for the girls this year. I made some cute doodle notebooks for them and instead of buying a bunch of little stuff they would throw away in an hour, I gave them something they've been wanting for a long time, BENDAROOS!!! They were so excited! I have to admit that Cody and I had just as much fun with them as the kids.

Here's a little snip of some of our artwork stuck to the wall. After a few hours, my living room wall was plastered with cute little creations. I did the bee, Cody did the bear and Madelyn is the proud creator of the rest.

Hannah's idea of Bendaroo art: wad as many into a ball and plaster it to the wall. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Feb. 14, 2010
